Do you think if he put it all together can he turn into a kevin durant type because i watch his highlight he has the size, ball handling skills and athleticism but not the jump shot like kd

What kinda of player do you think he will be if he put it all together?

If he can put it all together I can see him being a player like Marion but not as great at scoring the ball. I can see him being like Paul George who reminds me of Shawn Marion also. He will be a really good rebounder with ability to score 18-20ppg as well as 8-10rpg not too mention use his length to disrupt the opposition.

"…if he put it all together…"

Anyone could be completely unstoppable under those circumstance.  Very few put it ALL together.

PJ3 is a very different kind of player thank KD.  The biggest attributes KD brings to the table are an elite stroke, high release/6’9" and a clutch mentality.  PJ3 has a mediocre stroke and is not a high% shooter from anywhere.  And he runs a chronic disappearing act when the pressure is on.

That said, I think he can overcome the mental issues.  I’m not so sure he’ll ever develop a KD-like stroke.  However, if he just commits himself when he’s in the game, he could become a very good player.  His potential makes me shake my head.  I hope he becomes great.

I think Tim Thomas is the best comparison.

Nah I don’t think he puts it all together.  He’s going to be one of those Darius Miles types of players who have tons of potential but never figure it out.

Better off trying to become a true pf that can stretch the floor like KG and Lamarcus Aldrige.

better than them all. Shoots it better than Thomas and is 3 inches taller. Has a better IQ than Thomas and Randolph. Stronger than Daye.

He could wind up being a Tim Thomas.  A very talented player who only shows up from time to time and teases you with his talent.

If he is Darious Miles than that would be good.  Miles was raw but he could put up points when he was healthy.  I never seen Jones handle the rock like Miles.  Miles could dribble like a point guard.  Jones looks tall and awkward sometimes.  I am not saying he does not have handles but their is just different levels.

The question was "if he puts it all together", not what do you think he will become…if he really "put it all together" he’d be what a healthy Jonathan Bender might have been lol…i wish he could be a 6’11 T-Mac, but that seems a little crazy right now

I think the best comparison is Derrick Coleman, he will be a good pro but still will probably never reach his potential.

He’s probably going to be one of those players that’ll always have potential, but we’ll never see the peak, he’ll tease us by playing like an all star one game and then disappear the following game, i’m sure we’ll see flashes reminding us of what he could be but he’ll frustrate more then flatter. Tyrus Thomas has always had potential, his PER stats are always impressive but he’s never put it all together into a season, at 25 you’d expect him to be really showing off his ability and become some sort of leader for the Bobcats, Bargnani started strong and Aldridge has been playing at an allstar caliber level for the past couple of seasons, both of those guys are key members in the locker room for their teams, Thomas just seems to be content on a new contract and isn’t really interested to help this team because it’s a lost cause, which it is but the future isn’t as bleak and he could show something so the Bobcats could pencil him in their future.

There’s no way Perry Jones could turn into a Kevin Durant type, Jones doesn’t have the heart or the mental toughness to go that far, he has the tools don’t get me wrong but when it comes down to the x’s and o’s, he falls short in my estimation. People say that being a Kevin Durant kind of player is reachable, Durant is one of the best players to be drafted in the 20th century, he’s so extraordinary and undoubtably will go down as one of the best Small Forwards to ever play and possibly one of the all-time greats. Durant is going to be the kind of player you can tell your kids that you had the opportunity to watch him in his prime.

Back on Jones, as a GM, i’d fall in love with Jones, his college career aside, the physical attributes are too good to ignore, having said that, i can imagine teams would shy away from Jones due to the ‘project’ tag, teams will have four years to work with him and after that, who knows? He could leave and get more money, after working hard to improve him as a player, Jones could simply turn his back on that team, which would make it wasted time. Paradoxically, he could re-sign and show loyality but who knows, he could bounce around the league and be trade bait. Anything could happen to this guy.

I believe playing in that Baylor system slowed down his game, plus their coach isnt known for being a great Xs & Os coach and the guards didnt get him the ball in spots to be effective…His too laid back manner will have to change once he gets to the pros,he looked uninterested in playing defense at times and often avoided contact inside….

Perry Jones hopefully will become another Rudy Gay,a highly regarded recruit that never reached his potential in college ,but blossomed in the pros… He could go anywhere from 3 to 20….

I think he’ll be a Tim Thomas-type faceup 4. They similarly lack aggression.

Has there ever been a player to average 14 and 8 as a sophmore, however, noone has any faith in his abilities. Maybe its the system. Maybe its the coach. Give the guy a chance to develop. If he goes to the right team in the right system, with the amount of talent he has, he has a chance to be good. He has much more talent than Tyrus Thomas, I don’t like that comparison at all.

I think nobody compares him to tyrus thomas… they are very different prospects.

but he has been compared to TIM thomas and there is lots of similarities between those two : size, athlecism, skills, shooting ability, lack of agressivness, upside.

I think tim thomas and anthony randolph are the best player you can compare jones to.

of those Darius Miles, Lamar Odom, Anthony Randolph guys who a coach (no matter what coach) at every level of his life wants more from. Even when those guys have great games the post game from a caoch will have a "but-he-should-be-doing-this-every-night", comments in it. Having a father or father figure that is never whole heartedly proud of you, and always half a$$es praise, is bad for a players psyche. He will be pretty good and the skies the level but you cant coach passion. Its something that a player can develop hisself if the surrounding guys demand it. Look at the tourny Terrance Jones had, in which he showed athleticism, passion and power. Was it a facade or for real? PJ3 had a moment in the Kentucky game where he did the same, pounding Anthony Davis but it quickly faded because it wasnt natural.

I’m no psychologist, I just play one on internet sites where its okay if you just make sh!t up.

im all about prospects going to the right team. if he goes to the blazers with say kendall marshall or damn lillard i cant see him sruggle that hard with the D not being able to look out for him because batum and aldriddge…but say he goes to a team that asks him to be a super star and leader of team, i dent see that going good…

He is a jump shooter. People can wish all they want about his potential, but there are two years of evidence that he doesn’t want to go inside against people his size and athleticism. If he is a good jump shooter, he’ll be fine and have a nice career. Andrea Bargnani, Rashard Lewis, and Ryan Anderson have little interest in going inside. It has not held them back. Nikola Mirotic doesn’t want to approach the paint in Europe, but that won’t keep him from having value so long as he makes his shots.  The problem is that if he is a mediocre shooter from beyond mid-range and he doesn’t want to go inside, then it is hard to see him succeed. It is hard to make a successful career as a 15-18 foot jump shooter.
