If Noah Vonleh develops properly, I think he has the potential to develop into a special player that is very similar to David West and/or Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Aran Smith originally compared Noah Vonleh to Jamaal Mashburn. Which is a bad comparison to me, because Jamaal Mashburn in my opinion had elite level perimeter skills that is very similar to Joe Johnson’s overall skill set.

Noah Vonleh is intriguing to me because:
    1. He plays with a great combination of poise, toughness, and patience
    2. Athletically he has been blessed with a very good combination of size, length, strength, quickness, agility, and mobility
    3. He has the potential to develop into a very offensively talented power forward who can use advanced dribble moves that help him create space and driving angles and that also force his defender to play off balance and out of position. He has a solid foundation of decent / dynamic post skills( example: he can utilize a fadeway, jumphook, spin move, power dribble, dropstep, up & under, etc ) and he has underrated footwork on the perimeter. He’s a talented finisher who can finish lay-ups and shots around the rim with touch and strength. And he’s a good shooter who utilizes good shooting mechanics and proper form
    4. And he has the instincts, skill level, and talent that potentially will help him develop into a great rebounder and passer

I like him and hope that he stays in college for 2 to 3 years, for the purpose of maximizing his skills in ways that will help him be an immediate high level impact player when he decides to play in the NBA.

Abdur-Rahim was one of my favorite players back then when he was with the Grizzlies in Vancouver.

Somehow I like Vonleh very much and watched some of his clips and was very impressed. Only real knock on him is his outside shot, the rest is very much to like. I didn’t like the Mashburn comparison cause like the thread creator said Mashburn was way more perimeter oriented, more of a longer Glen Rice without the automatic 3.

People forget that the Raptors version of Bosh was a beast and at some point it wasn’t clear if he moves more into a defensive minded player with a nice midrange game and good post moves but then he discovered he can shoot the 3 and that completely changed his game.

I like both Bosh and Abdur-Rahim as what Vonleh can be. One more old school and less perimeter oriented and more defensive minded than what Bosh has become.

When Abdur-Rahim and Garnett started to hit their primes I always wanted to pair them up and I always did it on NBA Live cause I really thought they would have complimented each other very well.

Right now I love the idea of pairing Vonleh with Anthony Davis in NO

You don’t develop or maximize skills in the NCAA, you develop their damn wallets.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim is pretty spot on. People forget about him but he was a very good player and I can definitely see a lot of his game in Vonleh.
