I am a big OKC fan, but I think the Thunder will not win a championship this year. They don’t have anybody down low to feed the ball to. I really would have liked to see them take somebody who can score down low in the draft last year opposed to Reggie Jackson. I can’t see anybody that will be available at 28 in the draft. I would like to see Royce White or Andrew Nicholson, but their potential could keep him in the early to mid 20s. I don’t know what they can do

They could try to trade to move up in the draft board : several draft picks reggie jackson… to grab sullinger if he falls at the end of the lottery… but that is highly improbable. Draymond Green would be great…

There is also another possibility : sign as a FA Jeff Green (worth the mid level extension)… if he’s healthy he would be the best opportunity : knows the franchise, and the roster well, good teammate…

If antawn Jamison is not greedy he could be another great solution…

Andrew Nicholson would be a great get for them late in the first round, he really knows how to score.

Kevin Jones isn’t much of a banger but he has nice footwork down low, can clear space with his wide frame and proved this year that he is adept at getting the ball in the basket from anywhere and he’ll probably be around when the Thunder are up.

I like the idea of Jameson as the chances are he will look to get on a contender but he may get better offers of playing time from another team as the Thunder have a fairly deep front court and a lot could depend on whether they resign Nazr next season.

Andrew Nicholson could fall into their draft range or maybe they look to trade up, they will have big revenues from the play off run so could maybe send a cash consideration or they look to trade maybe Aldrich who doesn’t receive much playing time and get to around 20 in the draft perhaps.

I could definitely see them packaging cash, Aldrich (who could still definitely be a good role player) and their pick, maybe to a team with 2 first-rounders. Boston picks at 21 and 22, I’m sure they would take Aldrich (they are in dire need of young big men) and the 28th pick for their #21. Thunder would be in great position to get Nicholson or White.

If they want to dream bigger they could send $3 million, Aldrich and the 28th pick to the Rockets for either the 14th or 16th picks that the Rockets hold. It’s no secret the Rockets are in the market for a franchise center and while Aldrich isn’t that, he would be the only young center on the roster and with so many young guys in dire need of playing time (Patterson, Morris) I don’t really see them even wanting to keep two mid lotto picks. Thunder could then set their sights on Meyers Leonard and Arnett Moultrie.

I think they expect Aldrich to step in and fill Nazr Mohammed’s shoes next season. They don’t expect him to be a franchise player, as they signed Perkins to a deal last year, but a guy to play tough D at PF and C as a backup because Perkins is a sub 30 mpg starter.

In games that he played 10 minutes (14 mpg average) or more he averaged 4.3 ppg 4.15 rpg 1.15 bpg and 6. spg and 93% FT for the season. That is very solid production.

Nazr Mohammed is 34 and Nick Collison is 31 and although they are both great vets to have on their team they’re pretty weak at the PF and C position off the bench and they have two years invested in developing Aldrich.  I’d just be surprised if they trade him before he gets a shot to play bigger minutes for them. I like Nicholson, but I just have a hard time they’d scrap Aldrich and reach for an unproven guy who doesn’t translate as high at the defensive end as Collison and Nazr continue to age.  I could see them adding another forward in the draft, but not trading one to get another.

Don’t forget they also have the rights to 7 footer Tibor Pleiss.

RUDEBOY, I like Jeff Taylor and Drew Gordon as options too.  I could see them going for a very versitle player like Draymond Green too.

Its hard to say who the Thunder will pick, they might go for another backup point guard like Machado,a defender like Jeff Taylor or go for more scoring and select Doron Lamb or Kevin Murphy…. Drew Gordon is moving up the board ,he can score inside and rebound, reminds me of Kenny Thomas…

I have a hard time evaluating European talent, because they may not wow you in European League basketball, but come to the NBA and be very productive
