This is the ENTIRE game between #5 The Tilton School and #1 Brewster Academy.  It was a great game that took place last week and went into overtime.  The leading scorer was Wayne Selden Jr. (34pts).  I provide the rosters for the 2 squads so you can follow who is who.  Enjoy!!!

By doesn’t play well I mean he doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing on defense and on offense for most of the game displays no handle or any offensive arsenal at all except a weak jump hook (with only his left hand)…

LMAO at chants of "OVERRATED" for Noel. For a guy who is supposedly hyped so much as a defensive presence Brewster seemed to have little problem attacking the rim.

It’s also kind of funny, Noel and McGary are hyped so much because they are big men but the truth was that neither of them were even the best players on their own team. The swingmen Warren and Selden were far more dominant in the game. I realize that it is just one game, but still…

    Thanks for the vid paradigmn

But, I will just predict the issues of both big men. Firstly, Nerlens Noel is a tooth pick. He can run and jump, but seeing that Brewster is a team full of beastly players who outweigh him by at least 20 pounds, I could see how he might struggle. The guy can definitely block shots and has nice energy, but I think he is still raw offensively and can still be easily pushed around. Khem Birch, even Anthony Davis, are two athletes who are both excellent shot blockers and fantastic athletes, but if you are asking them to defend stronger opponents, they will more than likely struggle.

McGary took this summer by storm and seems like a really skilled, energetic big. Plus, he has some bulk to him and seems to be a decent athlete. Still, I feel like while he is solid for a run and gun type structure, I have heard that he struggles in the half court offense. He definitely needs to develop his post moves if he wants to use his gifts to his advantage at the next level. I also know that their roster is stacked, so I have little doubt that they probably utilize some other talented athletes rather than just dumping the ball to Mitch every play.

The reason both of them are so highly ranked is because of where they project in the future as opposed to the present. At this level, Mitch and Nerlens both have an effect on the game most nights, but they are both prospects who still need development in certain areas. They have fantastic teammates (Georges Niang, Wayne Selden, Goodluck Okonoboh for Noel and TJ Warren, Semaj Christon, Aaron Thomas, Jalen Reynolds and Jakarr Sampson for McGary), who are all high level D1 prospects in their own right.

When you have players of that caliber, who are probably further ahead of the curve, they may shine more now, but will they do this at the next level or the level after that? Some of them may, but McGary and Noel have things to offer that given time, could possibly make them better players down the line. In different circumstances, I am sure each would be averaging off the charts numbers, but I think going to prep school gives you the ability to play tougher competition, that may help you when you finally go to a team where you are seen as a main option, as opposed to playing with players who will probably take that role at whatever school they attend.

Haven’t watched either…but at St John’s we need to get Jakaar back on board. It’s unfortunate Lav has to basically re-recruit him after he already signed a LOI last year. But he’s a guy we got to have. Fits perfectly in our defensive schemes, and is an athlete that can run the floor, playing that combo forward position. His offense is improving, but we need his level of talent and athleticism going forward as we try to get the program back on track.

McGary is the most hyped up big man in this site since B.J. Mullens. Some people just can’t admit it when they are wrong… Remember when they had B.J. Mullens going #1 or #2 overall on this site? LMFAO.

Still, I for one think he is a pretty decent prospect. I do not necessarily know if he is a superstar, but if you are 6’11 with his ability, people more than likely will think you have NBA prospects down the line. Mullens was skinny, whereas Mitch definitely has some bulk to him, without being fat. I do not know what makes you feel people are wrong to consider him a NBA prospect. I for one have no idea where he will go in the draft and do not project him as a sure fire one and done player.

One thing I do know is, you telling us that he sucks, does nothing to show you are any more knowledgable than those you are trying to put down. If you actually listed players you believed were being overlooked or were better, maybe than you would be getting somewhere. Not doing so just makes you seem scared to actually go out on a limb about anything, other than predicting someone elses failure. Until you start actually showing any knowledge of your own, your opinion carries very little weight and has very little basis.
