Malik-UniversalParticipantreally excited for andre drummond and khris middleton
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 9:15am #693746
Stevenyou know who your going to see when watching andre drummond today. Jordan Hill. Promise you that. And if you dont know what i mean by that i mean:
hes going to look lost on defense
he might have a highlight dunk or 2
his offense is going to look TERRIBLE
thats what jordan hill was when he played in the summer league, and i see drummond having the same type of game.

druneave3ParticipantShould have waited til at least after his first game to talk about how terrible he is…… you must have missed the step back j and mid-range game, along with all of those "highlight dunk or 2." He didn’t look lost on D,out of position a lot-yes, but he will learn. He changed a ton of shots and had 4 steals, 2 blocks. If you ask me I think Drummond showed today what most people thought; that he should have been drafted much higher. MKG, Waiters, Lillard, and Barnes all taken ahead of him! I can see making a case going with Beal, Robinson, and Ross over Drummond, but I would have taken Drummond second with his combination of size and athleticism, along with the way he changes the game defensively. I still would like to see so much more from him on the court as I feel he stands around too much and gets caught flat-footed way too often. Hopefully Hakeem or someone will work with him and get him to reach some of that immense potential.

Anton123ParticipantI like Jordan Hill: he has a midrange game, can defend, hustles, is athletic, rebounds, has soft hands. He was very valuable for the Lakers in the playoffs

Malik-UniversalParticipantdid drummond just pull out a step back jumper???
not bad
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 9:23am #693752
terrancebowerParticipantWhat an intriguing match-up, at least for this game. The top C prospects drafted in each of the past 2 drafts, who will have a better NBA season this year? I say Drummond because the playing time if there for him, unlike poor Kanter stuck behind Jefferson
0- Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 9:28am #693757
Anton123ParticipantJazz gotta move Jefferson, get Favors that starting spot and make Kanter the first big off the bench

ZaratukParticipantI’m impressed by Kanter post moves, talent is there he’s just focing too much. He needs to kick out on double teams

A Lil EnglishParticipantLove the block on Drummond by Kanter!!

TRC1991ParticipantYancy Gates is realllllllly slow
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:09am #693785
CodySLCParticipantKanter vs. Drummond is a great matchup for summer league. Both big strong players. Drummond’s had a nice block and showed he’s athletic, but did you see him airball that free throw? Kanters shown his rebounding and foot work down low.
Also Singler is not only hitting shot, he’s taking it to the rim hard.

SonicSabotuerEidolonI didnt know Andre was that huge . I knew he was big in college but compared to other nba players he really stands out still.Woooow his impact will be felt on the next level if he gets it together and learns how to be an annoying wall around the rim. He doesnt even need the ball passed to him offensive rebounding and being a defensive anchor can be his career .Kanter is a bull and at 18 going on 19 Andre is giving him a rough time. I was a person who was down on him his still has a long way to go but you cant teach size and today I seen he is the hulk everyone speaks of him being.
Wait untill he gets NBA trainers to work on his body plus with weight training he will be immovable.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:12am #693788
Sewok15ParticipantDrummond might be the worst free throw shooter I have ever seen. He should really look into switching to underhand or something because if you can’t shoot 30% you have a big problem.

ASAP HenryParticipantReally enjoying this game. Lot of interesting prospects that I’m excited to watch. Drummond vs. Kanter will be the matchup that I watch most closely. Also, excited to see how Alec Burks and Brandon Knight play. I’m still pretty high on Burks as a prospect. Kid gets to the free throw line at will, and he has a tight handle and excellent size for the sg position. Drummond is a player that I’m super high on and I actualy think he will end up having a better rookie year than people think. Maybe average around 6ppg, 7rpg, and 2 blks. Kanter is another guy who I think will end up being a very good center in the NBA.

WizardofOzParticipantAustin Daye looks so uncoordinated dribbling the ball.
Drummond has been quiet offensively (airballed FT ha), but he’s been playing great man D on Kanter. Kanter can’t establish post position on him.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:19am #693794
Zeke313ParticipantBrandon why did you have to miss the dunk? lol He’s struggling with his shot (and freethrows) but he’s been making some nice passes. Austin Daye is pure garbage
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:22am #693797
Zeke313ParticipantLol they should let Drummond do stepbacks at the line.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:24am #693798
Stevendrummond proving me wrong! i love it!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:25am #693799
Anton123ParticipantDrummond has to go into the gym every single day and take at least 100 free throws every time, after the 6000 or so free throw attempts you know he’ll improve
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:26am #693800
Malik-UniversalParticipantkyle singler playing real well….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:29am #693803
Anton123ParticipantSingler plays like an 10 year veteran – no athletisism, but pure shooting, very high IQ, under control, crafty finishes
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:30am #693805
rileymcshea3ParticipantDrummond air balled again!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:32am #693806
seniokasParticipantHis airballed free-throw was sick.
Still, great defensive potential, with his lenght, athletism, strength and quickness.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:34am #693808
GrandmamaParticipantDrummond with another air ball from the free throw line. It’s a nightmare when he’s shooting ft’s. I know he holds the ball too deep in his hand. They showed an up close free throw of his at UConn and I noticed he buries the ball in his hand when shooting. The ball needs to be up on his fingers more. Someone really needs to work relentlessly with his mechanics.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:35am #693810
Shanetaylor95Participant2 stepback jumpers ,and 2 airballed free throws
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:41am #693813
seniokasParticipantReally good 3rd quarter by Detroit, working on defense, but most importantly everyone playing like vets on O, moving the ball, being patient when needed, taking good shots and most importantly making them. Really impressed by Kim English and Kyle Singler, Drummond looking very well on D, rebounds very well even if not in the best position because of his length/athletism, uses quickness to go for a steal, blocks, looks very good not like at the free throw line lol
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:42am #693816
Anton123ParticipantI haven’t seen Alec Burks at all, where the heck is he?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:46am #693818
GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantDon’t get fooled by the Dummind rebounding. In the NBA they will be boxing out and the bigs will be much much better. Good potential to be a good starter in the NBA but he has a very very long way to go
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:49am #693821
jaysmith1987ParticipantUtahs players from 2011 draft are terrible. Kanter lookd slow methodical and Burks looks worse than kevin murphy there second rounder. On the other side Andre drummond looks impressive defensively they should use ben wallace as his mentor.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:53am #693825
Malik-UniversalParticipantdrummond doesnt really box out…..
hes has a lot to learn
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 10:59am #693828
Malik-UniversalParticipantmacklin blows
a lot
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:05am #693834
GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantDrummond and Perry jones have the same issue. Neither wants much contact and no mater where they are under the basketbal they always seem to try to go backwards when their is a defender on them. Perry is lucky he’s more skilled so he can get away with it more. As big as Drummind is he never tries to power through people. I think deep down he wants to be a SF
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:10am #693837
A Lil EnglishParticipantWas anybody expecting this out of Deron Washington?? I love his defense and his stroke is nice too to go with the athleticism.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:18am #693845
WizardofOzParticipantBrandon Knight is so right-hand dominant. Same exact way he was at UK. Use that left hand man lol.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:20am #693847
lalailaParticipantlike i said it before i think Drummond’s worst case is DeAndre Jordan his high floor is right around Andrew Bynum..so im not even talking about his 100% ceiling cause let alone those two things makes him top3..big steal by Detroit
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:41am #693850
Memphis MadnessParticipantI think some teams will regret passing on Andre Drummond. Even if Drummond only turns into DeAndre Jordan with a better shot and with worse free throws then he will still be great next to Greg Monroe. The Pistons got their IDEAL player.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAfter someone predicted his torching at the hands Enes Kanter (let’s call him, Woe Jolf, lol), he actually did a pretty damn good job defending the Turkish Bull. Don’t get me wrong, Andre Drummond has a long way to go and is RAW offensively. He does need to learn to box out more consistently and his back-to-the-basket game is an absolute work in progress.
Quincey is right that he does shy from contact offensively at times, though I think some of it is due to his abysmal FT shooting. Yes, he is a terrible FT shooter, but I think he will improve. Remember, DeAndre Jordan was (well, is) a pretty awful FT shooter as well. Still, did anyone see a "poor motor" this game? I didn’t, just saw a raw player at times with incredible athleticism for his size.
Enes Kanter is an absolute beast and Drummond took him head on. Was not a glamorous match-up, neither were the centerpiece of the team, I will say that Drummond got the better of the match-up (just re-played the entire game). Yes, this is Summer League. You see some players that just abuse match-ups. Still, we saw two big NBA center prospects go at it and Drummond held his own. Would be honestly surprised if Kanter does not eat most of these other big guys for lunch. Drummond legitimately bothered him and was a force on defense. Think that was all one could have wanted in his Summer League debut unless you had truly unrealistic expectations.

ASAP HenryParticipantI’m prob one of the bigger Drummond fans around to be honest. First time i saw him play in high school i was literally in awe. But someone raised an interesting point earlier. I know it was nice to see him hit 2 stepback jumpers and all, but i want to see him overpower at the rim a little bit more. The finesse game is fine, but Drummond needs to learn how to compliment using the finesse at times, and other times learning how to just bully people and dunk on their heads. He flashed that a little bit with his and-1 dunk he had, but I want to see him get better position on the offensive glass so he can cathc the ball right under the rim and just overpower people and slam it. Because physically and athletically he is ready to overpower people in the NBA. He just needs to develop more, and I hope he is as hard of a worker as he says he is because I really wanna see this kid reach his potential
