He's down to his top three now: Syracuse, Georgetown, and Kentucky, according to the Sporting News.
I might be a bit biased here because I like Georgetown, but I feel like he should go there considering the recent success of bigmen Roy Hibbert and George Monroe, and even turning Henry Sims into a draft pick. Nerlens would get immediate playing time and would have a chance to really expand his game in GU's motion offense. Despite all that, I have a gut feeling he'll go to Kentucky
Where do you think would be best for Nerlens to go?
Where do you think he will ultimately go?
Cuse is attractive for big-men because they get to be the anchor in the 2-3 zone...
then again, i am biased and hope thats where he goes haha...
but hell prob end up in Kentucky
Typo in the original post: I meant Greg Monroe. Don't think that I'm an idiot for that. And DC the reason that I don't think Nerlens should/will go to Syracuse is that there will probably be a logjam in the frontcourt if Melo returns. Christmas has looked nice as well during the tournament so he'll have to battle with both of them for minutes, whereas at KU and GU he'd start right away.
He should go to the big man factory, Duke University.
He'll go to Kentucky
Melo will not be back next year...hes flunking out of school and hes failed pot tests...that opens up a spot for Noel...
with Christmas, Coleman and Noel...that would be a NICE back line
I hope and I think he will go to Kentucky. He is just waiting for Davis to declare.
I think he should go to UK. It seems to me Calipari can bring out the best in prospects.
Hopefully UK with our recent success Patterson, cousins, harellson. Word has been it will come down to th Cuse and UK.
Shouldn't have made that post, 4 negs wasn't worth it. I think he'll go to Georgetown
As soon as Nerlens Noel reclassified to the Class of 2012 it was obvious to me that he was going to Kentucky. Whenever something shady happens in recruiting(like a player reclassifying in the middle of the school year), Kentucky/John Calipari/World Wide Wes are most likely heavily involved!!! But seriously, J.Calipari can now use the play of Anthony Davis to sell the blue-chip centers like N.Noel that he can develop them into top 5 NBA picks also, in addition to point guards
Andre Drummond reclassified even later than Noel did and he commited to UConn. Reclassifying happens all the time.
Why? Because it's a means to an end. He's only in college to get laid, and then go pro. And who's the best coach for one-and-done's? John Calipari.
ON A SIDE NOTE: Does anyone know how to post images? All I get are links.
Just copy the image and paste it.
As I've said before, it's going to be Syracuse or Kentucky. Nerlens plays a lot of 2-3, and with Fab likely gone, Nerlens Noel will be guaranteed a lot of playing time at Syracuse. Kentucky is also attractive with recent successes of many players such as Cousins and Davis, not to even mention Calipari's guards.
I think a big factor will be if he's ok with playing in Kentucky. Syracuse is closer, so his family and friends would be closer to where he lives now. Not to mention he played HS travel ball with Michael Carter-Williams and is friends with Dajuan Coleman I believe. If he is ok playing out all the way in Kentucky, then it could be appealing. Probably slightly more PT in Kentucky, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm praying he comes to Cuse. Keita is fast for a big, but he's also skinny. He needs to redshirt to get stronger or transfer. Christmas has been playing great when he's given the minutes. Christmas/Noel/Coleman would be great next year.
Sounds enticing. Fab Melo's gone, so that should open up minutes for him, provided he can beat out Baye Keita for the backup C spot. The one thing that worries me is his strengh. He's 215. That's really skinny. It worries me that he won't be able to put on weight and become more of a John Henson than an Anthony Davis.
A little analysis of Noel, if you want it. By ESPN.
An absolutely incredible shot blocker with uncanny defensive instincts. Noel has good size, length, and quick bounce to go along with precise timing and incredible mobility and agility. He is like a one-man zone with his ability to protect the basket inside the paint but is also a threat to fly out to the perimeter and erase mistakes when the situations warrants. Offensively, he has some rapidly emerging tools. He gets a ton of dunks inside the paint, both from guard's penetration and the offensive glass, because he can catch and bounce into the dunk so quickly. He can make a jump hook over either shoulder, is a terrific passer from the low post, and has a quick spin move when facing up.
Still lean, Noel needs to continue to fill out his frame in a way in which will keep his mobility intact but allow him to play through contact with more consistently. His offensive game also needs to continue to progress as he can make jump hooks with both feet planted but can rush the shot at times as well. He needs to shoot the ball better from the elbow and short corner and also become a more consistent three-point shooter.
He may already be in the best shot-blocker in the country with absolutely uncanny physical gifts and defensive instincts. With a rapidly expanding offensive game, and solid work ethic and good court demeanor, the sky is absolutely the limit.
hes going to UK
These guys have friends for many teams and many guys they have played with. It's rare a decision is based on who the player is friends with. With that said I agree it will be UK or Cuse for his services. Cuse would be sick with him and Coleman though. Sick with him and Alex P or A. Bennett as well
kentucky needs to reload after this year just like every year, he'll end up there ... cuse has been landing some top big men the last few years though
another thing that nobody is pointing out, is the fact that hes very good friends with Michael Carter Williams (who will get a lot of pt next year with scoop leaving), and hes from the north east, so Cuse will be pretty close to home...
but then again Calipari can always offer more money...
No one points that out because that is never a reason some one goes to a school
Big Blue Nation all the way! Shabazz Muhammad too
