Scottoant93ParticipantDuke shooting too many 3s i know they are hitting them but they need to drive more and create. also needs to defend better
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:25pm #633629
HaleParticipantCarolina looking playing pretty poor early. Duke’s hitting their 3’s. Rivers fades away too much on his shots.

HaleParticipantHenson has really imrpoved his midrange game over the past year. How he can make a 12-15 foot jumpshot but but not a FT is beyond me.

0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:37pm #633644
HaleParticipantZeller with 15 already, wow. He’s looking great, his spin move to jump hook combo is fantastic.

0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:43pm #633648
Future_ScoutOMFG is unc gonna cover up those 3s??
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:45pm #633649
HaleParticipantIt’s basically Zeller vs. Duke 3 point shooters right now. Wow.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:47pm #633651
Scottoant93Participantduke guards need to pass in the post, guards are getting selfish with those 3s
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 4:59pm #633656
Future_Scoutoh man what a game. i think unc needs to hire a good weight trainer for henson and zeller
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:02pm #633658
HaleParticipantI love this UNC team. I really hope we get a UNC-Kentucky rematch for the NC. What an amazing game that would be.

bball guyParticipantDamn nice run..Duke gotta do more then hope they can stay hot from 3 all night
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:18pm #633663
JNixonParticipantI knew Zeller would get off. Duke’s bigs are not good defenders head-to-head against quality bigs. Zeller still is soft and not very strong though, but he’s a good athlete who runs the floor the best out of any C in the nation so he can get easy buckets just off that, especially with Kendall Marshall running the show.
Harrison Barnes has shown no off the dribble game this year, not just this game. He’s too easy to defend. He has not improve his handle or ability to create for himself this year. He’s basically a passive jump shooter with size. He’s average on D, a good rebounder, but he is an unimaginative shot creator and struggles to get good shots. He got to the free throw line because he’s an instinctive rebounder who drew contact fighting for boards and getting up shots on the offensive glass.
Kendall Marshall is the best PG in the country. He is an unreal passer, even though he has forced the issue a little more than usual this game, as both a passer and scorer. He’s been effective as usual though.
Henson has a solid 15-18 ft shot now, and it helps him. He can use his length to get garbage baskets still, and he’s still a monster rebounder and shot-blocking presence, but he still is a bit weak.
Andre Dawkins has a really nice shot. He is near automatic with time and space, even if he is missing more than normal (I always joke and say I’ve never seen him miss a shot before, lol).
Austin Rivers is a dynamite scorer, with a nice jumper and a great 1st step and handle, but he makes bad decisions. It’s the main thing holding him. That and he’s a mediocre defender.
James McAdoo isn’t very good right now. He plays nervous and throws up at least 2-3 ugly shots every game. 1-and-done hype before the year? Seems like a 4 year player.
Mason Plumlee has been active somewhat, but he’s not a great rebounder on the defensive end. He’s still more style than substance. Great athlete with nice size, but fundamentals and awareness lack.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:22pm #633667
HaleParticipantYeah, I haven’t seen McAdoo do anything on either side of the ball in any game this year.

HaleParticipantHuge run. Barnes showing up finally!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:38pm #633676
JNixonParticipantHarrison Barnes is actually dribbling the ball and subsequently putting it in the rim. Duke is in trouble.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:41pm #633678
Future_Scouti was not aware of barnes great post game
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:50pm #633683
apb540ParticipantThose are two of my favorite prospects and they have both showed up this game. As much as Barnes gets knocked for what he can’t do, he is really really good at what he can do. I really believe the sky is the limit for this young man.
Zeller’s post game has improved every single year. That jump hook he does in the lane is a tough shot to stop and he runs the floor incredibly well. Add that to his intesity and height and you have a nice NBA prospect.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 5:53pm #633684
Future_Scoutactually my thing with zeller is that he is a good college player but is not a good prospect for the nba
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:04pm #633689
apb540ParticipantI don’t by any means think he should be picked high but any where past 18 wouldn’t be a bad slot imo. 4 year player, good offensive skills, rebounds as well as he can, runs the floor, and plays hard. He obviously has his limitations but I’d be kind of surprised if he didn’t stick around in the NBA.

Future_Scoutdick said it best, with all these 3 point shooters the comeback can happen

0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:17pm #633705
Future_ScoutWHY. DID. HE. GIVE. HIM. SPACE? is not like he’s gonna try burning by you with 2 sec left. OBVIOUSLY he looking for the 3. wow… what a bum
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:18pm #633711
Dale WorthingtonParticipantI have to be honest…
UNC has definitely underperformed for me.
With Barnes, Marshall, Zeller, and Henson back I honestly thought they would have a shot at being undefeated at this point.
But they didn’t show up against FSU (lost by 33!) and completely turded the bed with minutes to go on on their home floor in this one.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:19pm #633706
apb540ParticipantThat is the definition of a clutch shot. Rivers is crazy confident; mad props.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:19pm #633708
JNixonParticipantAustin Rivers is confident as hell for that. GREAT PLAY, GREAT GAME.

0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:20pm #633710
apb540ParticipantI think I cursed Zeller lol missed FT’s, tip-in for Duke, missed defensive rebounds, and that pathetic defensive effort.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:23pm #633712
WizardofOzParticipantZeller cost UNC the game.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:24pm #633716
The Dirty SanchezParticipantZeller must feel horrible he singe handely lost the game for UNC with the tip in missed free throw and horrible D on rivers buzzer beater
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:25pm #633715
Steventhe fuck… zeller didnt cost them shit. and im a austin rivers nut hugger…. he tipped in a shot (he didnt mean to) he missed FT’s so did other UNC players (not at the end of the game, but so what) and he didnt foul austin rivers got a hand in his face…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 6:52pm #633735
YurpleHazEParticipantUNC really missed strickland this game….especially on the defensive end..that was turrible d on the final possesion..im not discrediting duke but the heels lost the game more than duke won it……they choked..
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/08/2012 - 7:00pm #633740
BiggysmallsParticipantWhat a game. I still feel like UNC is the better team and right there with Kentucky in terms of pure talent, but its so hard to predict how they will fare in the tourney. I could see them winning the ship, and yet if the matchup is right I wouldnt be shocked if they are ousted in the Sweet 16, same goes for Kentucky due to their youth, and Syracuse due to their lack of a true half court offense.
This UNC team just isnt the same caliber as the Hansbrough Lawson led squad but that might be a top 10 all time UNC team. I think that they checked out with about 5 minutes to go in this one and Duke just kept fighting. Congrats to them on a crazy comeback where literally nobody couldve predicted that outcome.
I like Rivers game alot, but I think his best role in the NBA is as an instant offense 6th man Jason Terry type player. He is a combo guard, insanely quick, streaky jump shooter but has the whole package offensively. Dick thinks hes staying another year, but tonight was a big time stock booster for him and with Perry Jones, Drummond, Sullinger, and Lamb all showing some serious flaws, this draft class may be looking a bit weaker and he has a big chance to move up some boards.
Idk who said Harrison Barnes is easy to defend, but they are wrong. The kid took over the game for a while in the 2nd half, hes done that on multiple occasions this season and has shown that killer instinct in spurts this season. His handles are not elite right now, but I will take a less athletic player who consistently is getting better and does not settle, over an uber athletic, dumb one everyday of the week. He is my favorite player in the draft and I just don’t see him not being at least a rock solid 2nd option scorer for somebody.

Ghost01ParticipantI wonder how many more "Austin Rivers should stay one more year" boards are going to pop up in the next few days….probably not many. He really showed he is a primetime player who can carry a team tonight.
