Now, Hawes could start at the four or maybe Young could… I’m not sure… Just throwing their roster out there. Where does this team stack up in the East now with Bynum? How do they match up against the Heat?

i would defenitely start young at 4 and put in another shooter at the 3. Kwame is a center who cant step away from the basket and would only bring more attention to bynum since he has to stand 5 feet away from him to stay in his area of less suckage. Hawes is an option, but again i think young is more of a pf to be honest and that team could defenitely use a spacer on the wing.

As for the team, im a big fan of both bynum and holiday so they now become one of my next favorite teams in the league. I think they are capable of beating anyone in the east outside miami and would even make it tough against them.

They’re better now but after they collapsed at the end of the season last year, I don’t know how to feel about them. Young should start at 3 his natural position. I’d like to see how Evan Turner responds now that he’ll be getting big minutes.

 Top 3 in the East this year, are Miami, Boston, New Jersey, you then have New York and Philadelphia to fight for the 4 and 5. I think Chicago will suffer with the Derrick Rose injury, still a playoff team, just not the top of the East.

I’m a big believer in Bynum… Kevin Garnett, Roy Hibbert, Tyson Chandler, Brook Lopez… He’s going to give those guys, as well as every other center in the East, big time problems.

Even without Iguodala, the 76ers are a very good defensive team. Combine Bynum’s size in the middle with their defensive pressure on the perimeter and this team will be a top five defensive team.

This team is scary… You put a lineup of Bynum, Young/Hawes, Wright, Turner and Holiday out there and that’s a team that can really compete. 

Turner’s development now that Iguodala is gone will be very important. 

I’m expecting Bynum to have a monster season and be an MVP candidate.

 They have to be a 4th or 5th seed heading into the season with this line up. Jrue is in a contract year so I’m expecting good things from him this year and Turner FINALLY gets to have consistent touches now.  Injuries worry me, especially with Bynum’s history, but I think its a calculated risk the Sixers took.  Top 3 teams in the East are Miami, Boston, and Indy but the Sixers and Knicks and perhaps the Nets may be right there battling for the 4th seed.

 As a huge sixers fan I’m kinda upset they gave up Harkless cause I loved his upside. But I’ll take Bynum and J-Rich any day. Such a huge upgrade from that overrated mess Andre Iguodala. Nuggets fans will realize why sixers fans always complain. Now they got scoring all around. Nick Young is flying under the radar for sixers fans. People need to see how good he can be. Wright can put up numbers as well. I would like to see a better backup then Royal Ivey. Them Signing Gilbert Arenas would be a tremendous i think but thats just speculation.

they didnt so much give up on vucevic, who showed plenty of promise, as much as they just needed to include pieces that were appealing to get the trade going.  Faried is better now but with almost zero upside.

If Bynum or Turner can develop into a legit star, this team will be VERY good, very soon.

And I agree with llperez, I think Young should start at the 4 and Wright at the 3 (for the time being), trade Hawes for another SF and put Kwame at the backup C spot. My idea would only work though if Kwame could play the 5 spot well when he gets in; if he’s more of a PF than a C then it wouldn’t work

I think that Iggy(team captain, defensive stopper), Brand(only low post threat), and Williams(best Iso scorer) were their best players last year and now they are all gone. They do have a lot of young, semi proven talent, two really athletic, but raw rookies, and a superstar with a chip on his shoulder. A small logjam in the back court but less than they previously had. They fell apart at the end of last year and got through to the second round on the strength of their coach and Rose’s injury. If they all play with a chip on their shoulder, they should make the playoffs as two playoff teams got worse (Atlanta and Orlando) and only one non playoff team got significantly better (NJ, the bucks will probably still compete tho, maybe Washington??) If the details of the trade are correct, they owe 2 future first rounders now, so they really need their young players to take a huge leap this year. However, I think its more likely that its a two steps forward one step back year for them, still making the playoffs, but with things looking like they are moving in the right direction…

i honestly think the Nuggets made out like bandits, getting rid of Harrington and Afflalo’s contract for an All-Star 2/3 who is top 5 wing defender in the NBA

 I think it’s also worth mentioning Lavoy Allen for the sixers. Last year in the playoffs he played great, and showed that he can play with the likes of KG and Bass. Sixers have a knarly backcourt for the future though. But I think the problem with the Sixers is still the same. They need perimeter scoring. Turner doesn’t have a reliable shot at this time, and neither does Young. Collins is going to have his hands full making lineups that will get enough spacing for these guys.

Great trade for Philly.  If Bynum signs long term, 76’s will compete in the east for several years.  Trade helps the Lakers ( of course) and Denver as well.  The only team taking a beating is the Magic … who might have been better off with the Nets deal.

I want to see who and what we give up but I’m loving the chance to start Hawes and Bynum at Pf and C, Moultrie and Allen can play Pf too, but I wouldn’t start Moultrie yet and I want to see If Allen can be a starter in this league…

A four man rotation of Bynum, Hawes, Allen and Moultrie(who I hope becomes a steal) is great…

Holiday and Turner can be one of the best defensive/offensive backcourt for years to come

The 2 Young’s can provide a spark off the bench while Dorrell Wright is the 3 point shooter in the starting lineup

On paper this Team probally has the brightest future in The Eastern Conference, Miami has to hope Wade and Bosh hold up next to Lebron, The Celtics have a few aging parts that need to be replaced soon, The Pacers may lose West and Granger over the next few seasons and have to rely on Paul George and Hibbert’s production…The Bulls only have Rose to build around and I find it hard to see them add another Franchise player…The Knicks have an aging Amare, and a Melo that doesn’t seem to want to sacrifice his scoring for the betterment of the Team…The Nets, well…The Nets have Deron and JJ, but Wallace is bound to break down eventually and Humpries/Lopez are both kinda overated and Lopez will not match up well against Bynum 4 times a year…

I give Brooklyn and Philadelphia credit, they have real centers who will force Miami to put Joel Anthony, Birdman, Pittman, or whatever other big body they bring in to step onto the floor in the playoffs. I do not believe there is a team that can beat them by allowing Miami to play Bosh at the center and LeBron at the power forward. A team needs a bruiser to either wear them down or force Spo’s hand to trot out the parade of non-threat centers. I still do not know if it is enough, but they are willing to try.

 76ers have a good team now with Bynum but they still lost their leading scorer ( Lou Williams ) and traded their leader  ( Iggy ) and those are two big issues needed to be filled. Bynum will give them a low post threat and he demands a double team but Turner is really going to need to step it up and have a big year as well as Holiday making better decisions at the PG spot. Collins will get the best out of these guys and if he does, they can give any team fits come playoff time. Miami wont be having too much problems with them because with the loss of Iggy i am not sure who the hell they will get to guard Lebron.

Lou Williams is just another hired gunner. Jason Richardson, Dorell Wright, and Nick Young are going to fill that need just fine. Iguodala wasn’t much of a leader. He is the next generation Shawn Marion. He is a good player who hasn’t grown to realize that he isn’t a star, and the league hasn’t fully realized what capacity he needs to be in for a team to compete for a title.

Basically I see Indiana / Brooklyn / Philly fighting it out for the 3-5 seeding.  Right now I give Indiana the edge for the 3. 

No offense to Knicks fans, but until they can find a way to make that work I don’t see them higher than 5 or 6.  They do have the talent to be better than that, so we’ll see what heppens.

That gives us two ball handlers, one excellent and one very good shooter, a great rebounding guard to help out with Thad’s lack of size, and the best center in the east.  My expected rotation off the bench:

6- Nick Young

7- Spencer Hawes

8- Lavoy Allen

9- Jrich

10- Kwame

Obviously the bench playing time and the PF are subject to change as the season goes along but I think the other 4 positions are locked in unless they want to go small with Turner at the 3.

Btw, for anyone who does not know, Thad Young is a terrible outside shooter, dribbler, and passer.  He cannot play the 3.
