I saw this could be serious because of the way he landed. It looked Bad. Your lower leg should not bend that way. He is on the stretcher.

I know some people might disagree with this opinion, but I think that owners should have the final say whether their players play for team USA/other countries ala what the Spurs did with Ginobli. I’m as big of a supporter of USA basketball that there is, but owners and franchises have way too much invested in these guys for something like this to happen.

I didn’t know things worked like that. In soccer, the national federation and FIFA share expenses for treatment and salaries in those cases. There’s no point in letting players go to international tournaments if players will get injured and nobody will respond.

What happens when the player you just committed 25% of your salary cap is injured for a year? Your team is shot. I’m not proposing that the Pacers should be able to cut PG, but if a player gets injured, especially if he’s not participating for the team, shouldn’t the team get some kind of compensation? A first round pick? A trade exemption? Extra salary cap? The ability to pay the injured players salary, but not have it count against the cap? 

I feel really awful for PG and he has a tough road ahead. But when PG volunteered for non-Pacer basketball activities, he had no financial risk, but he is forcing the owner into a financially risky situation and the team to risk their successful season.

 It looks gruesome but it looked to be a clean break of the bones in the leg. Honestly its so much better than most knee injuries. Hopefully the recovery time is faster and he might even be able to come back this season. Heart goes out to the kid though.

Wh you have such injuries and so fast the body goes into shock and also the nerves are instantly destroyed. I know, I have had such injuries. So no need for crying, also because the only thing the body can really do is think about the pain and try to not think about the pain.

Pacers reporter Candace Buckner has some updates on the Twitter. It was a compound fracture of the fibula and tibia. Apparently it was a clean break, which is good news, but they won’t know if there is further damage until surgery is complete.  He’s getting a pin placed in his leg tonight.  No exact timetable yet.  Looking like a minimum of 6 months before he can resume anything on the court.  Likely out for the season.

First off The broken leg will be put in some kind of splint to reduce movement between the broken parts of the bones because thids usually is the reason for severe pain. 

Then X-rays will show what kind of fracture it is. Most of the tibia fractures can be reduced and stabilized with a pin or nail which lies intramedular. Nerve damage or damage of large vessels through injury or surgery is rare.

In most cases Fractures of the fibula dont have to be treated because the tibia does most of the wheight bearing. 

Afterwards there will be at least 6 weeks with reduced wheight bearing of the fractured leg. Only clean horizontal breaks can have full wheight bearing. 

After 6 to 8 weeks  X-rays will show if the fracture healed well. If it did the patient can start to walk and train more and more. 

I think after such an injury the recoverxy time to full contact scrimmage is at least 6 month . And we havent talked about any kind of complication like infection, compartment syndrome, delayed union of the bone and so on….
