TallmanNYCParticipantDoes anyone remember what the Nets did with their first round pick this year? Was it the Gereald Wallace trade?

benny15Participantyeah, top 3 protected. im wondering though if they do somehow keep it, would they be dealing it in a package for Dwight despite the guys injury, or keep it to bolster themselves and hope to resign Deron.

NJHooper95ParticipantIt is top 3 protected which means if they dont get a top three pick, they have traded away top 10 pick for a player that probably wont resign (Gerlad Wallace). They already lost favors, a pick, and Devin Harris, which appears to be for nothing after Deron Williams walks away. I dont understand why the nets keep trading away their future for guys who MIGHT stay. Very bad move by the nets again, and this is a deep draft, the nets really could use a player from this years class.

TallmanNYCParticipantthanks
I’m sure they would trade for D Howard if he were signed to a long term contract. Magic would probably consider that trade as well especially if it was the number one pick. Deron will definitely resign if Howard is on the team as well. So they just need the ping pong balls to fall the right way. Come on Stern, time to work your magic. Get Brooklyn started off with a bang.

omphalosParticipantNew owner Mikhail Prokhorov (sp?) wanted a championship within 5 years, and clearly wasn’t content to build it through the draft. It’s a huge roll of the dice though, they are either going to win it in 5 years, or be set back 10, like the Knicks were.

TallmanNYCParticipantWell if they land in the top three and they trade their pick for d Howard, then deron definitely resigns and Wallace might as well. That would be a contender. So there is still a possibility that this all works out. Besides even if deron leaves, the nets got two years out of him and he is much better than Harris. Favors still isn’t doing that much for Utah as well.

CavsFan07ParticipantFavors has shown great improvement in Utah, actually. Not a superstar, but has been a solid anchor of their defense when he’s in the game.

SwatLakeCityParticipantMark my words, TallmanNYC, Favors will start next year and he will be dominant. His stats don’t say much but if you watch the Jazz this morning in the playoffs, I guarantee you will notice how good Favors actually is, and that he has shown great improvement. Utah definitely got the better the dwill deal, hands down. (and I knew it the day the trade happened)

HitsterParticipantIf NJ landed Anthony Davis, I wonder if they would be in contact with Orlando or whether D-Will would like the thought of playing with Davis.
As regards Crash Wallace, I’ve seen a few correspondents thinking he may well decide to opt in as he is leaving a lot of money on the table and would need a good deal to compensate for this.

omphalosParticipantIf the Nets somehow got Davis, they’d find it a lot easier to convince Wallace, Williams to stay with the Nets. They could let Humphries go, hope that Brook Lopez is healthy and have a team which could contend in Davis’ second season if they buy in and stay healthy.
