dmo21ParticipantI usually do this a couple times a years using a formula I made using some hard stats to depict a ranking for every position. This year I switched it up a little using advanced stats from basketball-reference.com which altered my formula a little bit. I just did this today so there’s still some kinks to work out, but no ranking is going to please everybody anyways. So here’s the top ten at every position so far and the rating doesn’t mean much as a number, but you can gauge how much higher someone was rated than another. By the way, the rating value is not transferable to different positions.
PG:
1. Paul (137.90)
2. Curry (109.81)
3. Conley (90.21)
4. Thomas (90.02)-don’t know how he got this high but his stats are pretty good
5. Lawson (88.03)
6. Lillard (86.74)
7. Wall (83.76)
8. Bledsoe (82.47)
9. Parker (81.54)
10. Williams (78.50)
Comments: Westbrook is 74.82 (13th) due to low TS%, ORtg, DRtg, and WS. If Dragic was calculated as a point guard he would be 6th.
SG:
1. Harden (74.72)
2. Dragic (74.14)
3. Matthews (72.59)
4. Afflalo (70.42)
5. Wade (65.98)
6. Martin (63.98)
7. Ginobili (63.52)
8. Redick (62.34)
9. Thompson (61.38)
10. Ellis (61.27)
Comments: Bledsoe and Webster would be 5th and 6th if tried as shooting guards.
SF: 1. James (109.55)
2. Durant (98.62)
3. George (79.97)
4. Anthony (75.21)
5. Webster (69.53)
6. Batum (66.76)
7. Parsons (66.71)
8. Deng (61.41)
9. Leonard (60.48)
10. Iguodala (58.73)
PF:
1. Love (91.88)
2. Davis (80.80)
3. Nowitzki (79.31)
4. Hill (77.87)- another wtf kind of guy who has really high TS%, TRB%, BLK%, and ORtg.
5. Aldridge (77.17)
6. Griffin (73.35)
7. A. Johnson (70.95)-same as Hill
8. Ibaka (68.78)
9. Anderson (68.28)
10. Millsap (67.13)
Comments: James (107.44) would be first and Anthony (77.57) would be 6th if calculated as power forwards. Lee and Duncan are 11th and 12th.
C:
1. Drummond (87.79)- surprise!!
2. B. Lopez (85.73)
3. Howard (85.49)
4. Cousins (84.98)
5. Jordan (77.81)
6. Horford (75.86)
7. Bosh (75.12)
8. Hawes (73.63)
9. R. Lopez (72.66)
10. Hibbert (70.99)- thought he would be much higher
Comments: Davis (88.21) would be first if calculated as a center.Calculation is based on advanced stat percentages, usage, rating, and wins. I’ll post it later as I’m tired of writing. Please don’t neg to hard if you don’t agree, but it is an unbiased ranking based on real facts.

dacula18ParticipantI don’t think Isiah Thomas and Drummond are really that surprising. Both are having really effecient seasons, and your formula seems to be all about effeciency.

dmo21ParticipantWell efficiency is the key to the game. Better to have a guy score 20 on 15 shots then on 30 shots. Winning was also another key factor in there and only guys with really good stats on losing teams made it.

anthony_DavIS23ParticipantAnthony (77.57) would be 6th if calculated as power forwards. Does that mean 2nd place Is Glen Davis

dmo21ParticipantWhen I refer to Davis, it’s Anthony Davis. When I refer to Anthony it is Carmelo Anthony.

Da1potParticipantChris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA and it isn’t even close. It’s not even debatable right now…….

bobsandersParticipantIt seems like the top of the list is dominated by great offensive guys. Maybe that’s why hibbert is so far down, does your ranking emphasize offense since defense is so difficult to quantify beyond blocks/steals?

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantWhat’s your formula? It’s crazy to see Paul so much higher than everyone (28 points higher than Lebron)
