MalcolmxParticipantI tried to give him the benefit of a doubt. With him being Athletic and tall and long I was thinking someone would take a flyer on him. Now I change my mind. I just watched a workout of his in front of NBA scouts and he dropped passes a couple times and I’m just 5:30 minutes into the video. Also two other players are in the workout,so every second of the video is not featuring him. He also missed a few dunks and lay ups. He’s 6’10 with a 7’2 wingspan and a 30 plus vert. I believe people with those gifts should not be missing wide open dunks and lay ups in a workout. Especially when your hanging on for dare life to be drafted. What does anyone else think of him?
Here is the video in case you would like to see:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k1BKB702F8&feature=youtu.be

mike_r232ParticipantHe doesn’t look fluid at all when catching the ball on these curls. Looks like he might get called for a travel if he has any sort of defender in the way. I’m hoping that he is just a bit rusty. He’s a great story and would love to see him succeed, but damn!

Studentofthegame7ParticipantAs you may or may not know, the NBA drafts on potential. I looked at Norvel’s workout objectively. In my opinion, he looked extremely nervous and rusty. You have to take in consideration that he’s only 20 years old, never played NCAA basketball let alone worked out in front of 15 NBA teams. No excuses though. At 6’11 he handled the ball pretty well. His FT shooting shooting was pretty impressive ( something big’s normally can’t do) . His Foot work in the post was decent but not great, he showed he could finish with either hand (upside). If you go back to the YouTube vid at 38:40 when they through it off the rim, Norvel took it from end to end with 3 dribbles, jumped off his right foot and dunked it with his left hand, and on the way back he pushed the ball up with three dribbles and jumped off his left foot and finished with his right hand. That shit was impressive. (I think you guys missed that) His shot wasn’t falling, but his form looked pretty good, especially being 6″11
Weaknesses: He didn’t look like he wasn’t in good shape shape(can be corrected), his jump shot wasn’t consistent (if he puts in the work, He could develop a nice jump shot as did Serge Ibaka) He’s pretty thin, weight will come with age and a nice salary,( If he doesnt blow it) . He will have to develop a better handle, NBA teams are not going to have him curling off picks or bringing the ball up. Lol) He needs to work on his footwork, and most importantly he needs turn his motor on. If you look at his game film, he’s the fastest man on the floor, proof that he does have a motor.
Closing remarks, Norvel Pelle is a project, and the NBA is known for drafting projects. Obviously the scouts saw something you guys didn’t see, because he was invited to the NBA Combine in Chicago, which features the best of the best NBA prospects, even some of the best collegiate player didn’t get invited. It will be interesting to see what he does against competition. May God bless the child that can hold his own” 2pac

JoeWolf1To me, he looked the worst of all the center prospects, but his upside and enigma could still get him picked up 55-60.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI would take a flyer on him if I am a complete team. What is the worst that can happen? 2nd rounders are cut all the time. What is the best that could happen? You steal a Birdman type player.
I see no harm in having him in camp or on your D-League team.
