valentineWho do you think will win the NBA awards? My list is below, but would be good to see other peoples predictions.
MVP -Anthony Davis.
Lebron’s MVP days are probably behind him and KD is coming off surgery, so I think "the brow" is an obvious contender here.
Runner up: Steph Curry
Best. Shooter. Ever. A fan & voter favourite too.
DEFENSIVE POY – Rudy Gobert
Best Rim Protector
Runenr up: Kawhi Leonard – Best On-Ball defender
Rookie of the Year – Frank Kaminsky
STOP THE PRESS! Did he just say Frank the Tank? I think he’ll get plenty of opportunity, he’s a College Senior and could score 15&8 on good percentages and help Charlotte get an 8-seed. That could be enough this year.
Runner up – Jahlil Okafor
Coach of the Year – Greg Popovic
Runner up – Steve Kerr
6th Man – Andre Igoudala
Runner up – Lou Williams
Most Improved – MKG
This guy is a jump-shot away from being an All-Star. It would open up his slashing game so much, and his %’s already started to improve last year. Real tough award to pick though.
Runner up – Aaron Gordon
Was impressed with his Summer League play, particularly his 3pt Stroke.

6th Man: Andre Iguodala, Runner-up: David West
Most Improved: Rudy Gobert, Runner-up: Al- Farouq Aminu
Too early to tell but these are my predictions.

Memphis MadnessParticipantMVP: Russell Westbrook — best player on the planet at the all star game and for large stretches of the rest of the season.
I don’t see Steph getting back to back MVP awards. That is fairly rare.
DPOY: DeAndre Jordan — if he can shut down the rest of the league like he just shut down the Mavs he will win this award hands down.
6th man: Lou Williams — he can score and the Lakers won’t win much. So, high scoring games, and look for Lou to pad his stats a bit.
ROY: Jahlil Okafor — he might not put up 20 and 10 every night, but he looks like a guy who should be able to put up 15 and 8 in his sleep…
COY: Doc Rivers — lots of assets to work with.
Most Improved: Anthony Bennett — why not?

Sewok15ParticipantMVP- Davis – He carried them to the playoffs last year and should have got a lot more MVP votes. I think his supporting cast gets healthier and he continues to improve as well and will be the first big guy to win the MVP since Dirk in 2007.
DPOY- Gobert- The Jazz were a different team with Gobert playing over Kanter the 2nd half of the season. Guys with that kind of size aren’t supposed to move as well as he does.
6th man- Nikola Mirotic- Assuming he doesn’t start in place of Noah who was awful offensively at the end of last year. Mirotic averaged 20 a game with only one start in 15 games in the month of March.
ROY- Okafor- He is going to have ample oppurtunity since Embiid is likely out for the whole season again. The Sixers offense is still pretty bad so they will feed him early and often.
COY- Quinn Snyder- As most people imagine the Jazz are poised for a run at the playoffs. I have been a big Snyder fan since his Mizzou days.
MIP- CJ McCollum- With most of the team heading elsewhere he and Lillard look like they will be the offense. He averaged 15.6 PPG and shot over 50% from the field in 8 April games last year once he started getting more minutes.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantMVP – Anthony Davis. I fully expect Gentry to get him the value of touches & shots he needs to put up even more insane numbers.
DPOY – Rudy Gobert.
6th Man – Isaiah Thomas. Boston didn’t add any reak scoring options, meaning he’ll still be the guy when he’s in the game. Put up close to 20ppg off the bench after his trade there last year.
ROY – Emmanuel Mudiay. I don’t expect Lawson to be on the Nuggets opening day roster. NBA ready body, strong in the P&R, flashy setup guy, great in the open court.
COY – Erik Spoelstra. He never won one during the LBJ days. If they can pull a top 3 seed sans LeBron and with Wade’s injury uncertainty I think it’ll go to him.
MIP – Andre Drummond. No more Monroe poaching rebounds, I expect him to top DJ’s 15rpg from last year. Better spacing and a full year of pick & roll’s with a clear lane should lead to points in the 18/gm range as well.

Memphis MadnessParticipantAnthony Davis put up great stats two years ago and marginally better stats last year.
Unless the Pelicans win 50 plus games and/or Anthony Davis goes for 30 and 15 I don’t think he will win it.
I could actually see Rudy Gobert getting MVP votes next year if he continues to improve.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMVP: Kevin Durant – It’ll be tough to dethrone Stephen Curry and the Warriors, but a healthy Thunder team ends up with the best record in the NBA in my opinion. They’re two deep at every position and can play big or "small". I think Durant has a chip on his shoulder right now and is about to remind everyone how special he is. I think they’ll respond well to Billy Donovan too.
DPOY: Rudy Gobert – He was a better defender than DeAndre Jordan last season in my opinion. He’s going to kill the glass, block a few shots and hold opponents to less than 40% shooting at the rim. There’s a playoff spot up for grabs in the West and the Jazz could get it because of him.
ROY: Jahlil Okafor – He’s the only rookie that’ll come in and be the go-to offensive option right away. They’ll run their offense through him. He’ll average a double double. I think he’ll play with a chip… Not getting picked by the Timberwolves didn’t bother him, but I think the Lakers passing up on him definitely did.
COY: Fred Hoiberg – He’s probably a long shot, but I just have a feeling the Bulls are going to respond very well to him and he’ll be the breath of fresh air they needed. I love his uptempo offense and I think he’ll develop more cohesion between Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler. The Bulls will start this season off the healthiest they’ve been in years. Call me crazy, but I’ve got them winning the top seed in the East.
6th Man: Mo Williams – I watched him score 52 points against the Pacers last season. He’s a talented offensive player who can create his own or move without the ball. We know he knows how to play well off of LeBron and he’ll knock those shots down. He’ll be able to play well off of Kyrie Irving too.
MIP: Andre Drummond – With the departure of Greg Monroe, there’s nobody in his way. Stan Van Gundy has done his best to mold this team like those Orlando teams built around Dwight Howard. I think Drummond is about to have a big year.
