r377ParticipantWith Parker going down, most ppl think ROY comes down to Noel and Wiggins. Not saying Mirotic is going to win.
In December Mirotic is averaging 11ppg 6reb in just 21 mins. 45% fg and 41% from 3pts. He exploded at Memphis for 27pts 6/6 from 3’s.
Wiggins Dec 12ppg @ 36%. He did shoot 40% in November.

trelos6ParticipantI think this ROY race could come down to a few candidates.
Mirotic is definitely in the running along with Wiggins.
Smart has been given the reins to the Celtics and he could finish strongly.
Finally Noel and McDaniels in Philly are options due to the suckiness of the 76ers

GBeeParticipanthe wont win ROY unless the bulls trade a frontcourt player to free up more minutes or if the injury problems continue throughout the season. but thats ok, its a stupid award anyway that pretty much rewards volume and minutes, not actually how good a rookie is.
he’s clearly the best basketball player among the rookie class though, but that’s because he’s not really a rookie. he’s got way more experience playing against men.

Tedy BukasaParticipantElfrid Payton started alongside Victor Oladipo last game for the Magic as well, following a game where he went 11 and 11. He’s still averaging 5apg and could finish out strong as well. Very open race with Jabari out, he was starting to put everything together.

ropeParticipantROY or not, I love the way Mirotic throws himself around the court. It’s like a reasonable hybrid of TOny Kukoc and Kurt Rambis. I’d like him on my team.

Moon RiverParticipantHe has a little Andres Nocioni in him as well. Except he is taller and can shoot. Seriously, like Mirotic a lot and is a great fit for Thibs and the Bulls.

B-ball fanParticipantEven NBA.com is calling him the runaway leader for the award. Wiggins gets many more minutes, but Mirotic is more productive and efficient when he is on the court. Plus Mirotic is on a good team. I see no reason he should not be the favorite, other than the fact that the ROY usually goes to the player with the most PPG.

ExumInfernoParticipantMirotic is like a combination of Vlade Divac and James Harden.
If Wiggins and others hit a "rookie wall", and Mirotic gets some extended playing time if one of their big three inside players is injured, then Mirotic could win the rookie award.

OhCanada-ParticipantMitotic has no chance. Statistically and based on which rookie is currently the best player he could likely win but when popularity and invested money go Wiggins takes the cake. They hype the guy up and sell tons of his jerseys overprice his memorabilia and then don’t reward him with a trophy after all the revenue he generated for them and the integral role he played in their news feed from day to day. They have to justify their product they have been selling to us which also goes for all the media darlings that have said how amazing he is and how he is the next Lebron or Kobe. They now have to justify those comments. Of course they will tell you its a run away but when I watch I think wow Wiggins has inconaistant agressiveness, no leadership values in a mans league and although his athletisism hides it at times his offensive skill and ball iq is very raw. I end up talking about what he can’t do yet because expectations were much higher for him and he is not a complete player.
Wiggins would not be a rotation player on about 4-6 NBA teams. Whereas Mitotic is a very good player and on most teams not named the Bulls he would average 26-30 mpg. He is much grittier than earlier expected and can score in a bunch of ways.

Ghost01ParticipantIt’s pretty simple for me. He won’t win ROY because he won’t get the minutes to accumulate the counting stats, but he is clearly the best rookie right now.
