there use to be a time when the pit tourney found diamonds in the rough like scottie pippen, dennis rodman, john stockton and dan majerle….but now it seems like a camp where gms & coaches go to scout specialists…and there are a few good ones here this year…here are the 4 guys that i’ve been impress with the most at pit…

kadeem allen of arizona..a 6’3 tough high iq ,gritty, combo guard that was 1 of the premiere defenders in the nation this season.. he could guard nba pgs right now..he might hear his name called in the late 2nd round…

canyon barry a 6’6 wing from florida played well last night..had a double double…might not get drafted, but his outstanding shooting and last name will get him looks from teams..

jabari bird, the former mickey d all american who was expected to be a 1 & done..but his stock has dropped becuz of the injuries during his time at cal..could be a sleeper in this draft….

derrick white of colorado has displayed an all around game in the 2 gms i’ve seen him play..

amina brimah of u conn has an unorthodox style, but he’s a solid rim protector…

Kadeem had the look of an NBA player to me at U of A. He learned under TJ McConnell when he redshirted his first year at in AZ after being JUCO player of the year in 2014. He is 24 years old but has skills that NBA scouts still could covet.

Amidah Brimah- Long enough and athletic enough so that I can see some team figuring that investing some guaranteed money and a D-League roster spot would probably be worth while. Plus, he is still young in terms of the sport.

Scoochie Smith- At Dayton, he was in the A10 and somewhat off the radar, but had some big games against big opponents. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does well in Portsmouth or the summer league.

Justin Tuoyo- Small college 5th year seniors don’t tend to get drafted. That said, he will have the wingspan and shot blocking to get long looks. If nothing else, I could see his college coach (Billy Donovan’s old assistant) work to get him in with OKC’s summer league team.

Marc Loving- He was such an acclaimed star heading into Ohio State, and will almost certainly have impressive physical measurements and combine tests. It isn’t nuts to think that maybe some team think they could get more out of him than OSU.

Damyean Dotson- This is a guy where you can’t separate the player from the off-court issues. I don’t think he is going to get drafted. As a player, setting aside everything else, he probably is good enough to merit a look. Like Smith, I would not be surprised if he does well in Portsmouth and the summer league.
