the lake showThis seems to be a weak draft as far as franchise players. Usually a top pick dominates at the level they are playing at (hs,college,Europe) Barnes nor Jones are doing that

Im Your FatherParticipantDo y’all think that Kyrie Irving might still have a shot at it despite the injury? I doubt it, but he was establishing himself as a serious contender before he got hurt, and if no one else really separates themselves from the pack, I feel like he could still be taken first.

gregoden08ParticipantI just don’t see it with Perry. I actually am still much higher on Barnes. I don’t think Barnes will be a franchise player, but I think he could be a very good 2nd option type player in the NBA. Once he gets over his timidness and starts taking good shots, he will be one of the best players in the country.
With Perry, he only scores off of mid range jumpers and alley oops. He’s not a natural 3, and I think people want to make him out as one because of his amazing length and athleticism, but right now he’s a face up forward. I think he will have a hard time playing 4 in the NBA because he is an average rebounder and is extremely skinny (especially lower body) and will struggle against bigger players. I think Perry is clearly a top talent, but he hasn’t shown me anything yet that would make me think he could live up to his potential. I heard he’s very coachable, so that is a plus. Hopefully he can dominate in conference play and prove me wrong!!

Michael.S.ParticipantPerry Jones has a considerably higher upside than Barnes.

gregoden08ParticipantThis is based off what?

BKKnicksfanParticipantI like Jones, I just don’t like that he seems like a guard in a forward’s body

andxxxParticipantKyrie Irving to me seems like the only legitimate franchise player in this draft

kobyzParticipantdoes Perry Jones best comparison would be Lamar Odom meet Chris Bosh?
cause he hes in his game a Lamar Odom like ball handling and perimeter skills but it’s combine with Chris Bosh type of body, athleticism and similar high post and attacking game.

MkadozaParticipantSo your saying his best comparison is Kevin Garnett kobyz? A smidge lofty. His pros and cons have been throughly discussed.

the lake showJust because Barnes isn’t dominating in year one doesn’t mean he’s not a franchise player. I think all these freshmen who come in from day one and dominate has cause some people to forget that alot of franchise players dont come in from day one and dominate. maybe its because alot of y’all are young and dont remember when players used to stay in college for more then a year and maybe those who are older have forgotten
Pat Hwing 12ppg 7reb
Grant Hill -11ppg 5reb
Paul Peirce 12ppg 5reb
Vince Carter 7ppg 3reb
Reggie Miller 4ppg 1reb
Ray Allen 12ppg 4reb
Charles Barkley 12ppg 10reb
Larry bird- couldn’t find his freshman stats at indiana but i do know he transferred

r377Participantback then alot of players used to stay 3 or 4 years in college so the quality is much better back then as it is today where most superstars will only play 1 year of college…

kobyzParticipantMkadoza – from me to say his best comparison is KG i needed to talk first of all about defense which is Garnett best attribute and i didn’t do it.0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/29/2010 - 6:46am #466690
the lake showok lets look more recent then
Brandon Roy 12.9ppg
Ron Artest 11.6 (before the brawl was a MVP candidate and allstar plus one of the best defenders int he NBA)
josh howard 9.2ppg 4.2 reb ( before injury was a AllStar)
Point being you can be a Allstar or Super star without being Great you’re freshman year. You don’t see it often now because players leave early but that doesn’t mean a freshman can’t develop into a much better player as a Jr or SR then he was as a Freshman
