Lotto StudParticipantI say a day or so ago there was a thread made with his highlights from the FIBA games. I know Aran is a busy man, but can someone please break him down. From what I seen in his clip he sure will work himself into a Lotto pick possibly this year. Don’t think the impossible is not possible, after all he is playing against foreigners that will be projected as Lotto guys in the next couple of years.

JNixonParticipantPatric Young- A supremely athletic guy with long arms at 6’8…Very strong…Explosive finisher…Very active and aggressive…Not afraid of contact…Good rebounding ability…Hard working defender…Not very skilled offensively…Not a guy you really want to run offense through alot…Foul prone…Fan favorite in Gainesville…UF will need major growth and improvement from Young as a Soph., this year will be important for him as a prospect

JNixonParticipantI don’t really, I do think he has just about all the strengths and weaknesses of a guy like Bismack Biyombo, but with less length.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI know it doesn’t really help when your comparing college players but his game and physical abilities reminds me of Thomas Robinson.

JNixonParticipantThomas Robinson is a good bit better and more polished than him offensively though, although he’s not all that polished himself.

Chilbert arenasParticipantTrue, but he’s also a year older and that’s why I thought it’d be fair to say that Young could turn into a T-Rob like prospect except even more so since he won’t be behind the Morris Twins or any other bigs for that matter.

JNixonParticipantRobinson has always been better than Patric Young offensively though, even as a Fr. when he was raw. Robinson was a mismatch ploy even early on, Young doesn’t have an offensive skill.

TMoney617Participantjoey dorsey but thats hopefully the worst case scenario. maybe he can end up being like a ben wallace type enforcer since his offense is suspect

JNixonParticipantJoey Dorsey is a great comparison I think. Probably not as good a rebounder though, but that’s a very strong comparison IMO.
Brandon Bass was/is a much more talented offensive player than Patric Young.

ilike.panochasParticipantSkill set and physical stature, he reminds me of Brandon Bass. Both 6’8 built like a tank and can jump with long wingspan.

TheLastWordParticipantFor a guy that is supposedly strong, he was manhandled by Jonas in the U19. He will have to redeem himself in college if he wants to keep his high lottery pick status.

He’ll have 2 fouls before the second media timeout against any team with a real big man, and an offensive game that consists of catching dumpoffs and dunking the ball is not working himself into a lotto pick. It means he is a lot like Kevin Seraphin. Where is this supposed upside for him to be someone who can help a bad team become good? Limited players require guys with talent (i.e. players who either went or deserved to go in the lottery in prior years) to overcome their flaws to make them look good. Those guys are all over and not hard to find. Don’t waste a lottery pick. The Warriors had been drafting those kind of big men for the past decade, and it must be stunning to believe they have only made the playoffs once in the past seventeen years.

VarnishkisParticipantall three meeting they had against Lithuania U19 this summer. Jonas averaged 25+PTS and 12+REbs against him in all three games!!! Plus fouling him out 2 times! He tries to bully opponets by using overgrown steroids pumped up body, however, when there is no brain even big body doesn’t help! I can’t see him going nowhere in top 20 next year… For me he is Kevin Seraphin comaprison with bigger body! Or actually Ideal comparison Nathan JAWAI if u still remember him!
