diggs76ParticipantWorst case senario for Portland…Aldridge walks with no sign and trade.
If that happens, do you blow this thing up and start over?
I’m sure you keep lillard…but do you deal Batum? Let Lopez and Matthews walk?
What at would you do?

Bmore_DCParticipantI heard rumors about Lillard leaving when/if Aldridge leaves. That being said, I dont think they have to totally blow it up to be competitive. At the same time, a total rebuild might be the better long-term plan. The West is at an all-time high, especially with Durant coming back and the Spurs planning on bringing in a big name.
They have to decide if they want to build with a foundation of Lillard, McCollum, and Leonard. Im not totally sold on that as a foundation.
You could clear space and get some pick/young players for Lopez, Batum, and the guys i mentioned above. With letting any of your free agents walk.

machu46ParticipantI’ve heard the opposite; that Aldridge might want Lillard gone if he returns to Portland. Supposedly Aldridge has become kinda annoyed with the fact that Lillard seems to get all the hype and credit even though Aldridge is clearly the better player.

Mad MaxParticipantYea pretty much, you’ve got Lilard, McCullom and Leonard who are good young players so that’s a good start to build off of. Batum might have more value on a contending team so a trade could net good value for him. Their biggest problem is how tough the west is, in the east they could quickly bounce back and contend for the playoffs.
Matthews, the injury is just too much, he won’t be ready and good for a while so just doesn’t make sense. Lopez, you’ve already got Leonard who’s ready for a bigger role so no point keeping Lopez around when you’re rebuilding.

FrozetoesParticipantI say stay the course and go after vets like Love or Lee. Love is from the area and might like going home to play for a playoff contender. Lee would want a chance to be a starter again.

tblazer_NZParticipantIf Aldridge were to leave I would chase Brook Lopez and Paul Millsap hard with Love and Monroe being other options. Considering all the FA Portland has this year if Aldridge leaves they would have a ton of cap room. If LA leaves Matthews will likely go as well. Portland could also get a decent player out of this draft. Neil Olshey knows how to draft and build a team. He drafted Lillard, McCollum and Leonard. Not all of them were considered good picks at the time but are now paying off. He also got Robin Lopez for very little. I trust Olshey to get this team where it needs to be.

gforce03ParticipantI will break things up and acquire young talents and draft picks for sure, don’t think other FAs this year will have as big of an impact as LA brings, so if I were the Blazers, I would rather spend less and prepare for the future.
