At #6, who will they take? nbadraft.net has had them taking Trey Burke for a while now, but I still can’t seem to see why they would take a PG when they have other, more important needs. Vasquez did very well for them last year as a true floor general. Aminu is a solid three but New Orleans needs an offesive minded 3. Muhammed seems like that fit there, but they havent even taken interst in him at all, and frankly he wouldnt be a good fit anyways. A need for them is the PF/C spot. It still remains unclear if Anthony Davis will play the 4 or 5 (personally, i believe he is better suited for the 4) but New Orleans has said that they want him at the 5. That being said, I see Cody Zeller as being a great fit here. He is a 7′ PF with range and athleticism. Thoughts on that pick? And if different, what do you have the Hornets (refusing to use Pelicans) doing with #6?

I still think they should target a small forward. Last I checked, they dont have any currently under contract and Aminu might not be back since hes a UFA. Shabazz Muhammad would be a good pick, but I think #6 is a little high.

I’m very high on Trey Burke and think he will be an allstar in this draft. If he slips past the Hornets I am confident it will be the biggest mistake they have ever made. Zeller might be a solid pick though if they pss on burke though.

The Pelicans clearly don’t need another four man. That’s their deepest position on the roster with Anthony Davis (yes, he’s a four) and Ryan Anderson. This pretty much takes Anthony Bennett out of consideration and maybe even Cody Zeller depending on if the Pelicans see him as more of a four than a five.

I think the Pelicans board looks like this:

    1. Otto Porter
    2. Alex Len
    3. Trey Burke

IF Trey Burke is there, they’ll take him. I don’t think the Pelicans are sold on Greivis Vasquez as a starter.

I think they should pick Steven Adams…I mean what do they have to lose…he is already showing a lot of promise might as well take the risk and likely be rewarded in the end.

They should trade the pick to Utah for their picks. Muhammad would be available in that range, and they could grab shroeder if it plays out like the mock. Utah wants a point gaurd and could probably get Burke at 6.

We cant reach at 6 for Shabazz and he is not the ideal Small Forward measuring 6’6.25″ with 9% body fat lol. Best thing for us to do is pick the best player available at 6 which will probably be Trey Burke. Yes our biggest need is at Small Forward but after Porter the next Small Forward probably wont be picked until the teens, unless people consider Bennett a SF. There is a big drop off at small forward.
The draft is so weak you just have to draft the best available without taking needs into consideration and deal with the depth chart later.
My number one choice for the Pelicans would be Oladipo for when Gordon gets hurt or traded(wishful thinking) or when he leaves after his contract is up. My second choice would be Burke, with a backcourt of Burke and Vasquez in some lineups.

With the new news that if Noel is available at #2 to the Magic, they will take him. This will possibly allow for both McLemore and Oladipo to fall past the Bobcats (as the wizards are interested in Porter and the Bobcats in Bennett). One will land in Phoenix and the other in NO. I think McLemore will fall to #6 and NO would be thrilled. The Pelicans’ big board currently looks as followed: Otto Porter, Nerlens Noel, Ben McLemore, Anthony Bennett, Alex Len, Victor Oladipo
