There is a lot of talk that Marco Belinelli will be brought out by the Hawks. I’d imagine that a fair number of contenders will look at him given his experience and shooting.

There is talk that Joe Johnson may get a buyout too.

I wonder what would happen if a veteran like say Johnson was traded and asked for a buyout or effectively be waived. He’d give up any owed salary to try and get on a contender but then his new team like Sac-Town said sorry we want you on the team for experience.

Not a buyout but pretty much in the same category – a vet picked up for the postseason – is Pelicans big man Emeka Okafor. What a story, 5 years between drinks I believe and in the lineup tonight vs Philly.

Part of me would love to see Belinelli back on the Spurs, but he really hurts the defense. He probably makes more sense on the Thunder — they don’t care about D and need shooting.

Emeka Okafor, wow! Didn’t back troubles force him into early retirement years ago?

Emeka had a herniated disc in his neck and didn’t play for 4 years, he was finally cleared to play last summer so fair play to him for making it back to the NBA when he probably didn’t need to.

Double wow! 8 boards, 4 blocks and a team-high +11 in 20 minutes for Emeka Okafor in his NBA return.

Odd that he, not Ben Gordon or Charlie Villanueva, will probably be the last guy playing in the league from that great UConn championship team …

    Toney Allen -Bulls

Joakim Noah-If Knicks legit buy him out..

     Marco Bellinelli:Hawks

D-rose-Jazz. Supposedly Thibs wants him but I don’t know if he is a good fit there sort of similar to how I fell if he came to the Thunder..

Brandon wright-Grizzlies-To sign with Rockets apparently.

    Joe Johnson-Kings.

Vince Carter- Kings depending on if you believe that they want to or not..Supposedly the Raptors want him.

    Georgias papagiannis(waived) the 13th pick in 2016..

Wilson Chandler(supposedly)-Has apparently fallen out of Favor

Kenneth Faried(Supposedly)-Wants to play a bigger role somewhere/Wanted to be traded..

The Team  I follow is OKC so if I had to say who I would like us to go after would possibly be the following:

Definitely: Georgias Papagiannis- He could possibly turn into the next Brook Lopez if developed right.Even if he wasn’t used this season he would at least be a nice prospect which could give us something for later to maybe trade if we had to…

    The maybes depending on Situation:

Joe Johnson: It all depends on what position and role you want to play him..If you believe he can still defend to a reasonable level and could play a catch and shoot game I would look into him at Sg if not I would consider him for SF position starting or if not depends on what you believe he has left in the tank or how long you think he might take to get things to what role is offered…

D-rose:This is only if you believe the following works: Russ and Felton full time or at least for spurts with Rose Spelling who ever isn’t on the court.Or if you believe Rose and Felton backcourt works when Starters rest assuming Jermi grant or terrance ferguson gets the starting nod..

Wilson Chandler or Faried-if legit rumors either would be an interesting fit..

    The keep away from:

Noah-He is done and has nothing unfortunately left in the tank.

Toney Allen-Unfortunately he is probably almost done or pretty close and injuries probably haven’t helped him this season…But I could be wrong..

Brandan Wright was one of the classic upside guys in the much hyped 2007 draft. On a lot of that year’s mocks he was pegged to go as high as 3rd behind Oden and KD but eventually went 8th. Sadly injuries have blighted his career to such an extent he has only played 427 games well into his 11th NBA season.

But he has stuck around the league and got some good paydays and teams are still interested in him so fairplay to him.

Quickly looking back at that much hyped 2007 draft only 4 guys have made All Star level and one was 48th pick Marc Gasol whilst the much derided 2006 draft has produced 5 All Stars.

Anybody else notice the Cavs seemed to have left some roster space to pick up potential buyouts.

Cleveland needs Tyson Chandler, if he’s bought out of his contract.

Teams will often leave a spot for the play offs in case anyone becomes available or they need to cover injuries plus it saves a bit of luxury tax. One or two vets on lottery teams may look for a buyout or to be waived, we don’t know what their contracts might say as regards this.

Someone like Vince Carter at 41 might fancy one last play off run if a spot came up for example and if he has given Sac-Town the majority of the season, they may reach a deal with him.

Also if guys are going to be brought out and stretched then teams will look to do this before next NBA financial year kicks in as it gives them more years to spread contract over.

Warriors need to get in this. They look good but maybe not THAT good. The go-go Rockets look great and LeBron has a team around him now that should be able to make a real run.

Danny Ainge needs to augment his team, too.  Sometimes it just looks like Kyrie and a bunch of dudes.

I would like to see Vince Carter get a ring.

Hmmm, at least one LeBron-Vince alley-oop before Vinsanity retires would be fun. Vince could be their new Richard Jefferson — basically played that role in Memphis last year and did well.

If Tyson Chandler got brought out I’d imagine a long line of teams would be there to sign him. But he has his title and seems quite happy in Phoenix.

Vince Carter going to Houston’s lob city would be fun but the D’Antoni system isn’t probably ideal for a 41 year old. Going back and finishing his career in Toronto would be a nice story too.
