rileymcshea3ParticipantEveryone is talkin about why the nets will be with deron williams well lets say that deron sighns with the mavs then what are the nets??There best player joe Johnson will have a rashard Lewis type contract and Gerald Wallace’s won’t be so pretty either.the nets will have the huge hole at pg . If they do resighn brook Lopez that doesn’t mean he will play thanks to injuries .So basically there most promising player (marshon brooks ) will be sitting on the bench while joe Johnson plays with his terrible contract

HotSnotParticipantThere’s still Dragic out there.
Howard’s achillies heal is his FT shooting… something Lopez does very well. In close games “Hack a Howard” has been used.
Lopez has also never played with a team full of Vets. Evans should toughen Lopez up pretty quick in practice. A starting lineup of Dwill (or Dragic), JJ, Crash, Teletovic and Lopez is very respectable. If Jkidd takes the min, Evans, Marshon and Green is a pretty decent bench.
Who knows, maybe this Nets version ends up being better then the sum of its part and really knows how to play together and move the ball.

drk3351Participantim pretty sure if dwill doesnt sign with the nets the joe johnson deal is off. And if that happens they can try to get dwight and they would have caap space for a decent pg.

TMoney617ParticipantIf Deron does leave (which I highly doubt) they’ll definitely make a big play for Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, Felton, or Dragic to fill the void. And even with Joe Johnson, Brooks can still get some minutes backing him up and playing alongside him. Not as many as he would like but he could be a good six man. I’m still not a big fan of this Joe Johnson trade though, I believe Brooks can be the SG of the future and this really hinders the Nets chances of getting Howard. It’s starting to look like the the only way they could get him is during free agency next year but even that is in doubt with all the money they’re spending on Johnson and Wallace.

TallmanNYCParticipantWhile Joe Johnson’s contract is terrible and will get worse, you do realize that he is currently much better than Marshon, right? There are still plenty of minutes available for Marshon either backing up JJ or playing the 2G when JJ goes to the 3. You can still easily find 30 minutes a game for Marshon if you want with the way the team is shaping up. You probably don’t want to play Marshon that much at this point in his career anyway. But you could do it if he improves.
JJ’s contract is terrible, but he isn’t. He is good. Marshon is a rookie and while promising, he is not nearly as good as JJ who has been an All Star for the last SIX consecutive years.
Not getting Deron, is, of course, disaster. But that seems to be a lock right now. Kidd also might sign up. Lots of players want to live in NYC and since they can’t all be Knicks, they may come to the Nets.

Cavaliers420ParticipantDeron resigned with the Nets. Entire thread is irrelevant.
