How come rookies are never invovled? I was just wondering cause I’m sure people would love to see how some rookies fair against NBA competition (even though it’s not at its best) and even some rookies like Kemba, Jimmer, Derrick Williams, Kyrie have a ton of hype and media craze so why not get them involved as well?

I am sure they are allowed to play because Jimmer organized his rookie charity game in Provo. I dunno just a thought and I wanted to see if you guys (or girls) have any reasonable explanations for this.

Reggie Jackson just played in Kevin Durant’s game, albeit briefly (6 mins, 10 points on 5/7 shooting. Albeit, this was a game that finished 176-171 and had 6 players register 30 or more points). I know that Josh Selby has played in a bunch of games. I think that anyone could be invited to these games, but the players more often than not invite teammates (or future teammates) and other guys that they know. Plus, I for one think their is incredibly little way to gauge exactly how good a player will be by watching these games. I mean, Michael Beasley scored 56 points. We know that Beasley is a tremendous scorer, but we know that LeBron James and Kevin Durant have proven to be better. Yes, it would be fun to see the rookies, but I think that these things tell you very little about what their roles will be in the NBA, which is what I think we would all like to see.

Kyrie is still banged up i think.

Williams and Jimmer both play in them a fair amount.  Selby’s constantly involved.

Kyrie played in CP3’s charity game. His toe isn’t 100%, but he can play through it.

Quite a few rookies have actually played. Kryie played in CP3’s charity game, Kemba played in the "Clash of the Superstars" in DC, D-Will played in the Goodman v. Drew League rematch, and Selby has been all over the country. Tristan Thompson has been in a few also.

Derrick Williams & Selby have played in quite a few. Kyrie played in Chris Paul’s. Nolan Smith played in a coupple. Reggie Jackson was at the OKC one last night. Most of the early ones were city vs. city (LA, DC, BMore, Philly, Indy) so if the guys weren’t from there or regulars at the respective leagues they weren’t playing. & the ones lately are whoever the organizers invite. Considering the rookies don’t have contracts and everyone has to pay their own way to these things I can see why more haven’t played.
