mikeyvthedonParticipantWould have been a crazy trade. Paul and Roy in the back court would be something to watch, and it would certainly open up Portland’s roster and make a crazy 8 man rotation. I am almost glad they did not trade Batum, as I really want to see how he develops on Portland, but for Chris Paul and solidifying our PG spot with one of the best in the league, I am sure I could have lived. I would be surprised if the Hornets actually trade Chris Paul, and if they did I do not think it would be for more young talent than this deal would have given them, not to mention a couple solid vets.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s hard for me to believe that the Hornets will ever trade Chris Paul after turning down that deal.
They would’ve gotten major cap relief with Miller (non-guaranteed contract) and Pryzbilla (expiring contract). They were getting young talent in Batum and Bayless, plus the 22nd pick.
I think it’s safe to say that Chris Paul is staying a Hornet.

Tobe BryantParticipantNow lemme get this straight….Portland turned down an ALL-STAR, ALL-NBA, TOP 3 PG, PLAYMAKER, GAME/FRANCHISE CHANGER, MARKETABLE, WINNER WHEN SURROUNDED BY THE RIGHT PIECES just to keep a developing wing, PG, a veteran guard, bad contract, and a draft pick? WOW! That’s a hard pill to swallow, but it would be safe to say that CP3 will remain a HORNET because that was a good deal for both teams. NEW ORLEANS gets young talent while PORTLAND get their PG for the future as well as what they DESPERATELY need. That would have made PORTLAND an automatic shoe in for the WCF or at least the WCS.
PORTLANDS ROSTER W/CP3:
PG- Chris Paul
SG- Brandon Roy
SF- Travis Outlaw or Rudy Fernandez
PF- Lamarcus Aldrige
C- Greg OdenElliot Williams

White ChocolateParticipantNo the Hornets backed out of the trade.

White ChocolateParticipantWell they would have to even offer a trade for CP3 if they didn’t give the Jazz the #3 pick that turned into Deron Williams for the #6 pick that turned in Martell Webster and the #27 pick that turned into Linas Kleiza which isn’t bad, but they traded him to Denver for Jarrett Jack. So the Blazers traded the #3 pick in the 2005 nba draft for Luke Babbitt and Jarrett Jack.

IndianaBasketballParticipantPortland didn’t turn down the trade… NO did.

Tobe BryantParticipantNot to mention Marcus Camby.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThat’d have been horrible for Monty Williams if they’d have traded CP3 to the team he just left, especially considering he said CP3 is the main reason he came to the Hornets.

PlatypusParticipantBatum is a major part of this team, he is the defensive stopper on the team

McWinningParticipantIt wouldnt be that bad because he was a huge part of delegating batum, and he coached them, if they were to trade Chris Paul it would make sense for him to go to Portland because hes coached those players before.
