Brad999ParticipantWith so many young promising point guards in this years draft why is everyone saying portalnd will sign a veteran point look the best assest a point guard has is his speed and eyes and they both start to decline with age people just because portland young doesnt mean for the sake of it u put vet on it , MY question who would u love to see pt guard wise from this years draft in portland and then realistically who think we could get ?

rvirsalParticipantmost pgs i believe get better the longer they are in the league. obviously, there are a handful of elite guards who are already great even during their rookie years (ex. rose, dwill, cp3), but there are a lot of others who got better through experience (ex. nash, alston, billups). most of the pg prospects in this draft are years from contributing (most scouts believe they should even stay in school (ex. jrue, teague)). portland is a veteran or two away from being contenders, and that’s the reason why most of us here believe that portland would look to land kidd, nash, bibby or andre miller.

Brad999Participantbut lets be honest how long do u want to commiot to bibby or miller ? and how much id like to see nash he would be great but he is getting on to if portland is looking for direction at the point guard spot nash is the man but i think drafting one of these point guards tyrke evans ricky rubio or patty mills would be great i really think rubio or mills would be the best bet they both have professional experiance and mills is more of a pass first pt guard than people think he had to be the scorer on his team and he does have a nice jumper

fastfingersParticipantthe big question is which PG here can actually outplay bayless. Honestly Probably only brandon jennings or ricky rubio can be an upgrade to bayless while the others won’t even help. bayless is very good, he just needs time to develop.

rvirsalParticipantbayless was the summer league mvp and he was thought to be a top 5 pick in last year’s draft. and wasn’t last year’s pretty deep? he’s going to be good. he’s like a young arenas. he’ll start next season if they don’t get kidd/bibby/andre miller. i think signing any of these 3 to 2year deals aren’t bad. but that’s if they agree to just 2 year deals. that’s enough time for bayless to develop, and i think those 3 can still play at a high level for 2 years (maybe not kidd though). but i think they’d go for a long contract, this will probably their last, so i think they’d go for atleast 3.

bflaa2ParticipantBayless is a STUD.
I think they draft another guy like a Jeff Teague I think one of them will develop into a STAR! and have them compete for the job.

bflaa2ParticipantIs it unanimous that Russell Westbrook is not a Pg? I think he did a good job this year. I think they go Thabeet
