RotelaParticipantGet to know the next best thing in basketball, In 4 years I expect the Nigerian team to be in the top 3 in the World just behind Spain and knocking on the door of Team USA, we are working hard to get our sons and daughters back, take a look at each player here, and thanks the USA basketball for making this happen !!!!! I would also like to see a Nigerian NFL team with Usi Umenyiora, Prince Amukamara, Amobi Okoye and Nnamdi Asomugha…

Wahoo757ParticipantSo you’re saying they can field a team with 20 defensive linemen and a couple defensive backs? Have fun with that.

JoeWolf1I’m really glad you have excitement for the Nigerian team, but I don’t know how a team that sports on former NBA player who struggled to ever find a spot in the league and a guy who averaged 6 ppg for a losing squad could step on to the court with Spain or Team U.S.A. and come close to beating them.

ProudGrandpaParticipantHakeem Olajuwon reincarnated in his prime could not get this team even a bronze medal

phila9012ParticipantNobody cares about it, and you keep posting links to your super biased blog about them. I dont care about some random average international team made up of americans, even though you think they should have more americans on it and that is why they stink. To me players should play for what ever country they lived most of their lives in. They have one scrub NBA player(aminu is not that good, he cant shoot, and couldnt get time for the hornets) and 10 guys who werent good enough to stick in the NBA for very long and ike diogu (who goes by the american pronouciation of ike) he played 5 years as a tenth or 11th man on nba teams. I respect nigeria and their culture and it is nothing against them, it is just the stupid people like you that act like your team has a chance, that is like me saying the timberwolves(my favorite team) have a roster that can get to the nba finals and challenge lebron this year or next. They cant they have kevin love and they cant match up with the heat or thunder.

RotelaParticipantdamn why is this guy so emotional lol, didnt mean to get you upset,…..To be honest Nigerians are just proud that we now have a basketball team that we can boast of. Hakeem Olajuwon was the first to put us on the map, but he played for the US and still is very underated even though he owns the center position….I’m just so happy that we finally have a team that can go toe to toe with the best in the world, we did beat Greece and Lithuania…..
Ps you can take the Lion out of the jungle, but it will still always be a Lion….As long as someone has a Nigerian parent, he is Nigerian no matter where he grew up, we Nigerians recognise our own thats why we give our kids Nigerian names, so that they can always trace their roots no matter where they are.

RotelaParticipantI hope this ends all arguements
When a team like Nigeria men’s basketball have nine players that were born in the United States, it is not strange that people ask them how close they feel to their country.
"Stop doing that," said Ike Diogu the team’s best player, after a training session at the Basketball Arena on Thursday.
"Every time someone asks us about the fact that we weren’t born in Nigeria, I tell them that is a bad question."
Only Olumide Oyedeji, Tony Skinn and Ejike Ugboaja were born in Nigeria, but Diogu added: "We all have Nigerian parents, almost all of us speak more than one language, we eat Nigerian food, we feel Nigerians."
Nigeria were the last team to qualify for London 2012 as they beat Dominican Republic in the decisive match at the Olympic qualifying tournament, played in Venezuela earlier in July.

He is a clown for saying they will be top 3 in the world with their current talent pool.
You are a much bigger clown for suggesting that they have 1-2 players that can play in the NBA. They have numerous players that can play in the NBA.
Grow the hell up.

rotella is a huge homer and is going way overboard. Nigeria only qualified because the refs pushed them extremeley hard in every game they played at qualification tournament.
However, you are being a huge douche bag. Nigeria, even in the current squad has numerous players that could easily play in the NBA.
No matter how annoying of a homer rotella is, NBA only fan idiots like you are still 100 times worse of trolls.
