Ok, just wanted to throw this out there. Imagine you are the GM of OKC and you have a good feeling that Durant is not going to sign a new deal. Instead of letting him walk, entertain the idea of trading him. What kind of value would you expect in return? Multiple number 1 picks over a certain period? Just wanted to get some thoughts on this although it is unlikely to happen, but there is a small chance

Best idea would be to ask Westbrook and get the players he wants, or those who would fit best around him.

Westbrook, someone, someone, Ibaka, Adams.  So one outside shooting swingman and another who can defend on one end and attack the basket at theother.

K Love was worth the top overall pick, and another player who was picked there a year before, so Durant is worth more than that.

But the teams Durant would want, and give the nod to signing to stay there, may not have the high picks that are needed to get fair value.  So it will be a tough trade for OKC.

This year, just as an example, if the Knicks get the top pick then that would be a good start for the trade.  Plus future picks, maybe a young player or two as well.  If Durant wants Knicks or Lakers, then maybe some value could be found for Durant.  If he only wants to go to Washington, OKC would get little value in a trade, if Washington work their salaries so they have space just to sign him as a free agent later.

Whoever is the GM of OKC if they trade Durant, they probably won’t be GM there much longer after that unless the trade is a huge win for them.

Durant wants to be in DC i assume. So Presti should deal KD for Beal, Otto P and a 1st.. Solid package

KD to Washington has often done the rounds, if Thunder could get Brad Beal in return plus other assets then it would be worth considering.

K-Love was traded after the Cavs had drafted Wiggins, so it would be hard to tell what Presti might do if say the Knicks or Lakers got top pick or say 2nd pick  and offered that for KD. He could easily hold out for more but if he thought KD might walk away next summer would he get a better offer than that.

If they move Durant you have to entertain the idea of losing Westbrook as well, and potentially Ibaka. I don’t know how you walk away from something like that and still have the trust or heart of those other two. Assuming both guys stay after you get rid of Durant you know you have the PG, PF, and C spots sured up for the future, and would have to build a team around Westbrooks penetration. For you guys saying they would do it for a high draft pick, wake up, the Thunder are contenders now and any compedent coach could build a contending team around that roster even without Durant. They don’t need projects, they need players.

Having a guy like Beal would be great, and he would fit perfectly next to westbrook, but you would have to assume that the Thunder would want more than that for arguably the best player in the NBA. Something along the lines of Klay Thompson/Harrison Barnes/1 or 2 first round picks seems like the only deal that I could think of that would give the Thunder proper value and match salaries.

Remember guys, Durants next contract locks him up for the prime of his career, and you can’t overlook that. If you’re going to trade for Durant you better be willing to part with the heart and soul of your franchise, even if he asks to be traded or the Thunder feel like their backs are against the wall. This situation wouldn’t be like a Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo situation were you get penny’s on the dollar. Any trade for Durant starts with another all-star caliber young player, another rotation piece, and then a first round pick…that’s where it starts, not where it will end.

Yeah if klove was almost worth thompson, barnes and a first round pick. Durant should be worth that and then some like 2 more first rounders and 3 more second rounders or draymond green. I don’t think the warriors would do that but there aren’t many teams that have the assets they have that could complete a trade for him and still have enough pieces to be a top contender, like the Cavs were able to do with lebron. They just aquired assets for 3 years then traded all of those for a very good 7 man rotation around lebron that plays to his strengths and they did that with out having to trade for Lebron

KD has never really given any indication he wants out from the Thunder and with Westbrook playing at his current level we can argue that the Thunder have two of the best three players in the NBA, certainly two out of the best five. The supporting cast of Ibaka, Adams, Kanter, Waiters, McGarry etc is still young, they have a great locker room leader in Nick Collinson and could add a good FA veteran or two who wants to be on a contender, so if they all stay sound, the roster looks good.
