jjonzParticipantI posted this earlier, but without DWill as their major piece to add to Roster what can they do? I know the FA process is fluid & new, but i think Mavs are in a semi-rebuild season if they do not acquire a Top FA.
Your thoughts

aamir543ParticipantFirst they need to make sure Jason Terry stays, who was halfway out the door a couple months ago, I think Cuban should go after Nash, although my gut tells me Nash will either go to Toronto or say "screw you all" and just go to Miami. Maybe they can work a sign and trade using Mike Miller’s contract(He’s retireing anyways) so Nash doesn’t have to take the 3 mil or even less if they give that to Ray Allen.

Andrew1984ParticipantYou know what’s weird? There are fans of almost every NBA team on this website. There are tons of Warriors, Kings, Pacers, Heat, Cavaliers, Bulls fans, etc., etc. But I honestly don’t think I’ve read a single post from a Mavericks fan. Like, someone who the Mavs are the one team he really follows and roots for.
Mavs fans, where are you? We know Mr. Cuban gets bored quickly. We know Kidd is gone, Dirk is 34, VC is 35, and Shawn Marion is 34. You went 36-30, got swept by OKC, Roddy B. can’t seem to get right. Mahinmi is gone, Odom didn’t pan out. What’s your plan? What’s your future? Even Brian Cardinal is 35 and Jason Terry will be 35 by the time the season starts. Is Dominique Jones your future? Who are your building blocks? Delonte West is not a "core" player.
I am very curious what happens if Deron Williams re-signs with the Nets. Could the Mavs end up picking in the top five next year? Do you want Cody Zeller or ‘Bazzy?

rileymcshea3ParticipantI am a mavs fan ^^^ and I am right here still enjoying are championship from last year.Andrew I don’t know if your trying to make us look bad but you were probably saying this stuff about the mavs for the past 6 years since we lost in the finals but we still pulled it off with a old ass team and I know we can do it again because we have the best owner in the league in that man is mark Cuban , are team has had a 50+ win season for like the past 12 years while only having basically one guy make the all star team , so I couldn’t even imagine how good the mavs would be if we got another legit all star like deron,Dwight or any random all star because Cuban always knows how to build a team to succeed

TurnipParticipantI’m a Mavs fan.
Wright, Crowder, Jones, Cunningham, and Beaubois are younger guys (and could be an interesting small-ball lineup with some development). Dirk’s still got game. VC and SM can still do some things. AND we have plenty of cap room.
Basically I look at it like this: The Mavs wanted Lebron a couple years ago. Not getting him ended up being a blessing in diguise, as we ended up getting Chandler instead and winning the title. Not getting Deron could be the same type of thing. A bunch good little fish will feed more people than one big fish, if you will.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantMy guess is that if Williams stays with the Nets, then the next targets will be Nash and O.J. Mayo. Should they get Mayo, then they can use the Odom trade exception to go after Jarrett Jack. They could also look into Chauncey Billups. It is not an all or nothing scenerio with Deron Williams.

benny15ParticipantThey are in the dwight Howard discussions, but i really wonder what they have to offer. their young talent is Beurbois and James isnt franchie changing material. they do have cap relief to offer, draft picks as well but those arent projected to be lotto picks if dwight is with them.
Jeremy Lin has also been noted to be one of dallas’ free agent target if they miss out on Deron Williams. he’s a restricted free agency, but Cuban is the type of owner to back-load a deal to make the knicks think twice about matching the offer. a back-loaded deal for Lin with the knicks can get New York to Luxory tax territory in year three where they would be paying Melo, Amare and Chandler a combined 61 Million dollars. add Lin and a 10-15 million dollars to that and they would be paying as much as 76 mill for 4 players. not even enough players to field a starting line-up.
the back-side to this is that the knicks match the deal and then try to off-load his contract to somebody else. they’ll be entering a major risk if Lin isnt able to garner as much attention as Linsanity did, but its the kind of risks they make.

khaled_a_dParticipantI am a Mavs fan and Iknew many of us are here on this site, and yes there is a few of us but this is b/c this team always drafted in the 20’s or trade their picks in the last decade, so you won’t see many of us on a draft forum
Is there is a plan B?probably .Cuban and Nelson specialty have been always doing good trades .they rarely drafted well or made great decisions in the FA .I am starting to think our plan B will be more trades than chasing FA0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/03/2012 - 9:21pm #691964
