esperanzafleet69ParticipantSo, the pistons officially get Marcus morris, Danny granger, and reggie bullock for a 2020 second rounder? What a steal.. do they toss a max offer at Tobias harris now?

ChoppyParticipantSo happy to have an Aussie sign with us! 2 years with a P/O for the third year. Baynes has been learning under Tim Duncan for a few years so hopefully he’s picked up a few things. Will back up Drummond and can finish around the basket, can defend a bit, knows his role. Good value signing.

jaycee24ParticipantCan they still somehow sign Harris now? Either way this is a great deal for Detroit but particularly if we still snag Tobias. Also Id be xcited to see Aldridge in PHX and I’ve always been Brandon Knight fan. Interesting for both sides.

r377ParticipantI am not overly trilled about what the pistons have done. Sure it was only a 2020 second rounder but how good is Marcus Morris going to be without his brother ? He is due $5 mill per year for the next few seasons.
$20 mill for 3 years with Baynes is just too much. Surely we could get someone cheaper. Robin Lopez will prob go for around $10 mill. I had hoped we drafted a backup centre in the second round of the draft but that didn’t happen.
Not sure how our salary cap is looking now, I was hoping for Corey Brewer but I think the spending is coming to an end….

Malik-UniversalParticipantit was a decent trade that should help both teams… PHX clears up space and we get another wing player… bullock and granger might’ve been throw ins but idk how many players detroit has under contract.. i cant really see them making much of an impact for bullock and granger anyway

FutureNBAGMParticipantConsidering both Granger and Bullock each only have one guaranteed deal left – totaling about $3.5 mil – I think what might be best is to just waive both of them, re-sign Jackson, and then with that final roster spot sign one more center for just in case Drummond or Baynes get hurt. We’re set everywhere else, but that trade left us with a logjam at forward. Just my opinion.

Rip255Aaron Baynes actually dominates FIBA ball. He got dunked on bad by Griffin, but he’s a banger and hits a good % of his free throws. That contract’s not as bad as it looks. He can easily play 25 minutes a night.

r377ParticipantI am interested to see how Dinwiddie goes in Summer League. Would be nice if we could develop some players instead of giving up on them early. Eg. Brandon Knight, Kris Middleton, Amir Johnson, Afflalo….

Bmore_DCParticipantIf i was a Pistons fan, i wouldnt be too excited about this trade at all. Morris is a role player, Granger is next to finished, and Bullock is a prospect.
You take on money and eat up cap space. I havent liked what the Pistons have done this off-season at all.

ChoppyParticipantPistons aren’t contending this year. Just getting it out there. However, with Drummond in the middle and shooters like Ilyasova, Meeks, Morris – even other lesser shooters like Jackson, Jennings and KCP spacing the floor, the Pistons could be interesting. SVG has a history of getting the best out of role players (Jameer Nelson I’m looking at you) and I think he has a nice foundation in place. Still at least 2 years away from contention at the least (unless there’s a major FA coup) but the pieces are in place. A much better balanced side than the one we started last season with. If Stanley Johnson becomes a regular starter in those two years it could accelerate the process too. All in all a good summer for the Pistons in my opinion.

jaycee24ParticipantWell Detroit had the option to go after a RFA like Tobias Harris with a max offer, run the risk of not getting him, and then settling for whatever leftovers were left. Instead we went for a sure thing and got a solid long term deal for next year’s league minimum. The main part I like about the trade is the length of Morris’ contract. You get a decent enough player at 5 mill the next what 4 seasons? Add in the fact it took nothing I think you can deal with it. I personally would have rathered going after Harris and if not him Gerald Green but who’s to say either would have came to Detroit. I’m not excited but I am happy that we’re still flexible and at least have some depth at bargain prices. I think Stan is not REALLY trying to rock the boat with a high level player either because he wants his young core to get minutes and gel together this year.
