While there has been a lot of speculation as to whether the Nets will still be involved in an attempt to get Howard, it seems that there is a bit of substance to the talk. The basic structure of the trade involves the nets giving up Brooks, Lopez and Humphries as well as picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018. This would leave the Nets with little to no cap room and also caused them to give up marshon brooks, who had a great rookie season. If I’m the magic id consider this. If they look to rebuild then an extra pick every two years can’t hurt at all.

Heard they want to surround those (wallace williams howard johnson) with Teletovic, Kirilenko and Krstic…

It could be a good team but needing time to develop a collective game.

This trade me to the team the League wants me playing in is stupid. It looks planned. The players are making themselves unlikable.

It’d definitely be a year in the making before they started really clicking as a team. I’m hoping they can get good chemistry and it not end up like New York has. Wallace’s age might cause a bit of regression this year, but I really like Gerald Green’s production as a replacement . Obvious weakness is PF position. If they played Wallace there and Green at SF then they’ll have a solid starting 5

You’d have to assume though as the Magic that every single one of those first rounders will be late first rounders, also it said possibly taking Hedo off the Magic’s hands but for that that would require the Magic having to sign Lopez to a near max deal and Humphries to a deal in the 11-12 mil range which would be absurd for the Magic to do as a team in rebuilding, nothing is worst than overpaying for average players. I just don’t see this going down, the Magic owe nothing to Howard to trade him to where he wants to go and the package is not that enticing to me. Why pay Humphries 8-12 mil a year when you have Ryan Anderson, Big Baby, and Andrew Nicholson to develop.

what if its a 10 million expiring deal? tough part would be for Kris Humphries to agree to it, but he did so last year signing with the nets for 1 year and 8 million. as for the brook lopez deal, they can make it a front loaded one where lopez’s salary will be declining every year for the next 5 years. another option is to give him a fixed amount of 10 mill a season which isnt far fetched for young promising bigs, this is the kind of deal Nene signed when he became a free agent after his rookie deal. and the number that the nets have to send out is 20 mill since they have to match within 150%. with Dwight and Hedu’s deal at 30 M, 20 is what is needed to make things work. but the nets do need their players’ coopertation(humphries and lopez) to agree to such deals.

Orlando have Davis, Orton, Anderson who we assume they look to resign and the newly drafted Nicholson as a backcourt rotation to compliment D12. If we assume that D12 goes then would they want both Humphries and Lopez I wonder also both Humphries and Lopez could look for deals elsewhere, big men are getting good deals and if he is sound then we could see Lopez getting an offer of well over $10 million a season. If the D12 deals hinges on Lopez and he signs an offer sheet with another team lets say one out of Portland and Indiana as Roy Hibbert can only be on one team what do the Nets then do. Lopez could almost say to the Nets, I’ll only sign with you and be traded if you offer me the 5 year deal even although his only other option is to sign a one year qualifying deal which the Nets could easily trade on.

Humphries I would assume is likely to be offered another lucrative 1 or 2 year deal for trade purposes but he might get a longer offer from another team or could look at options where he can see more playing times which as an FA he can explore. He had a good deal last year, probably got a good settlement from his divorce so money may not be a motive for him.

If the Nets could get a key forsome of Williams, Johnson, Wallace and Howard then they are set, the rumours are they could add AK47, maybe get Kristic back and with Jason Kidd wanting to back up D-Will apparently could even Vince Carter come back perhaps. Also with Williams and Howard on the roster, quality vets chasing a ring would probably be happy to come for vet’s minimum. The Nets could perhaps buy a pick or two if needed so the masterplan might just actually work.

This sounds like Howard’s team is leaking this trade idea trying to get the Magic to bite. No way Magic take on junk to trade Howard. And for everyone who says it could happen why?

    1. Howard has no power in going to the Nets… None. Capped out.

    2. Rockets willing to trade him for what some think is 5 first round players and a all star PG.

    3. Lakers might give up Bynum for him.

    4. Hawks could offer Horfrod and their PG plus 3 picks as well.

Would those other teams really be willing to trade for him now that he has made it abundantly clear that the Nets are the only team that he wants to play for long term?  Maybe the Rockets would, but I doubt LA does.  If I was running one of those other teams, why would I give up anything of value when I know for a fact Dwight will walk after the season?  D12 will end up in Brooklyn, and my guess is sooner rather than later.

If the Nets wouldn’t have traded the 6th pick for Gerald Wallace last season and they included Lilard in this trade, it would have been a no brainer for the Magic.  Lilard, Brooks, Humphries, Lopez, and 3 first round picks gets it done.
