What are the Suns going to do? I have been a huge fan since I really started watching basketball but they are just sad to watch right now. Robert Sarver is a cheap bastard and has sold so many good picks that its really sickening. They made it to the conference finals last year and then decided to let Amare walk instead of paying him. Sarver knew he wasnt going to resign Amare and has considered trading him multiple times over the years so it blows my mind then he let Amare go for NOTHING. Right now the suns are sitting at 15-20 and seem to be one of the bubble teams that if they do sneak into the playoffs they will be looking at a first round exit and if they do barely miss the playoffs  then they will be looking at a 10-14 pick range and they will just be stuck there. Their future is really just looking horrible. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Steve Nash fan. He has also been my favorite player in the league but the suns front office HAS to do something. There was talk about sending him to the Atlanta Hawks, which is where I am from btw. The suns really dont have any good rookies and its time to trade for some picks and younger players.

One trade I was thinking about was flipping Gortat to OKC for Jeff Green. I think just go ahead and include Grant Hill in the deal so he can compete on a winning team while he finishes up his career. I am also a big OKC fan but Jeff Green might command a little too much money for me. Ibaka is learning the PF position quite well and seems like he would be a good starter. Gortat would solve their lack for a big men and his defensive mentality would fit right in with OKC. The suns would get Jeff Green and althought he is no superstar he is a good solid player that the Suns could possibly build around.

The Atlanta Hawks were rumored as a destination for Nash, but im not sure who the Hawks would be giving up to get him. Maybe we could get a Lopez + Nash for Horford? I personally wouldnt do it if I were the Hawks. Horford is an absolute beast and would be considered untouchable in my eyes.

The Suns future is very dim 🙁

Overloaded at the wing, no inside presence, best player is approaching the last years of his career. I’d say their about to go into the rebuilding process. Carters big contract expires at years end so cap room will be one positive. And there is no way the Hawks give up a young big man like Horford for an aging Nash.

I loved watching the suns play when they had Nash, Amare, Marion, and crew.

Now they just need to figure out what they want to do. I think they should look to trade Nash to a team needing a PG for the playoffs and next season or 2.

In a trade for Nash they need to look for the following.

    1. Young talent esepcially at the PF and PG spot.

    2. Cap space to aquire the positions that need to be filled.

    3. Draft picks to keep and actually use.

I really don’t feel Dragic is there future PG. I think he is best suited coming of the bench for 13-17 minutes a game. When Carter leaves they will still have Childress, Pietrus, Hill, and Dudley on the wing.

I hope they keep Dudley I think he can develop into a solid starter. Someone who won’t be a star but can play defense and get you 12-15 ppg.

With that being said I think Hill also is not in there long term plans unless he is used as a bench player.

Inside they have Gortat, Lopez, Frye, and Warrick. I think they should look to trade Lopez because I think someteam will think he still has upside to become better.

The Suns should start rebuilding as soon as possible.  They should trade Nash for a collection of young players, draft picks, and expiring while Nash value is still pretty high.  The team is full of role players and old players, and it is not likely they can turn it around quickly.  Robin Lopez has been disappointing.  Childress, Gortat, Pietrus, Frye, Warrick, Dudley are all role players.  There is nothing to build around with the current Suns.  Instead of muddling through a few years of barely making/missing playoff, they should take a few tough seasons for the future.

Vince Carter should be on the block for expiring contract + young player and/or pick.  He should still valuable for a contender and may fetch a late first rounder.

Steve Nash should be traded for a collection of young players, picks and expiring contracts.

The best young player is probably Goran Dragic, but he’s more Beno Udrih level than Tony Parker level, so he’s certainly not a player to rebuild around.  He can be a keeper though.

Rebuilding is supposed to be freeing up cap space, build the team with young talent (preferrably with the core of the team being under 25 so that it can actually be built along with a few "good" veterans to help the youngsters developed).  However, history has shown that once GM has cap space, they would do stupid signings if they can’t get the stars (e.g. Joe Dumar signing of BG and CV, Rod Thorn/Billy King signing of Morrow, Outlaw, Petro).  This is the reason why most rebuilding efforts failed.

No way i take Gorat for Green if I’m OKC. Gorat hasn’t shown to be much more then a back up center/part time starter

    Lets see….

maybe spending the Amare money on Channing Frye, Josh Childress, Hedu Turkoglu, and Hakim Warrick wasnt the best idea…
