mbunner23ParticipantAs an OJ Mayo fan, I would like to know everybody’s opinion on whether the Grizzlies are going to trade him or not. I know that reports are saying that he is not on the trading block, but he can’t be happy with his benching. He did play a good game last night against Golden State, and I would like to hear some good trade proposals.

jaysmith1987ParticipantOj is a classic case of a player going to the wrong team when he got there Gay was already there and then they brought in Randolph. Memphis is more in need of good role players than stars Mayo needs to be on the team were hes the man and be able to run of screens ala Ray Allen he wont be truly appreciated until he gets that oppurtunity.

cabbycabParticipantHe did look really good last night. He looked really comfortable coming off the screens and knocking down jumpers without dominating the ball. I’m not sure why Memphis played him at point during summer league….were they not confident in Conley? I haven’t too much of Grizzly basketball, but I think it is a good idea to bring him off the bench. The other starters all need touches and he can come in and score in bunches.

jdstormParticipantI don’t know if Memphis is thinking about trading him, but if they are Boston should try and get him.
OJ has a very similar game to Ray Allen and would only benefit from the best ever teaching him how to do it. this also allows boston to limit Ray’s Minutes and Keeping a great shooters legs fresh will only increase his accuracy.
One of these trades would only work after december 15 and with permission. but boston should offer Avery Bradley, either Marquis daniels or big baby, 2 first round picks and 3 million cash. and hope that memphis says yes.
Delonte and even nate robinson are also available if memphis want to include them in a deal. i think they can take on money. but they only have one spare roster spot.
What do you think Celts and griz fans. what would you give up, and what

CodySLCParticipantHim being on the bench sucks for me cuz he’s on my fantasy team lol. But in a perfect would we could get him on the Jazz haha (ya right) but he is just what we need a perimeter scorer who can shoot.

omphalosParticipantI wrote about this on my blog less than a week ago incidentally.
Three teams I identified are Lakers – possible heir to Kobe, San Antonio – to help usher in the post-TD era, and the Bobcats – in desperate need of a star player.
Can’t be bothered retyping it all so if you want a more expanded reasoning here’s the link:
http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com/2010/11/curious-case-of-oj-mayo.html
That said, this was before his surprising success off the bench thus far. He might just be the perfect sixth man to solidify the Grizzlies weak bench.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantNo i wouldnt take Harden and a pick for Mayo.and that Nets trade is terrible…Memphis still needs an upgrade at point guard..Even though Conley have improved his game..He still have poor court vision…Opposing point guards constantly beat him on defense..I really was surprised to see Memphis sign Conley to that contract..

jdstormParticipant@rudeboy why don’t you like the nets trade?
Morrow is currently the second best 3pt shooter ever by percentage, and TWill is Good, he may have some slight maturity issues, but he is someone who cares and plays hard. T Will is also a better ball handler then Mayo.
Weather you like it or not Clonley is the PG of the future. I like Xavier henry and think that he is a better player for memphis to stick with at SG being a legit 6’6 having better hops and being almost as good a shooter. As well as a rookie contract that expires 2 years later. So memphis needs bench depth on reasonable contracts, especially if you are going to keep Gasol, and either keep or replace Z bo at PF
Mayo is clearly being wasted on the bench, but the longer he stays there the more he will develop as a combo guard scorer as opposed to the starting 2 guard that he can be, this will reduce his trade value, then he will explode on his new team when given the chance or Free agency in 2 years

I May Be WrongParticipanthttp://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
Cavs get Mayo who they can run some of the offense through, can get a power forward who is similar to Hickson in Arthur, and Carroll would just be a throw in
Memphi gets a solid backup PF and IF Zach Randolph gets signed by another team, he can step in and him and Gasol would be a nice, young tandem to develope. Plus they get a sharp shooter in Parker and Gibson who can know down some threes for them as well.
Not a flashy trade but I think going to a team where he can have freedom to do his thing is his best option and thats not a bad trade I believe

bkb77ParticipantIf Memphis would trade mayo than I think Iggy would be the best trade option for both. Mayo,Thabeet,Demarre Carroll for Iggylotto protected future 1st. Memphis gets a boarderline All-star & great 2nd or 3rd option behind Gay & Randolph. & the sixers get a package of young talent. I dont know whats up woth mayo & the grizz but from the outside it is starting to look like Mayo is falling out of favor in Memphis

Mr. 19134ParticipantLets back up did somebody just say Terrence Williams is a better ball handler then Mayo? And they just sent Williams to the NBDL. Dude is in his 2nd year after entering the draft after his senior year and he still has maturity issues? T. Williams is not somebody I am trading the 3rd pick in the draft for. First off he stinks.
And Xavier Henry does not have better hops then Mayo. Mayo got a 40 inch vert.
As a Sixers fan I would trade Evan Turner for Mayo. Mayo is the type of shooting guard the Sixers really need, because he can actually shoot. Turner would actually fit in perfectly in Memphis because he is content with just being another passing cog in an offense. Turner can also handle the ball and create offense for Gay and Randolph.
If the Griz think Iggy fits on their team they can have him too. I would trade Iggy to the Grizz for just Thabeet and a bag of chips.
