Dog_ShammdogParticipantYou can quantify a "steal" however you like. Personally, I feel that if a second rounder winds up being a rotation player, it’s a steal. I can plausibly see a number of second rounders in this years draft that can contribute at the next level and outperform many of this years first rounders.
Just to get the juices flowing, here are a few players that I believe could be "steals". I’m not necessarily counting on that from any of these players, but could atleast see it possibly happening. Just tryin to spark discussion with this list:
Olivier hanlan, dakari johnson, aleksandar vezenkov,Keifer Sykes, Terran petteway, Anthony brown, danilo fuzaro, Aaron white, joe young, rakeem christmas, Jp tokoto etc
as I run through the names, I can’t help but notice a whole lotta game amongst these guys. Realistically, and hardly that, I could see up to four second rounders playing meaningful minutes next season.
Also, what’re your thoughts regarding this years second round?

Bencelticsfan2346Participanthanlan should be a decent scorer in the NBA with his shooting ability he is also a decent passer I think if ends up in philly he could make some noise and at best with philly’s lack of depth at either guard he could be an all rookie similar to what we saw with Jordan clarkson

omphalosParticipantDakari Johnson, Robert Upshaw and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson would all be steals if they dropped jn the second round IMO.
I think Tokoto is too raw to contribute yet, but he could be a good draft and stash.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI like Hanlan, Of course being a UNC fan I got to watch him at BC. The dude gets buckets. It didn’t matter who they were playing, he could get 20 on any given night. He’s not spectacular at anything, he’s just a solid player. He was BC’s only decent player. Other teams knew that and geared their defense to stop him and he still put up numbers. He could be a real good guy to have come off the bench for some offensive firepower. Tokoto could be a steal. He’ll never be a great jump shooter, but he’s putting in the work and could become at least passable and hit open shots. His athleticism and defense could be a positive for someone coming off the bench as well.

DolanCareParticipantTerran Petteway offensive versatility will make him an NBA player for a long time.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantI’m happy I’m not the only one who sees some talent in the second. I think that rakeem Christmas is going to be a solid backup from the rip. But I think he’s going in the first after measuring out and performing well at the combine. Following a great yr. I do think aleksandar vazenkov will be there in the second and could have a rookie season comparable to nikola mirotic. He’s a different player though, I think he’ll be more effective as a slasher and works really well away from the ball for a player of his size and could play more small forward. Gotta love that lefty stroke!
—–Luis Montero—— I really doubt but definitely hope that somebody gives him a chance. Atleast a summer league invite. This guy has some talent but is an absolute wild card. He’s 6’7" and incredibly fluid and athletic, has a great handle, and shows flashes of great court vision…….. But all against juco competition. I’d want dibs on him going into the d-league atleast.

arambone2I think there’s going to be a bunch, but Cliff Alexander ranks pretty high for me.
Punished for not being an immediate college star, to the point of being way underrated.
But there’s just so many good PFs in this draft it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle.
Alexander might be the strongest PF in the bunch, other than perhaps Harrell. Alexander will get as strong as Harrell within two years.

BiggysmallsParticipantWhat else does he do besides be strong though? Legit questions here about Alexander because all I’ve seen him do is dunk. He was highly recruited and didn’t do much at Kansas so I’m curious what kind of NBA player you think he can really be?

arambone2Rebound, block shots, play good tough man defense in the post.
I guess you could think of him as a shorter DeAndre Jordan, like a power forward version of Jordan. Not quite the athlete, but probably stronger and tougher at the same age. And a way better FT shooter. I think he’s like 65%, and he’s still relatively new to the game. Which obviously shouldn’t be forgotten.
Like a Tristan Thomspon or Taj Gibson or Amir Johnson type defensive specialist, but I think he’s a natural shooter and is going to prove it. Just a nice jump shot, which is good because his post moves are still years away.

RUN TMCParticipantI see Hanlan being a Lou Williams type spark off the bench. I wouldn’t be suprised to see him as a 6th man of the year candidate for most of his career. Another 2nd round steal in my mind might be Travis Trice, Izzo guys seem to find a role in the league and I believe Trice could carve a career as a nice backup PG in the right system.

vulture711ParticipantMeans a senior who can help a team now but teams stay away from due to age or feeling upside is limited

TrillaParticipantSolid Rotation player. Big, good touch, rebounds, blocks shots, efficient. No reason he can’t prove to be a player on the right team

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI think there’s alot of talented big men, some of them might not have the mental makeup to make it at the next level but I feel like at least 1 or 2 will.
One of my personal favorites is Jarell Martin, but other guys like Cliff Alexander, Dakari Johnson and Robert Upshaw all have high potential and could end up being steals.
