obviously a football school, now has an elite basketball program. They beat North Carolina on the road 72-71 and just beat a very good Duke team 77-73 at home. Programs like Carolina, Kentucky, Duke and Kansas are getting the elite top ten recruits year in and year out, but it’s programs like UVA and Notre Dame this year that are really good with few to no Mcdonald’s all-americans. UVA doesn’t have any and I don’t know if Notre Dame has any or not. In the era of the one and done, it is GREAT for college basketball to have programs like Gonzaga, VCU, Notre Dame and UVA to be among the best in college basketball with great coaching and good, but not elite players that have bought into a system and play with a chip on their shoulder every night. It is great for recruiting because guys that aren’t getting recruited by the Kansas’ and Kentucky’s know they can go to a program like a Gonzaga or UVA and compete with the best. Shout out to Jerian Grant for stopping the court rush at the end. Notre Dame should EXPECT to beat the likes of Duke and home now and there shouldn’t be any court storming for a team expecting to win. College basketball is better than ever and I believe the rise of other programs not called Kentucky, Duke or Carolina is a huge reason for it.
