in the draft the trail blazers should draft

    4 pick with Andre Drummond

    11 pick with Austin Rivers

    44 pick with Will Barton

    starting lineup will be

C Andre Drummond- complement LaMarcus well with his Athleticism and shot blocking abiliy

PF LaMarcus Aldridge- go to guy

SF Nicolas Batum- spot up shooter and slasher

    SG Wesley Matthews-slasher

PG Austin Rivers- can see him playing pg cause all he got to do is give it to LaMarcus, he is a pretty good passer sometime when he want to be and he can score the ball when you need him too

Will Barton will come in a slasher too

they are all young so try to build around them and help Austin Rivers learn how to play pg

Marshall would be the safer pick with that second spot that Rivers is in. Unfortunately I think Rivers is going to be stuck in a pg role unless he goes to a franchise with a decent pg.

Trade LA and the nets pick to who ever wins the lottery.

    Rivers

    Wes Mathews

    Batum

    Hickson

    Anthony davis

Blazers said they wanted to make a splash in the front office…getting the number 1 pick would do it

I agree on the Drummond pick, he could be a franchise guy, but he’s a high risk/high reward player.  I think its also safe to say that Austin Rivers is too, i think that if they can get Drummond that they should go with a safer pick like Kendall Marshall or Damian Lillard.

I have to agree that Drummond would be the ideal 4th pick, if he goes before then a lot depends on who else is taken in the top 3 with Davis we assume. If it was MKG then Portland could consider Robinson but it would mean him or Aldridge having to play 5 which isn’t ideal.

MKG or Barnes could play around Batum and Matthews and both are the sort of guys that Portland looked for characterwise.

Ideally a C and a PG are needed from the draft if they get the pick from NJ but if players in those positions aren’t available in the draft at their drafting spots they may have to look elsewhere.

Guys like Lamb, Beal, Rivers would all seem decent choices, if they cannot get a suitable big with the NJ pick or it does not come across then the other frontcourt options could be Leonard or a Zeller in the 10 to 14 range.

Perry Jones could also be an option given his versatility or if they decide to go up tempo.

Ray Felton’s team deal could be a nice draft day trading chip if they want to make any moves given it’s value.

I also think that Portland could be weary of drafting Drummond because of what happened with Greg Oden, In that case i think they would go with Harrison Barnes or MKG if either are on the board.

I support the Drummond pick, but he’s a project. I think there is very little chance he’ll start as a rookie unless Portland gives up hope of making the playoffs and they do what Charlotte is doing with Bismack.

I feel Portland knows they have to rebuild their team after injuries destroyed a very promising squad, but I also feel they want to stay relevant and don’t want to become a bottom dweller.

Drummond and Lillard would be a great draft for Portland. I like Rivers as a 6th man off the bench, but I would rather have a good point guard first.

I would not pass on Drummond if he is there.  They shouldnt let the Oden situation dissuade them.

like most of the people in this thread, i agree with drummond at 4 then feel marshall is a better choice at 11, i actually have rivers taken at 9 to utah at my mock draft, but with the 41st pick, i would rather the blazers go big again instead of a wing. although i wouldnt complain if barton was selected, i’d much rather use the pick on Henry Sims of Georgetown. part of the reason for that is because i want a deeper look at babitt and williams and see if they can be the blazers shock troopers of the bench providing energy.

So do you think Oden’s problems were from Portlands drinking water or something?  It’s not like he has a disease that can be passed on to Drummond.

    •  4th pick: Andre Drummond
    • 11th pick: Terrance Ross

Resign J.J. Hickson and Nic Batum, sign Goran Dragic, hire Mike D’Antoni as head coach

Dragic, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge, Drummond w/ Ross, Smith, Hickson, random big man x off the bench.

thats one idea/direction the blazers could go with. i wouldnt say that its totally wrong since it makes sense. although if they do get d’antoni, hickson would probably be their back-up big and babitt will play both back-up sf and pf. however, what happens if the blazers arent able to sign dragic? nolan smith starts at the point?

Portland should go with Drummond and PJ3. That way they have Drummond at 6’11, Aldrige at 6’11, and Jones at 6’11. That would cause so many mismatches for opposing teams.

As a Portland fan I like what knicksboy has us doing. Maybe take Burke if he falls to us in the second to groom and give a chance play the Patty MIlls role

     Perry Jones is awful.

The Blazers could look to signing either Dragic, or making the call for someone like Eric Bledsoe or even Jeremy Lin.

here’s why… if you are taking drummond at 4th… you are saying to your fans that you are rebuilding, Drummond is a 1-2 year prospect at the minimum…meaning that you are probably going to be in the lottery next year as well…especially if you consider how tough the west is and how there are other teams ahead of you in their rebuilding processes (Utah, Minnesota, Sac, GS). So, if you are drafting on potential why not go all out?

Rivers has good size for a pg, a sick handle, first step, and he can shoot it from outside. however, he does not have the right skills to play pg now… there are many other players who came into the league with less but are above average pgs right now (jameer nelson, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowery, Steph Curry).. I am not saying that rivers is a lock to be as good as these players, just that it is possible for him, but like drummond it is not all going to be there his first year in the league.

The problem with this strategy is that you are basically saying to LaMarcus "sorry dude, you are going to have to baby sit these guys till they learn how to play the game…" which might be difficult for him.. I dunno. However, should this gambit pay off, you are back where you wanted to be in 2-3 years with all of your old talent replaced with young talent..(because you are getting at least one more lottery pick next year).

I like the idea of pairing henry sims with the Drummond pick brecause there is no way he is going to be able to play 30+ mins per game right away so you need a place filler..G’town has brought some good passing big men into the league recently…with a second round pick there is no reason not to gamble on simms. How about scott macado at back up PG?

I’m a Duke fan, Austin Rivers is not a point guard. At all.

terrence ross would be good in a d’antoni team. same could be said for terrence jones but then he’s like a better version of babit who the blazers already have. i think thats the problem for drafting for a team without a head coach, you dont know what direction they want to go with. their selection at 11 will probably depend on who their free agent targets are which they are comfortable in getting.

Portland will have some cap space but if we assume they resign Batum and Hickson, other moves will perhaps be quite limited. I forgot to add in an earlier post that if they do draft Drmmond they could maybe resign Big Priz to give him time to develop and maybe even Kurt Thomas as both those guys could help to mentor a young big like Drummond.

If i was Portland I would definentley take jeremy lamb. If Drummond stays I would take him b/c of potential but hopefully he doesn’t end up like another Greg Oden

At the 4th pick, Andre Drummond would be ideal for them. He is a raw, uber-talented big man and Portland has time for him to mature. LA, Wes Johnson, Batum, and Hickson are all young enough to provide a solid nucleus for many years and add Drummond to their position of need and Portland can be scary in a few years.

With the 11th pick, I also have the Blazers selecting Austin Rivers. Kendall Marshall would be the ideal pick for them, allowing them to let Raymond Felton walk in free agency and adding another importnat piece to their young puzzle. However, I have New Orleans selecting Marshall at an earlier pick. Rivers would provide some much needed help and depth at the shooting guard spot, while also helping very occasionaly with the point guard duties (as Jamal Crawford does). This, unfortunately, means that Portland will probably resign Raymond Felton to be their starting point guard.

With the 44th pick, I would go with another, more NBA-ready big man in Herb Pope. Porltnad doesnt need him to be the superstar that their expecting Drummond to be, but just a serviceable big man that can provide some valuable minutes off the bench.

He isn’t a true pg, but he really isn’t a sg, either.  He is a mediocre spot-ups shooter who prefers to shoot pull-up jumpers, and he doesn’t move well without the ball or defend well.  I also don’t think he is talented enough or athletic enough to fill a Monta Ellis type role.  As a pg, he lacks passing ability, but his scoring game is suited for scoring as a pg, not as a sg necessarily.  He is really only effective on the court when the ball is in his hands.

I think 11 is too high for Rivers.  I know Portland could do with a young pg to eventually take over for Felton, but to a certain extent they just need to take the best player available.

If i was Portland, i take the best wing player available at 4-5 (Barnes/Lamb/even Beal) to try to develop a legit inside outside, 1-2 threat with Aldridge down low. Not ignoring that Portland could also really use a big down low to compliment Aldrige, i would take a bit of a gamble/reach for either Zeller or Leonard at the 11th pick range. Zeller would give them more scoring, but might make for a physically too weak frontcourt with him and lamarcus. I don’t see Leonard having the same scoring potential as Zeller might, but iv watched him play a few times, and he looks pretty strong with more room to grow. He’s a legit 7’0 right now, and i cant see him getting pushed off the block much. I can see him getting a ton of putbacks for the blazers.

    Also signing Dragic.

the Blazers don’t even have a permanent GM yet.
