look for Felton to have a nice year, and Brandon Jennings to continue to mature

point guards now adays are more important than ever, in the fast pace game, no hand checking makes it impossible to stay in front of them, they are quicker than ever. I think in the league right now, there are alot of good point guards, hope I didn’t forget anyone obvious

I don’t know if you guys agree with me, but it seems like even with all this up and coming talent at the position, Paul and Williams will remain the best 2 in some order. It just seems like they have a special quality that the other lead guards lack, but I can’t exactly put my finger on it.

I think Jennings is a better point guard than curry, curry may be a better scorer but he is far behind in running a team, I guess I kinda see him as a 2 guard athough his height does not support that

I don’t know ow Chris Paul loses his spot as the best PG in the NBA because he was injured. When healthy, he is no question the best PG in the NBA.

    1. CP3 – I’ll give the one because he is the best PG defender
    2. D-Will – no comment, he’s great, I love to watch him playing and he’s probably the strongest PG
    3. Rondo – best Boston Celtic
    4. D.Rose – what a beast, his ppg and apg would be higher, but he was injured early in the season
    5. Chauncey Billups – career season, that’s why he’s 5th
    6. Nash – best passer? and he’s getting 500, 400, 900, only like six players have done that so far, but he gets it all the time
    7. Westbrook – his defense is getting better and he and not Durant were the key reasons they won 2 games against the Lakers
    8. Tony Parker – could be higher, but I didn’t see him playing on a high level forquite a long time
    9. Tyreke Evans – give him a jumper and he’ll destroy you
    10. Baron Davis – I can see him exploding next season, still a great player and the Clippers have a pretty nice team and finally a new coach

Honorable mention: J.Kidd – shit is he old, but he is still getting it done 20Eff, scoring only 10ppg, sick like seriously SICK, Monta Ellis also has 20Eff, but he scores like 24ppg or even more, J.Kidd still rules

Seriously guys, stop putting Jennings and Curry in this list they played one season, Curry sux on defense and Jennings barely shot over 400. They have talent but top 10 PG??? That’s too early

Every list should have Billups on their top ten. also Rondo is not the first option for the Celtics. Pierce obviously is with Ray Allen second. Possibly tied for 3rd w/ Garnett….

    my list IMO

D Williams- no need to question this
    R Rondo- Made huge progress
C Paul- great need to have a good year to regain his spot
    R Westbrook-Special
D Rose- Good but for what highlights?
S Nash- When he play against a good PG they hide him
T Evans- will be the best
    C Billups-that old Vet
    J Kidd-That very old vet
parker-the boring spurs make you forget about him

if rose is good for highlights whats westbrook who is not even on his level and rondo will never be better then chris paul injuries dont mean nothing if D howard got hurt and brooke lopez had a good season does that make him a better center NOO rondo is a good PG but he is a good complement player if you are starting a franchise and had the number 1 pick there are three PGs in the league who you are taking over him and thats Dwill,Cp3 and Rose despite what u may think he is a better player then rondo , and tyreke isnt even a PG at the season for like the last month he didnt even play the PG

Derrick Rose’ injury has no effect on his assist stats… It’s his teammates inability to knock down those jumpers which made his numbers in the assist department low… They couldn’t knock their shots down to save their own lives…

I love Kidd but he is a liability against faster PGs now they always seem to kill him now,its mainly because of the age,and for people not to have Aron Brooks in there top ten is crazy to me I mean the rockets weren’t far from being 8th seed and hes the reason why! If Devin Harris wasn’t on the worst team I would have him between 4 n 7

    @marcusfizer21

Okay, that’s of course one of the reasons, too.

I still don’t get how people can put Stephen Curry and Brandon Jennings in the list. Some even have Curry > Westbrook. Come on… Curry played one season. He can’t play defense, he scored 17ppg and 5apg on a team that only runs & guns, doesn’t play defense and only got around 25 wins.

Brandon Jennigs got 15ppg and 5apg, but he shot 37%. Yes, they’re both great talents, but stop overrating them, it’s too early for them to be a Top10 PG with proven players like Chauncey and TP still around.

1.Deron Williams: I give him the edge over Paul for a couple of reasons. One is obviously durability. Also Deron is a far better shooter, IMO is a better fit in his system, and lastly he’s proven to me that he can be a playoff performer. Also while Paul may be superior in the passing lanes, Deron has more versatility as a defender being able to guard 3’s.

2.Chris Paul: The unquestioned most gifted PG in the NBA. Lightning quick end to end. Creative passer and capable finisher inside. He is a terror in the passing lanes. His negatives are his size and while improved his range is not consistent.

3.Steve Nash: It’s true Nash is a bad defender, although it’s not for lack of effort. Still though Nash has the most unique skill set of any PG in the league. It’s truly rare for a PG to be one of the top 5 shooters in the NBA. Nash’s ability to knock down any shot at will makes his pick and roll lobs so much easier. You have to live with the defensive struggles with what he brings in leadership and experience.

4.Rajon Rondo: Definitely sky rocketed up the list with his playoff performance. Rondo is a great passer, slick finisher, and great defender. He does have several flaws though. His jump shot is a joke and in the finals was turned into a completely mediocre player by Kobe simply not paying attention to him above the elbow. Also defensively he does have a bit of Larry Hughes syndrome. For every steal he gets, he is twice more out of position and causes his teammates to rotate. IMO if he weren’t on a team that was so strong defensively as a unit, his risk taking might be more noticeable.

5.Chauncey Billups: As steady as they come. One of the better shooters of NBA PG’s, IMO the best defending PG in the NBA if you are truly looking at defense beyond steals. My only negative with him is that he isn’t a great penetrator and he isn’t as assertive as he should be. He is clutch though and has everything you want in a PG. Personally I’m starting to think I should have him above Rondo.

6.Derrick Rose: Absolute game changer. A freak athlete. He is such a rare specimen for his position. The Adrian Peterson of PG’s. Rose is lightning quick, has an improve jumper, and actually would have more apg if he didn’t have such horrible perimeter shooting teammates. The Bulls last year were probably only 2nd to the Bucks in bad shooting. Rose though still has work to do as a PG and still needs to work on his jump shot and defense.

7.Russell Westbrook: My favorite young PG prospect, in the long term I’ll take him over Rondo seven days of the week. Westbrook has really surprised me and developed into an excellent PG. As a prospect most made the quick comparison to someone like Monta Ellis, but Westbrook has legit PG skills. His jump shot has solid mechanics and room for major improvement unlike Rose and Rondo. He is also a freak athlete and IMO has potential to be an elite defender.

8.Tony Parker: Has been off the radar with injuries and such but he’s still a terrific player. Lightning quick and a complete PG. He could improve on the defensive end and his jumper has been failing him as of late. Still though he’s a proven championship performer.

    9. Jason Kidd: What Kidd has lost in athleticism he makes up for in experience. Despite having lost a step Kidd is shooting as good as he ever has. He’s still an elite rebounder at his position and can still guard. I think if you limit his minutes he’s still top 10. Roddy B and Barrea should get more run this year. Kidd is an all time great.

Honorable Mentions:(All kind of in one grouping for me:)
Stephen Curry: Potential is limitless but IMO his strength will always hold him back on the defensive end and he still has work to do as a PG.

Devin Harris: I just couldn’t put him on my list since his game dipped so much last year. Also he doesn’t have the best point guard skills. He’s athletic with a nice pull up jumper but he’s a fairly mediocre passer.

Brandon Jennings: He’s just too wild for me. He still has too much of a score first mentality. Also when he isn’t hot his shot can be horrendous. He seems to have no sense of when to stop shooting which is a poor trait for a PG to have. PG’s shouldn’t try to shoot themselves out of slumps. If you miss 8 or 9 shots it’s time to start initiating offense. Also while he’s good in the passing lanes he gets posted too easy.

Jameer Nelson: Strong defender and good shooter but he doesn’t really create much for his teammates.

Darren Collison: I truly believe that he would close to an allstar PG if he were a full time starter. He has a great jumper, he’s a great passer, and since college has been known as an elite defender. He’s the reason why Westbrook couldn’t play PG in college. I hope Collison has a chance to start somewhere. I hope he’s traded to the Hawks.

Other guys: Baron Davis, Andre Miller, Jarrett Jack, Mo Williams.

BTW I believe Wall will be on this list sooner than later. I also left off guys like Wade, Reke, Monta, because I don’t really view them as PG’s. They are a different breed of player. I guess I have to use the phrase “Combo guard”

My top ten would be a little like this…

    1. Chris Paul – Injury don’t change the fact that he is the best.
    2. Williams – Not a huge fan, but I’ll give him 2.
    3. Rondo – makes some of the best passes I’ve seen and edges out Nash because of his energy and D.
    4. Nash – Awesome passer, great shooter and the dude is tough.
    5. Rose – Did amazingly well to keep the Bulls at .500 after Gordon bolted and even got a win over the Cavs in the playoffs. Needs to improve shooting, but will be number 1 soon. If he were just a few inches taller he could be among the best 2-guards in the L.
    6. Billups – Is a leader, defender and clutch shooter. Everything you want from a PG, just getting on a bit.
    7. Westbrook – Game-changer, can ignite the crowd and has a very, very aggressive mindset. Love it.
    8. Jameer Nelson – Runs the pick n roll well and is a great shooter.
    9. Aaron Brooks – Bit too trigger happy for my liking, but he can put it in the hole and a deserving MIP.
    10. Andre Miller – Doesn’t get enough credit for what he does. Stepped in and kept the Blazers afloat with Roy injured.

Honourable mentions go to Kidd and Fisher; wily veterans who are defensive liabilities but still come up big.

I consider Reke a SG also.
