What does this site see in Otto Porter? Porter is a 6’8 athletic forward, who made some interesting plays for a less than outstanding Georgetown team.  He only had averages of 9.7ppg 6.8rpg 1.5apg 1.1spg .8bpg.  Now numbers aren’t everything, but why is he projected to go as high as number 7 in next years draft? I see him having that sort of potential in future drafts, but the dude doesn’t have a handle yet, doesn’t have great range as of now, and at best, I think will be a Jeff Green type player.  Not just because both go to Georgetown, but their games are legitimately simillar.  Someone explain to me why he is worth a 7th pick in the NBA draft.

He is not Jeff Green at all. He is a hard working combo forward who plays with a lot of passion and toughness. Porter is a great rebounder and defender and his numbers will improve significantly this year as the main option. He has a solid jumpshot but needs to work on his perimeter skills a littlemore. Fortunately, Porter will play on the perimeter a lot this year so I see him developing those skills.

To me he’s in the 10-18 draft range

It almost sounds like sarcasam because not only are those numbers really good but he was a freshman, and he is a very good athlete who played in the toughest divsion and has all the tools you look for in a lottery pick. Players who haven’t performed as well have gone higher including Waiters last year.

so he is a "hard working combo forward", whose numbers look very simillar to Jeff Green’s when he was in Georgetown…BUT he is not Jeff Green at all? HAHA okay.

I still don’t understand the hype  with the 7th pick.  Instead of yall just dishin out negatives someone other than the dude above me could answer the post yo

Lol, pulling out the D Waiters pick as an example is kind of sarcastic in itself.  You really agree with the Cavs picking him? Thats just the horrible Cavs staff doin work haha  And IMO i think Waiters right now is WAY better than Otto Porter.

I ain’t hating on Porter, I like his game, but he is NOT worth a 7th pick.

This is what a weak draft does to average players stock, he would’ve been a bubble first early second round pick in the 2012 NBA draft

He plays alot like Tayshaun Prince, even built like him..For someone so slender he does a good job of rebounding in traffic..Has great defensive instincts, nice fundamentals, can create his own shot and he fits in well within the framework of a team…But he’s not a great athlete, and has to get stronger…..With so many centers that might be available in next year’s draft..I see him sliding to the 14 to 25 range of the 1st round…

You cant say two players are the same just because they have the same numbers. For starters, Green is a much better shooter than Porter.

Green and Porter are very different players.  Green is much better at creating his own shot, but Porter has a higher b-ball iq and is just a smarter player.  He figures to be a better defender as well.

Its a weak draft and i dont know he is an interesting player i dont think anyone projects him to be a star but he looks like hes going to be one of those solid starters/role players that every team wants.

I like him and his story.  I think he has some real promise, but mock drafts in August are never worth shredding.  I think 7 is probably his ceiling in the draft, but I also think 25 is his floor.  I do like his versitility and he’s a pretty tough player from what I remember.  I probably only watched 5 or 6 G-town games last year, but I liked him right away.

I remember his story was cool too.  He’s from a really small town of like 600 or so and, didn’t play AAU ball and people were often questioning his level of competition, but he was starting for a Big East team as a rookie the first time I saw him (Maui Tourney) which was very early in the year.
