JoeWolf1Often times no buzz often signals a slip and I’ve heard virtually nothing this past week good or bad about Tyler Zeller, other than he measured out to be a legit 7 footer. Although, I feel his height and skill set cement him in the first round (personally I still think he’s a worth a late lotto pick), pretty much no one is talking about him and it seems that Meyers Leonard may have passed him on many boards.
I don’t think there is any way Zeller slips past Boston at 21, but what do you guys think about this lack of talk and what do you feel his ceiling and floor are?

sheltwon3ParticipantSince Meyers is going to be top 10 now, I figured Milwaukee would grab him. They need someone to replace Bogut and they have a lot of Power forwards. Jennings is their point guard and Ellis is their two. They are really only drafting a small forward or Center.

TyroberParticipantHe is still a legit 7footer. I think his absolute floor is the Magic at 19. If they do something with Dwight they are literally left without a center on the roster. I can see him going anywhere from 9-19 which a high chance he goes in the 14-19 range.

JoeWolf1^I have a hard time thinking Houston would pass on him. They have been very active trying to find a center and you’d have to figure a guy like McHale would love to get his hands on a guy who’s already a skilled 7 footer.

FUNKYBUNCHParticipantI think you’re on the money there. Zeller could slip a bit. Depends on how the fit is with the philosophy of a big on a certain team. I think Leonard got a lot of buzz from the combine and will go higher than Zeller. Zeller is first round material for sure, but he’s no lock anywhere really. He can go as high as 9 but I doubt it. People may say I’m crazy here, but I like Festus Ezeli and I could see someone reaching for him just because he is so good on defense and he played big in big games. When there is no buzz though- you are right, could very well be a slip…

Sewok15ParticipantWith his ability to run the floor and his nice jump hook he should fit in with pretty much any team in need of a Center (which is most teams in the league today). I don’t think he gets a lot of buzz because he isn’t super athletic and you know what you are getting with him. His position will depend heavily on where other players with more potential like Leonard and PJ3 end up going. I would say the Bucks make a lot sense at 12 and if he doesn’t go there he should not slip too far. I actually see Henson slipping more than Zeller because of his lack of strength.

acantareParticipantAs a celtics fan I can’t see Zeller falling past 15 without someone trading up to get him. If I were Danny Ainge I would easily trade 21+22 for Zeller. He might not have a high ceiling but his size, mobility and skill set is hard to come buy.

SpacegrassParticipantThe NBA buzz on Zeller locally is that the 7ft wingspan has hurt him as a draft prospect some. He seemed like a lotto lock a couple weeks ago now he looks to fall anywhere between 11-19 I suspect. His wingspan makes people question his defensive ability as Center , that is his biggest knock. This same issue could cause his brother to drop out of the top 5 next year , Cody is 6’11 yet has only a 6’9 wingspan.

F_Si dont think there is any way he goes past the rockets

Meditated StatesParticipantI hope the Celtics can get him without trading up so they can add one more 1st round player. Always thought Zeller would be a good fit but assumed he would be off the board.

WizardofOzParticipantHe has T-rex arms and an 8’8" standing reach. I think that’ll cause him to drop a little, but I think he can be a good 3rd big off the bench with his skill set.

F_S3rd big? the guy is a 7 footer who can still add a couple pounds to his thin frame. his iq for a big man is very hi despite his lack of post passing. he knows how to get his shot off even tho he’s not that athletic, specially in the post.
i think he can be a decent center, and centers are hard to get.
highest- pistons at 9
lowest- rockets at 16
