jaycee24ParticipantSo GRII is a decent pickup.
But Calderon and Pachulia….
Isaiah Thomas doesn’t make more sense?? What benefit will Zaza offer??
This is subtraction by addition. I’ve admired their offseason moves so far with Casey and the draft moves they’ve definitely been savvy with so little to work with but those two signings are just lazy.
Sign IT at the minimum and trade him if it doesn’t work!! Or Shabazz Napier for that matter! Why wouldn’t you want a guy like Mike Beasley for insurance in case one of our 2 bigs miss time?? Greg Monroe is praying for a 2 way deal right now. But we sign 2 washed up SCRUBS!
Detroit is tired of this from our basketball organization and the worst part is that the east is literally wide open!
Sure Boston and Philly have to be heavily favored but I wouldn’t bet my life on either of them.
Any of the players I mentioned could of nudged us into the middle to upper tier in the east but as the roster sits they’ll struggle to make the playoffs. Myself as a lifetime Pistons diehard am fed up as much as I want to support but the effort from the front office seems half hearted at best at this point.

BrentSuriaga01ParticipantHis only purpose is to hurt opponent’s best player.

XYRYXParticipantHopefully he won’t step under Blake in practice and sending his knees into oblivion…

jaycee24ParticipantI’m surprised Blake didn’t occur an injury during contract negotiations due to Zazas bad karma

Sharp ShooterParticipantI’m going to assume they have something up their sleeves. (The pistons) . Khyri Thoma remind me a lot of Reggie Jackson…they have Bruce brown, Calderon, smith and I’ve read their trying Kennard at PG. if I had to guess I’m going to assume that Reggie should b traded soon.
Watching khyri Thomas game it reminds me a tyreke/ Reggie Jackson type of player.
I would like Monroe back … in a reserved role.hell b a great punch off the bench…and wil b another asset as a high b-ball iq, pass first Big.
Your right the east is wide open…and Isaiah Thomas would b a hell of a pick up..and if his hip is fine I would like him better as the starting pg Jackson

The GoatParticipantQuite frankly, no one wants to live in Detroit. That’s a legit hindrance on getting FAs.

ChoppyParticipantDetroit was never a chance for IT. He views himself as an All Star and wants to be paid accordingly. If not, he’d settle for a team that can offer him a starting role and all the minutes he can handle. He doesn’t want to come off the bench (hence why he’s chasing Orlando). Bagging Detroit because they didn’t get someone they were never a chance of getting is crazy. Calderon and Pachulia were signings for end-of-bench veteran depth and cap relief. Nothing more.

esperanzafleet69Participantdude, calderon is 1 step above a skeleton… there was PLENTY of other options out there that were a better fit for the team that could have been had for the minimum.
i actually dont mind the pachulia signing.. although i hate him as a player.. he’s not a bad backup.

ChoppyParticipantNeither will play much, so I don’t see what the problem is. Calderon is basically an extra assistant coach that might play if desperate. At least he can hit an open 3.

jaycee24ParticipantI’d rather Stephon Marbury than Calderon! Yogi Ferrel Shelvin Mack anyone!! Calderon has been a dud since his last year in New York like what is he going to provide??? Branden Wright is still available Okafor if your gonna fill out the roster take a risk on potential rotation players not roster fillers!

celtics1982ParticipantAny interest in trading for Morris? He seems like a perfect fit and it seems you really missed him last year. With Hayward coming back, Boston won’t be able to give him many minutes.

r377ParticipantI really wanted Hezonja. Not a huge fan of little dog robinson. Hezonja’s contract wasn’t much more than Robinson’s. Not sure if they had enough cap space to offer rod hoood a contract.
PGs are dime a dozen in this league, they could of done better than Calderon.
I quite like Zaza as a signing, drummond is a bit soft and lack heart. Hopefully Zaza will toughen him up

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy’s everyone hating on Calderon. He’s not coming in to play, hes coming in to be a positive voice and help the coaches maintain structure. You only gain by signing him its not like he’s actually gonna be on the court.

esperanzafleet69Participantyou only gain by signing him but he wont be on the court? thats the biggest oxymoron ive ever read on this site. if you want him to be a positive voice and help coaches hire him as a coach.

jaycee24ParticipantThat’s the point we have 3 legit starters at best and our front office is acting like the roster is all set as is….kiss my azz

frogmanParticipantOK go find me another ‘legit starter’ for $2 million.

esperanzafleet69Participantjarrett jack, ty lawson, aaron brooks(he sign yet?), jameer nelson, mario chalmers, possibly yogi farrell.. all better than calderon.. or you can go with guys like ulis or ennis

jaycee24ParticipantWhat I’m saying is that Detroit has probably 5 players they actually want and the rest are expendable. We need to take chances not take on guys who are never intended to leave the bench. If Ish Smith goes down I’m not even comfortable with Calderon as a back up he’s just not going to drive any winning basketball

kobyzParticipantyou can do a lot worse than ZaZa as a backup center, solid signing…

Sharp ShooterParticipantThe pistons need to package Langston Gallaway, Jon Luer, Henry Ellenson and even SJ to get a legit sf. Like someone stated earlier..i like Marcus Morris as a piston.
Detroit has too much dead weight on the roster and now would e a perfect time to fix it with the east being wide open.
Ellenson is as good as he gets. He is a HUGE disappointment in the SL
Langston – was handcuffed to the bench last season. Produces when given. Needs a fresh start
SJ – Is an athlete, not a ball player. There’s a difference. Lacks b-ball iq
Jon Luer -Too soft and inconsistent, and that’s if he’s healthy.
Reggie needs to go. Ship him to Orlando or Sacramento..or a team with a lot of cap space.
I agree with the comment that ZAZAis a good signing because he will toughen Drummond.
