ChewyParticipantPartially in response to OhCanada’s creative challenge…
I thought the Sixers found some nice late gems in Korkmaz and Luwawu. Neither looked ready immediately, but both showed promise to be very good role players in a few years.
People who follow the Sixers more closely than me, how are they doing so far? Hows their development?

Lotto StudParticipantA lot of Sixers’ fans are eating their words about Jahlil Okafor from what I see in their sports group.

ChewyParticipantJah for cheap. Noel was traded for practically nothing. Maybe they dump Jah so that they don’t have to pay him?
Oakafor and Mirotic would make the worst defensive duo in the league. Maybe Oak and Portis wouldnt suck as bad, but still nothing special. But the Bulls suck, so any talent is an improvement.
Hoiberg wants spacing and to jack up a lot of threes. We have two stretch 4’s in Niko and Lauri. Bobby Portis has shown he can he 3s at a slightly below average rate. They would stay out of Oakafor’s way and benefit from his low post moves.
Bulls guards have shown in the preseason that they need ball movement to get open. There is no Tony Parker, CP3 PG getting into the lane for kick outs. (Dunn does it, but not enough to have an offense rely on it). We have no wing creators that can go one on one like Crawford, George, Melo ect. The ONLY way people have been getting open in preseason has been fastbreaks and ball swings.
If we have Oakafor, he would demand a double team, then he kicks out, then we swing the ball and then we jack up a 3. That or Jahlil shoot it. That is a much more promising offense than what we currently have.

EndlessknightParticipantBoth are project wings with slightly different strengths and weaknesses.
TLC has good athleticism and size with a nice shooting stroke. His ceiling is a high end 3 and D guy if he keeps improving his 3-ball, and given that he’s a 85% FT shooter I think he will.
Korkmaz has good height/length and a high skill level, especially shooting. Hit 50% of his 3’s in preseason, 5/10, in only 12 mpg. Offensively he has a lot to offer in the NBA but he’s very weak and a poor defender. He if can become a average defender his ceiling is a great 3 option on a elite team
Well that’s on SIxers’ fan opinion.

220ParticipantI agree overall. I’d add that TLC is pretty solid attacking the rim and handling the ball as well. He looks like a future NBA rotation worthy player on any team at his current rate of development.
Kormaz probably should have stayed overseas a bit longer. As you stated he’s pretty weak at this point and a poor defender from what I’ve seen.
