    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/12459854/proposal-nba-ncaa-nabc-move-draft-withdrawal-date

ncaa and nba working to extend withdrawal period for underclassman.  good idea or bad idea?  could see a lot of new violations for those that need funding for the draft process.

It’s a great idea for the draft but it hurts collegiate coaches with their recruitment process. It’s a 50/50 split for the American prospects now. I mentioned some time last year, that the International prospects have more leverage with the lottery forecast to weigh out their options without second-guessing the decision.

That’s a good point. This move hurts college coaches when they are recruiting. I’m sure they’ll figure it out, but its not a benefit for them. I love the move from the drafts standpoint. I hate seeing players who clearly should’ve stayed in school come out early because they didn’t have enough information to make the best decision for them. This should save a lot of guys from coming out early and going undrafted.

It seems like they should change the rule so that you can either enter the draft out of high school or you have to stay in college for two years.  The expansion of the D-League to every team would certainly help in the matter.  Superagent Arn Tellem had a pretty good article on Grantland about making the draft more like MLB’s system, which makes sense on a lot of levels.  What OKC did with Josh Huestis should never happen again.

The answer is simple and obvious. Just let kids come back to school if they don’t get drafted. Why should they lose their”amateur status” if they’ve never played a pro game? This way everyone wins. The end

That’s because the NCAA wants to punish the kids that leave early.  They don’t care anything about how well the kids do in the pros, all they want to do is make as much money off of them as possible, and they make less when they leave early.
