one report has JJohnson going to Nets if they can’t work out a trade for D12. The Nets have to improve @ make the playoffs this year.

GWallace opted out. I hope they don’t resign him to a deal for 3-4 years. He’s close to 30 and may be downhill as far as production from this point on (Think Richard Jefferson).

So it will be interesting to see what move Nets will make to build a contender around DWill.

    Thoughts please.

If the Nets trade for Joe Johnson that would mean this year you would have 48 million tied to Deron, Joe Johnson, and Gerald Wallace, that cap figure would escalate every additional year as Joe’s contract increases annually 2 mil from 19 this year to 21 mil next year, 23 the next year, etc, and Deron’s contract would likely have a similar structure. Now there is no doubt that Deron/JJ/Crash would be an elite PG/SG/SF combination but that gives them little to now flexibility to build a respectable front court in the future barring a steal in the draft. But hey if you can find serviceable vets I suppose a team with that big 3 would at least be a team in playoff contention yearly.

The only way the Nets could make a trade for JJ worthwile is if they somehow pulled something like this:

      Nets Receive:

      Joe Johnson(19.7 mil)

      Josh Smith(13.2 mil)

      Hawks Receive:

      Brook Lopez(S&T 12 mil)

      Kris Humphries(S&T 8 mil)

      Anthony Morrow(4 mil)

      Jordan Farmar(4.2 mil)

      Johan Petro(3.5 mil)

That would give the Nets an elite big 4 with Deron, JJ, Wallace, and Smith but good luck trying to convince the Hawks to commit that kind of money to that many mediocre players. Basically they would be the Nets minus Deron Williams and plus Horford, Teague, and John Jenkins.

They’ll take Joe Johnson’s horrible contract and trade away as much of their future as possible (Brooks, Picks, Lopez).  This team seems incapable of making good deals.

I would advise the Nets not to go near Joe Johnson. He’s an all star level player getting paid superstar money, which is never a good idea.

Just reported by Marc stein that the Nets may already have a verbal agreement with Gerald Wallace on a 3 or 4 year deal that will pay him $8 million a year…

Hmm, I just logged in. Apparently D12 is demanding a trade to the Nets! Forget this other speculation. Let’s get that trade done, sign up DWill and start getting ready for playoff basketball in Brooklyn.
