    Suns trade: P.J. Tucker

    Suns receive: Josh McRoberts

    Heat trade: Josh McRoberts

    Heat receive: P.J. Tucker

This trade works well for both teams. The Heat can use some depth at the wing position. Currently, the Heat have Luol Deng, Dwayne Wade, Justice Winslow, Zoran Dragic, and James Ennis at both wing spots. Deng and Wade are both on the downside of their careers and injuries have hampered both starters the previous two seasons. Winslow has a lot of hype coming into the league but is still a rookie on a team looking to contend in the east. Both Ennis and Zoran did not play a ton of minutes and I’m not sure Coach Spoelstra can rely on either to contribute night in and night out. Tucker gives the Heat a solid defender willing to do the dirty work. He’s also a workhorse, only missing eight games the previous three seasons. The Heat have enough scorers on the roster so having a guy who understands his role of defending, rebounding, and the occasional corner three would be a key component if the Heat want to make a deep playoff run next season.

The Suns are in need of a stretch four and McRoberts fits the bill. In limited time last season due to injury, McRoberts shot 42% from the arc and 36% the year before. With two combo guards in Bledsoe and Knight, the Suns would also benefit from McRoberts playmaking ability. One of the best playmaking big men in the league, McRoberts would be able to find both of the former Kentucky guards in transition and in the half court. He would also be able to get big man Tyson Chandler involved in the offense as well. Having a “Connect 4” like McRoberts on the team would help create more ball movement for a Suns team that was among the worst teams in terms of total assists per game. McRoberts would be a risk as he is recovering from a torn meniscus but would be a worth the flier for the Suns to take after striking out on LaMarcus Aldridge. His salary is low and he is a great locker room guy for a team looking to change the culture by adding a more veteran presence to a young team.

Not sure why you listed the trade the way you did. Makes is more confusing. Also this trade will not impact either team enough to even remember this trade a year from now.

I don’t think that’s a great trade for the Suns. Maybe I have a higher opinion of PJ Tucker but I think he’s pretty important to the Suns.

They’ve got Morris and they just drafted Warren who can play 4 as well, so the need for McRoberts isn’t all that high.

Suns badly need the PF they didn’t drafted, a PF, but Mc Roberts is not that man.

With morris gone or even gerald green, there’s only 2 SF in the roster, tucker is small himself, add a small backcourt, add the fact that PJ is the heart and soul of this team and the best perimeter d-men…

    No way.
