To start I want to say that I’m happy with the Sixers drafting Harkless and trading for Moultrie. There are very good value, guys with high potential, but there is a thing which worries me. As we all know the biggest Sixers need was scoring. They struggled throughout the postseason, they just couldnt consistenly get buckets. My concerns are related with the fact that they didnt adressed that need. For me now is the time for the 76ers to make a move, use their assets and take a step forward. I have a couple ideas and it would be nice to hear from you what to you think about them.

    1)  A sign&trade with NOH : Evan Turner and Lou Williams  and  maybe some future draft picks for Eric Gordon.

Here is why I think both things should consider this one

76ers : Eric Gordon is a perfect fit to 76ers with assuming that Turner is going other way and Iguoadala stays. He gives them just what they need. Great shooter, can drive to the basket and simply said score. He fits perfect to Holiday and Iguodala. Probably Doug Collins would love to get him.

Hornets : They drafted Rivers who I think is a great pick but I think that he is very simmilar to Eric Gordon. For me Turner is a far better compliment to Rivers and Anthony Davis. He showed that he is a point guard, in a shooting guard or even small forward body. He is a proven defender and I’m sure that Monty Williams would like him very much. I think that long term it is a very good trade for NOH. It would also help Anthony Davis.

    Projected lineups

    76ers:

    1. Holiday

    2. Gordon

    3. Iguodala

    4. Moultrie? Brand?

    5. Vucevic ? Hawes?

    NOH:

    1. Turner

    2. Rivers

    3. Aminu? Lewis

    4. Davis

    5. Okafor

Here is my next idea, a deal with GSW:

    2) Iguodala plus some pieces ( maybe Harkless ) for Barnes and Jefferson

76ers: I think that either Iguodala or Turner has to go. In this trade they are getting Barnes who is also a scorer, very good shooter and by far a better compliment to Turner and Holiday than Iguodala. He would fit in very nicely at the 3 spot. Doug Collins would probably like him very much because he is also a very nice defender. He could be a 16-18ppg player right away in my opinion and thats what they need. Holiday and Turner would create for him and he would have time to work on his ball handling. Jefferson is here to make the money work.

GSW: In my opinion the Warriors need an elite perimiter defender, I am sure that Marc Jackson would love to have Iguodala. The Warriors have elite shooters at 1 and 2 with Curry and Thompson. They are players who would rather shoot the ball then drive to the basket and now they get Barnes who also like to take a mid range jumper or a 3point than drive to the basket. What I think that Iguodala would be a perfect fit to the GSW. He could also play with the ball and allow  Curry to play of the ball.

    Projected lineups :

    76ers:

    1. Holiday

    2. Turner

    3. Barnes

    4. Moultrie ? Brand ?

    5. Vucevic ? Hawes

    GSW:

    1. Curry

    2. Thompson

    3. Iguodala

    4. Lee

    5. Bogut

I think that these are decent ideas and 76ers, Warriors and NOH should consider them. Your opinions?

I don’t know what the Sixers will do, but I don’t anticipate either of those deals happening. Moultrie had some solid offensive numbers this year with Mississippi State and he could be the inside scorer the Sixers have been lacking for a while now.

I realize it looks like Iguodala and possibly Thaddeus Young look like they’ll be dealt, but its hard to say who they could pick up that would make a big difference for them. They certainly need a scorer inside and out, but what team is in such need for Iguodala that they give up someone like that?

I’m not so sure with NOH because they seem to be very high on Gordon but GSW, with Marc Jackson talking defense, could benefit much more from having Iguodala in the lineup than Barnes.

I loved what the Sixers did last night. Harkless isn’t ready to replace Iguodala right away, however, he has a lot of potential, and could be one of the steals of the draft. The Moultrie trade was great, 2nd rounder, and protected 1st? Count me in. Moultrie is a good rebounder, good athlete, and has good range on his jump shot. He has a presence, when I saw Mississippi State play this season, he was their stand out. I think he can be a better shot blocker, but he has a lot of tools to work with.

I agree with you 100% percent but I think that they need scoring very badly and they a 18ppg guy with a nice stroke to take a step forward.

We really do need scoring, it’s tough to see who we can get though. As I think we’d have to part with Iggy and Young, or Iggy and Holiday. I don’t like the Barnes trade, only because I don’t like having two rookie SFs. I’d rather keep Iggy for another year than trade him for someone unproven like Barnes, when Harkless could end up being better than him which I don’t think is out of the realm of possibility.

He fits into their defensive scheme, but it’s confusing because they just signed Thad Young to a five year deal.  I thought a guy like Terrance Jones would be a better option, but Harkless has a lot of potential. I do like the swap to bring in Moultrie, he could be a very nice player to boost their front court and possibly replace Elton Brand as he continues to age.

It’s not that confusing. Thad, I think is better playing the 4, and Harkless will be best playing on the wing as a SF.

No need to rush anything if you are the 76ers…They could do the smart thing and keep the crew together another year…

Elton Brand is a free agent and his 18.5 million dollar contract comes off the books…Lots of money for a scorer IMO…

What they have to worry about is Right NOW is Spencer Hawes, I mean if they let him go for nothing it could be a mistake, but I like the Idea of saving the money to eventually extend Holiday/Allen and Evan Turner…Vucevic and Allen are solid options at C, and Moultrie could play there too…We also have Elton Brand to run at C for 12 to 18 minutes…

If the Sixers let Hawes go, or get back a player on his rookie deal in a sign and trade, they’d save 6 to 8 million dollars this year (Ex. Houston trades us Patterson for a resigned Spencer Hawes)

The money saved from Hawes and Williams(who opted outed out of his contract) could be used to extend an offer sheet to OJ Mayo(who could be used in a Lou Williams role as a 6th man or even become a Starting Sg next to Holiday)

Elton Brand has a huge expiring contract and will create some more cap space next season, especially if we don’t resign Hawes and reach for a player like Mayo in Free Agency this summer…Iggy has a player option next year, he could opt out looking for a longer deal with a contender and help create Max Cap space for the 76ers with the help of he and Elton Brand’s expiring contracts…The only contract larger than the rookie scale will be Thad Young at 7 or 8 million $$$

The Sixers added some longterm assets in the Draft, their core is very interesting and are among the youngest Team’s in the league, they have a solid young back court(Holiday and Turner), a great rotation of Sf’s(Iggy, Thad and Mo Harkless) and a solid trio of young Bigs(Vucevic, Allen and Moultrie the 15th, 27th and 50th picks respectively)

Iggy and Lou Williams have been around forever and it’s hard to imagine them wearing anything but Sixer’s uniforms but they could be on there way out along with Hawes and Elton Brand over the next year and a half…

We’ll need some help at Pg/Sg and Lou could be brought back at the right price, we could also go for a player like Mayo like I said before…

We also need to get a scorer in the Starting lineup and I believe Micheal Beasley should be an option, he’s a hugh risk/reward type of player at this point, but I feel he can be coached by Doug Collins and be a great scorer at Sf or Pf

Elton Brand is not a free agent.
