Rumors are starting that Rubio could be moved…possibly to the Knicks for the #4 pick and that they might do a sign and trade with Nemanja Bjelica to a number of teams that are interested in him.  I am still holding out hope that Flip decides to hire a new coach.  I was hoping for Hoiberg but that won’t be happening.  Part of my hopes that KG retires but stays with the team to help them develop young players like Towns or Okafor .

I don’t know how likely they are to land the 4 pick but beyond the top pick but what else are the T’Wolves going to do this offseason to change up their team.  Whatever happens, I hope they can dump either the K Martin or Pek contracts.  Neither is healthy and holds them back for players that a young team can build with.

Kevin Martin would be a reasonable pick up for a contending team and the T-Wolves could easily take an expiring deal back to create future cap space.

If we assume they take KAT and with Dieng on his rookie deal then Pekovic could well be moved on. Although he has had injury issues, he is still a good big man and they always have trade value.

If the T-Wolves could get 4th pick for Rubio, I’d assume they would take Mudiay unless they wanted to use LaVine as the long term PG and maybe tried to trade down for Winslow or Herzonja.

I agree that wolves should do whatever they can to try and move pekovic and martin. Both could have value for contending teams, but Minnesota is rebuilding and want to get as many minutes as possible for their younger players and all they are doing is blocking them from getting mins. It could be difficult though with their contracts.

And that dude doesn’t even fit the "triangle", anyways, so …

I’m sure Phil wouldn’t mind adding Bjelica, though. He’d be terrific (especially off the bench). Of course, obviously, nobody’s trading the 4th pick for Nemanja. And, sadly, the Knicks really don’t have anything else of value to offer, actually.

    (It’s so depressing.)

My mind would be blown if the Knicks gave up their 4th pick for Rubio.  Why wouldn’t they just draft Mudiay who will be as effective as Rubio from day one, at least by my evaluation.

I also don’t understand why the Wolves would want to get rid of Rubio.  He just seems like the perfect fit for that team to me.  He is only 24 years old but has some veteran experience.  He does all the things that team will need him to do in a few years and I still think he will end up being a decent shooter.  At least a 40% shooter.  A lineup of Towns, Wiggins, Lavine needs to get out and run.  Rubio is still good in that situation as long as he can stay healthy.  He plays good defense.  I just am not quite sure I understand why they want to trade him.  If they could net the 4th pick for him then it’s a no brainer, but I don’t think he can.  He has value to the Wolves core, but he doesn’t offer the same value to every team.  I think he is a perfect point guard going forward for this franchise.

Rubio isn’t very good, and certainly not good enough to be swapped for the 4th pick

If the knicks give up the fourth pick for Rubio, I will be done with the Knicks. Rubio can’t shoot and he is injury prone. Yes, he’ll fit in with the Triangle, but thats about it. He doesnt any significant value. Mudiay would add more potential and more value down the road. They better get more in return than just Rubio if they are trading that pick.

I think the Wolves should offer this trade to the Lakers: 1, 31, Ricky Rubio, and Anthony Bennett to the Lakers for 2, 27, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Ryan Kelly, and cash.

Let the Lakers pick first.  Then get either Towns or Okafor to put next to Julius Randle as either guy should fit.  There will also be value at 27.  Jordan Clarkson shows a lot of promise and he and LaVine would form a good (if small) backcourt.  Ryan Kelly gives them a floor spreading stretch 4.

I think the Lakers would want the FLASH of the top pick to go along with Ricky Rubio.

The T Wolves could then do the PRUDENT thing of getting a younger point guard, a promising power forward in Julius Randle, and still getting either Towns or Okafor at number 1.

The Lakers might take Okafor so that would leave the T Wolves with Towns anyway.

The Knicks aren’t trading the #4 pick for Rubio, they wouldn’t do it if he was healthy.

Pek has no trade value, cause they aren’t even sure what’s wrong with his ankles and he’s over paid.  I’m a big fan of Pek’s, he just can’t stay healthy.

I can see them trading Martin, and Bennett, or a sign and trade with Bjelicia.  The only problem with Martin is he’s our only reliable 3pt shooter, so he may stay, to start the season at least.

They are keeping their core of Shabazz, LaVine, Wiggin’s, Payne, Deing, and hopefully KAT.  These are the guys Flip wants to build around.  I think Flip wants Rubio to lead them on the court, which is a good idea.

The problem with Rubio’s rep is that people read stat’s, and that doesn’t show how much of floor general and competitor he really is.  The guy plays balls out, I’m telling you he’s a tough defender, plays hard and hates losing.  People who watch him tend to love him, but are realistic that he’s not an elite PG.  Injuries have held him back, so we’ll see what he becomes.

I’m not even sure Rubio would be worth the 40th pick, actually.

And how exactly would he be a "good fit for the triangle"? I mean, if you look up the starting PGs for each of Phil’s 11 title teams, like, pretty much all they could do was shoot.

I don’t get where this nonsense is coming from. Or why anyone would actually fall for it.

I would like to see the Wolves trade down and get Willie C.S.  Rubio passing to him would be like Nash to Stoudemire. He runs like a deer. Also you just signed Pek, you keep at the 5 and WCS plays the 4.  Pek is still an above average center.  Peks weakness is on defense, which would be made up for by CauleyStein.

I hope they trade Bjelica for a late 1st rounder. They have a log jam at the 4/5, so they need to move either Bjelica or Bennett. I doubt they get anything of value for Bennett. I think they would target either Tyus Jones or Terry Rozier.

Rubio isn’t going anywhere this offseason unless they get a top pick for him. Not saying he’s worth it, but that’s just how it is.

They have the 31st and 36th picks, and if they hold onto both of them they will take at least one euro to stash away. I think Milutinov would fit best, but Hernangomez might also be the pick. I really like Luwawu, but doubt he’s there, and not sure he fits anyways. With the other pick I think a shooting guard like Vaughn or Frazier would be perfect.

I don’t think Rubio gets traded unless its for salary cap. NY would want more than Rubio for the 4th pick. If Rubio does get traded, I see maybe to Dallas as the wolved dump him so they can free cap. Plus IMO, Rubio’s a great leader for the wolves and wolves need him to dish dimes to lavine, wiggins and towns. Although Rubio is never healthy and he’s not a great shooter, he does make everyone better, especially bigs and if the wolves decided to take towns, an athletic big I see the wolves running alot. It’s best if Rubio stays and Pek goes but no one wants that big contract for someone who can never get onto the court. Wolves needs to draft Towns and add veteran FA’s and then they can compete for a playoff spot. I would love to see Jamal Crawford come to MN if LAC drops his option which I doubt.

Pekovic needs to go, he’s already been called out on numerous occasions for not working hard enough in practice.

BUT, with his health and contract it’s going to be difficult to move him.

As far as Kevin Martin goes, I don’t think he should be moved, it’s important to keep some veterans around and apparently he’s committed to being a leader after getting a personal phone call from Glen Taylor telling him they expect him to step up and lead.

Also, KG is going to play another season, so it makes sense to put a decent team around him so they can start winning a little bit.

At this point the Timberwolves have all the young talent they could possibly need.

I do believe that Martin should have a reduced role. but I think they like him alongside Rubio and Wiggins in the starting lineup, with the UCLA bros coming off the bench.

If Saunders takes Okafor over Towns it will fly in the face of everything he said last season about getting guys that blend together, who are loyal, who provide 3 point shooting and defence, about being a more fast paced team instead of slow and plodding, about building around Rubio’s ability to run alongside Wiggins and LaVine.

I really hope the Timberwolves don’t overthink this and just take Towns.

Flip plays games in the media, which is fine, because it landed him a ridiculous package for Kevin Love.

But I hope he just does the right thing and takes Towns, especially given how good he’s been looking in workouts apparently.

So anybody who is even remotely critical of Rubio automatically receives, like, a million negs. Wow. You guys are just, like, soooo mature.

You know what? How about next time, instead of tapping "Vote down!", you take that same finger and just shove it up your butt?

I’m not saying Rubio is a great player or should be the PG of their future, but you have to realize that the team at this point is SO MUCH  better when he’s on the floor. Again not saying you’ll win the title with him in the next few years, but the young players will improve much more playing competitive games with him, than being blown out 2 times out of 3.

Rubio alone is NOT worth a top 5 pick by any means.. The Knicks are better off drafting Mudiay than trading for Ricky. Thus far I think Flip and Milt Newton have done a great job taking over the GM duties after the nightmare of the David Kahn era (error lol).

But if they trade Rubio could you see Flip going after a guy like Rondo? Before you bombard this post with negs hear me out!

I don’t see Rondo having a problem playing with his old mentor KG and getting the chance to play alongside Wigs, LaVine, Shabazz, Dieng, and Towns or Okafor. I know Rondo is far from the perfect player but he still brings a lot to the table. I just think Dallas wasn’t the right fit for him and would love a second chance to redeem himself as a teammate.

With that being said, I could see Flip using the 31 pick and Nemanja Bjelica to trade back into the 1st round and getting Tyus Jones. He would obviously backup Rondo, but it would be a great fit in my opinion.

Enough with that Rondo 2015 hype. He’s terrible since he came back from the injury, and shows no sign that it will eventually change. I’d rather have Rubio on my team right now that Rondo, even from an attitude standpoint.
