Crossova21ParticipantLooks like my Pacers will end up picking 10th. Wall, Turner, or Favors would be nice but it doesn’t look like thats gonna happen. Who will be the best pick for them at 10?
I like Whiteside but I doubt Bird takes him considering he’s a freshman and we already have Hibbert.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantDont give up so easy on them not getting the 1st pick..A few seasons ago the Bulls went from 9th to number 1 and selected Rose..Indiana is a strange bunch..They have good players at every position..They’re 2 deep at every spot..But they have no chemistry..and play no defense..The trading away of Artest for the 1 year rental of Peja ,the injuries to O’Neal and the Tinsley fiasco really hurt the Pacers..It was time for Artest to go..But They could’ve gotten more..Getting a top 3 pick and a better coach will do wonders for this team…

Lotto StudParticipantThere aren’t any PG’s they possibly could take because Wall will be gone, but don’t be surprised if they take a gamble on Bledsoe if they don’t take a big man.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantThe Pacers have been hot lately with Granger FINALLY hitting his stride. Their biggest need is at the point, but unfortunately this is the shallowest point guard draft in memory, and unfortunately, their biggest strength is their depth down low (Hibbert, Murphy, and Hansbrough, who’s show promise).
Still, I say they gamble on a big man, with Murphy’s contract set to expire next season (they’ll probably deal him anyways next year, his expiring contract will be one of the most sought after in the entire league). Assuming they pick somewhere 6-10, I think Greg Monroe is a great fit. He’s big, fluid, and does so many things so well (how many players 6-10 or bigger averaged as many assists as Monroe last year?). He would be a great fit alongside Hibbert. I also think Hansbrough is destined to be more of an instant energy guy off the bench. Patterson and Whiteside are also solid options, though Whiteside and Hibbert might not be so compatible.
That said, they’ll probably just pick Gordon Hayward 🙂

SupParticipantTJ ford is whack but they have enough guards to rotate. However, their center sucks but whatever. At power forward they also need help hansborough is a bust for them. Dunleavy is over with.

M-DYMESParticipantI say go after a talented big or guard in the 1st. Then, while this draft is not loaded with PG talent, it is loaded with PG leaders. In the 2nd, either move that pick along with something/someone to get back up into the 1st and get Bledsoe if you love him, or wait and draft a guy like Sherron Collins, Alexey Shved, Willie Warren, Vasquez, Armon Johnson, or move down for Scottie Reynolds.

fastdanParticipantIf NJ wins the lottery they should look into making a deal for Harris. Or possibly try to pry Collison from NO.

GETMONEYParticipanti say we hope the basketball gods are in our favor and we get a nice draw if not and xavier henry is available we take him. imo b.rush is done it was a stupid move when we got him. xavier has a nice frame and is only going to get better and would be a nice fit wit granger on the wings. he can slash and create his own shot as well. b.rush is only a role player in the league not a starter

IndianaBasketballParticipantAs a Pacers fan, I can almost guarantee you that Bird won’t take a gamble on Bledsoe. He’s not big on freshmen, let alone freshmen point guards who showed little point guard skills their freshmen season.
Here are our needs:
1. Point guard – Ford hasn’t gotten it done. Watson won’t return. Price has been better than expected and is a solid backup point guard. Obviously Wall is our guy. He’s a perfect fit for what we want to do here. We need to land the top pick. We’re a rebuilding team that’s looking forward to the summer of 2011 when we”ll have a truckload of cash. Wall and Granger would draw in whatever big free-agents are available.
2. Big man athleticism/depth – We probably have the least athletic big men in the league. We’re not scaring anybody at both ends of the court. I could see Bird picking Favors even though he’s a freshman, but not Cousins. IF we stay at ten, I could see Bird picking Aldrich. People will be critical, but Aldrich would be a very good fit here. He’ll instantly give us something we don’t have and that’s defense, rebounding and toughness in the paint. Considering the players Bird likes to draft, you’d have to think Monroe will be an option if he’s available at ten too.
Shooting guard isn’t our main need since we have Rush, Jones and Dunleavy Jr., but obviously we’d select Turner if we have the opportunity. If we land Turner, I think he’ll have a role with us similar to what Roy has with Portland. He wouldn’t be the point guard, but he’d handle the ball a lot.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAfter the first five picks, the draft drops off in my opinion. Bird is conservative, but I wouldn’t be mad if he packaged our late lottery pick with one of our expiring contracts (Ford, Dunleavy or Murphy) to bring back a piece or two that we can add to our rebuilding team.

ProudGrandpaParticipantWe need a scoring, slashing wing to compliment Granger. I bet the Pacers would draft an available Evan Turner with any pick they would get. I think they should get Xavier Henry. No good PG’s in the draft. I could also seem them taking Patrick Patterson. He is a Pacer-type player. I also think Lazar Hayward might be a guy they would take with the 40-ish pick that they have.

festar35ParticipantI have been saying this for a while but i would really like to use that lottery pick and couple of other pieces to acquire Darren Collison as the Hornets already have CP3.

raybeasParticipantCole Aldrich. They need a PG soooooo bad, but no one of value available at that pick. They were top 4, with a better chance at Wall until their annual ‘Lottery Buster’ winning streak. Their top 3 needs are 1. Coach 2. PG 3. GM.

SupParticipantAJ will develop into a starter. Get a big man, and and go for Rudy Gay in the offseason. At that point y’all would be nice.

Plus, we don’t have any money to spend this summer. We won’t have any money until next summer.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t know… I don’t know what he could do for us. He’s not a starter. I’m not sure if he can be a consistent backup point guard, playing consistent minutes. And what point would there be to have him as our third point guard?
