theprophetParticipant(just copied and pasted from merry xmas thread)
enjoying this buckenll/butler game right now. butler is about to wrap it up. they made a come back. noteworthy, mike muscala pretty much got man handled on the boards by andrew smith. i don’t believe this andrew smith guy is even on mock draft’s radars. is this bad tournament showing from muscala going to hurt his draft stock?

seniokasParticipantObviously it’s only one game but when you have a player from weaker league like Patriot it’s really important for the player to show that he can play equally well against teams with some good talent. When he fails to do it, it raises some questions whether his stats against weak competition are legit. That’s only one game but as this was the last one for him, it was definitely not a the best way to end your college career.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI also will be watching that Oklahoma State game. I actually have them reaching the NCAA championship game and losing to Indiana. I think if Gonzaga makes the final four Oklahoma State will beat them. They came close to beating the Zags earlier and I think it would be a revenge game for them. I love all the intangibles Smart brings to the game. And they are a physical and athletic team that I feel are sometimes overlooked. Everybody loves Louisville but for some reason they choke come tournament time. I think Oklahoma State would beat them if they eventually play each other.

theprophetParticipantoh this oklahohma state game against oregon should be a dawg fight.

seniokasParticipantThought it would be great to create a topic where we could discuss games of the each day of the tournament.
Personally, today I will be watching Oklahoma St. – Oregon game, which I think could be the most interesting game today and maybe even in the whole round of 64. While having Oklahoma St. going to the Sweet Sixteen in my bracket, I wouldn’t be surprised if Oregon wins this game and reaches Sweet Sixteen instead. Still, I expect nothing but a huge showing from Marcus Smart and the tough win for Oklahoma St.
Another game that I hopefully will watch ( if I do not fell asleep, it little bit sucks living in other time zone, when time difference is huge and you have to get up at 4 o’clock at night to watch basketball though it worth it) is UNLV – Califonrnia. Another very interesting game with another super freshman Anthony Bennett. While I’m big fan of Anthony Bennett, I do have California pulling an upset victory over UNLV. That’s just what I feel, UNLV is obviously a very good team but I believe they are a bit overated while California is slightly underated and being underdog will only help Cal to win it matchup.
But then again this is March Madness, everything could happen, teams can get a bit Lehigh and lose some games you wouldn’t believe they could.
Congratulations everyone, the Madness has begun! Have nice brackets and don’t be mad when your team loses.

chris_wuzhereParticipantBiggest games of the year for Marcus Smart and Anthony Bennett. Wins today could really solidify their draft positions. Xfactor for Ok State is Nash showing up. For UNLV it’s not letting Crabbe get too hot.

HaleParticipantRefs in the Memphis game have been horrible.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI know 8 and 9 seed games are too close to call but I had Pitt against Wichita State winning and apparently Wichita State is up in the second half. There is still time for Pitt to come back and take the lead but is Wichita State that good or is Pitt playing that bad? I saw the leading scorer for Pitt was Steven Adams and he only has 6 points. Thats not a good sign. Is anybody watching the game? I’m only following the scores on my espn ticker on my phone
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 10:02am #756497
Dale WorthingtonParticipantCombination of both. Pitt is pissing me off. I shouldn’t have picked a team to go to the Elite Eight who could potentially go down in the 1st round…and it looks like they will.

RafterParticipantMuscala looked like he was in a rush today, he kept thinking two steps ahead resulting in ignoring the details or mental lapses. Those kind of nerves were undoubtedly a product of Butler’s defensive plan however Bucknell wouldn’t go away which makes you think that it may have been a different story if Muscala had hit more of his shots. In terms of Muscala as a prospect, he needs to get stronger as he was bullied in the paint way too often and was clearly shaken by the physical play. I wouldn’t say this game harmed his stock in a bad way but it doesn’t make me believe that he’s a first rounder.
I’m looking forward to seeing Wolters and Burke matching-up.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 10:03am #756499
Dale WorthingtonParticipantMuscala looked terribly unathletic.

HaleParticipantIf Wichita wins my bracket is in trouble.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 9:46am #756488
Forte IVParticipantYou know what, this is what I get for listening to others. I originally had Wichita St beating Pitt( as I post this they are up 10 with 10 mins left). But then I changed it to Pitt after listening to different people. If they end up winning I will be livid. Just shows don’t listen to others.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 9:41am #756489
R-Dot-13ParticipantOh yeah, I was all over Wichita. Stuck with them.
Paying off.0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 9:41am #756492
CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantLol…man the same thing happened with me. I was going to go with Wichita St cuz Pitt hasn’t impressed me at all this year. But alot of people and some analysts were picking Pitt so I went with them. Should have went with my gut

0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 10:09am #756500
Forte IVParticipantHonestly f*ck the 3 guys who convinced me Pitt would beat Wichita St. I had Wichita St. beating them up until last night at 11:30 when I finished up my bracket. Terrible mistake.

Mad MaxParticipantNo great games yet, but last yr the 1st day was a bit of a snoozer before theings got good, hopefully the games pick up as the day goes on. I think part of the reason why is most teams are so nervous/anxious about playing the 1st game of the tourney, once the 2nd half starts teams start to play better. Also thus far, the tourney has confirmed just how offensivly challanged so many team are. I’ll def have my eye out for OKST v Oregon, S. Dakota St v Michigan and Belmont vs Arizona later
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:09am #756517
theprophetParticipantmemphis survived a tough matchup. i guess cusa is not a comlete wash this year. memphis can play. i’m back on oregon/oklahoma state now. i expect a great game here.

beard20ParticipantAnyone believe Dellaveova will get selected in tHe draft this year. Obviously not 1st round but there is a lot worse guys that seem to get drafted then he is.

Forte IVParticipantThat Memphis St. Mary’s game doe
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:12am #756523
Lafferty DanielParticipantDiggin that defensive play by Smart to keep the ball inbounds, showing off the athleticism. Looking forward to seeing what he can do on offense now.

theprophetParticipantthat play was pretty amazing.

HaleParticipant@theprophet They survived a lot of bs in that game. I’m proud they showed resilience.
@beard20 I’d draft him for sure. His takes some stupid shots but he’s an incredible passer.

R-Dot-13ParticipantDavidson!!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:27am #756530
seniokasParticipantOklahoma St. bigs are playing like trash. Missing shots, turning it over and traveling. So many turnovers for OKC St.. it’s not like Oregon would be playing very well they are playing OK, but OKC St are rushing things and turning it over
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:30am #756534
theprophetParticipantsouthern seems to be going toe to toe with the zags. not watching that game, but noticed the score. can it happen? can southern keep it up the entire game?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:34am #756531
kingofbumsParticipantpitt played the ugliest offense ive ever seen
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:35am #756537
Lafferty DanielParticipantSmart should post up the rest of this game.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:37am #756536
HaleParticipantDid anyone else notice aamir has Ole Miss winning the whole thing? I’d be shocked if they beat Wisconsin.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:39am #756535
Forte IVParticipantSouthern was the only 16 seed I felt could possibly upset a #1. I don’t see it happening, but from watching some tape I had a feeling they would compete.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:49am #756538
joecheck88ParticipantArselan Kazemi is a NBA player. He is an undersized 4 but he could fill a role on a team somewhere. I’ve thought that even when I saw him play at Rice. He is active and stronger and more athletic than he looks.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:51am #756544
HaleParticipantI’ve seen him miss 3 essentially uncontested layups and I’ve only watched like half the game.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:02pm #756548
theprophetParticipantincluding the dunk rejection off the rim from point blank.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:16pm #756575
joecheck88ParticipantIt happens. I’ve seen him play for more then a half and he is legit. Over 9 rebounds a game for his career and he has energy. I never claimed he would be a starter but if he consistently hit a mid range jumper, he will find a place in the league. Eduardo Najera made a career for himself and this guy can too.

R-Dot-13ParticipantDavidson could have held the ball and got fouled. They throw it away and lose. Ouch.

theprophetParticipantdaaaamn, davidson/marquette finish!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:56am #756540
Forte IVParticipantF*ck me and my big mouth. I started watching the Davidson/Marqutte game and Marqutte scores 11 in a minute. This always happens to me. I’m terrible luck.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 11:57am #756543
kingofbumsParticipantOHHHHH MY GODDDDDDDDD WAS ANYONE WATCHING THE MARQUETTE GAMEE HOLLYYYYYYYY!!!!! EPICCC
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:29pm #756554
theprophetParticipantoregon is now running oklahoma state out of the gym. i’m sure another run is in line with oklahoma state, but it goes to show that oregon is playing with a chip on their shoulder. pac twelve got very disrespected with the seeds in the tourney, and oregon is one of team that is proving the tournament committee wrong so far.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:37pm #756558
theprophetParticipantanybody look at the southern/zaga score? within two

llperezOregon 26-8, 4-1 vs rpi top 25, PAC 12 champs. I would be pissed if I was a 5 seed and had to play that caliber of 12 seed.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:43pm #756556
BigChamp12ParticipantMuscala (not sure if I spelled it right) disappointed me today… If he played good I think they wouldve easily won… That hurt my bracket sadly
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:43pm #756557
Malik-UniversalParticipanttune into the southern Gonzaga game
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:40pm #756561

alingeParticipantKelly Olynyk is having a nice game, but boy has he been whining at the official’s all game. Oh and thanks to the committee for motivating my Ducks so much.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 12:52pm #756564
theprophetParticipantdarn! i really wanted to see history with the sixteen seed. at the same time though, i would rather it happen to a number one in a major conference someday instead of a mid major number one seed. anyways, someday it’s bound to happpen.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:02pm #756566
delfamParticipant5 minutes left and it looks like Marcus Smart has given up, his body language is awlful.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantMy brackets f*cked already after this Oklahoma State loss
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:18pm #756576
joecheck88ParticipantMine too. I had them winning a couple games. I bought into Marcus Smart being able to carry them through a few by himself.

theprophetParticipantoregon holds on. maybe a pac twelve trend.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:09pm #756568
Dale WorthingtonParticipantNOOOOOOOOO!
I had Southern beating Gonzaga…peep MikeyV’s pool!
I honestly saw no disparity in talent level. Gonzaga is probably the worst 1 seed of all-time.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:14pm #756569
llperezYou also said Pitt was one of the 15 best teams in America and they looked garbage all game.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 2:54pm #756600
Dale WorthingtonParticipantThey were a top 15 team heading into today. Peep their entire body of work. But alas, they didn’t show up. Literally couldn’t make a shot.
0
- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:22pm #756577
joecheck88ParticipantNo disparity in talent level? I’m pretty sure Southern doesn’t have guys that will play for their country on their team. I’m sure they have no future draft picks on their team. C’mon. Gonzaga has way more talent. Whether or not Gonzaga is the worst 1 seed of all time, the fact remains that 16’s don’t beat 1’s. Southern played the game of their lives and in the end, talent took over. Southern had trouble creating their own shot in the end whereas Pangos created separation for an open 3.

- Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:25pm #756578
Leonard WashingtonParticipantThis Mich/SD ST game is interesting to me with the Burke vs Wolters matchup. I’ve watched Wolters a couple of times this year and I think he could be a legit backup in the league for years to come, the outcome of this game will definitely have an effect on both players’ draft stock.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 1:41pm #756582
Forte IVParticipantI had Oklahoma St going to the elite 8. I honestly thought with Smart’s offensive skill set, paired with his defense that he could carry them there. Oh well. My bracket’s trashed.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 2:17pm #756592
theprophetParticipantit’s hard to watch just one game at a time. i got three going here, glad one is finishing half time. michigan, arizona, and unlv games are all close.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 3:56pm #756617
theprophetParticipantit’s official, pac twelve is legit. oregon first, then zona takes care of business. now cal is going down to the wire against a tough unlv team. crabbe came to play. although anthony bennett isn’t having a bad game, he still has not wowed me yet. he began the season with a bang and has left me questioning how high his draft stock is ever since. he’s good, but is he top five good? he has at least been considered top five for a while but still not sure and not sure isn’t a good sign when talking top five.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 4:11pm #756626
delfamParticipantanyone else think it’s kinda weird that Cal got homecourt advantage as a 12 seed?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 4:15pm #756627
HaleParticipantF the Pac 12. Cost me two games today!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 4:16pm #756624
llperezDamn right PAC 12 legit
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 5:16pm #756636
beard20ParticipantMissouri’s defense right know is embarrassing
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/21/2013 - 6:32pm #756659
Dale WorthingtonParticipantWhat do you do the day after you receive a 10 year $20 million contract extension?
Get eliminated by 14-seeded Harvard.
Pathetic, Steve Alford. Just pathetic. Way to wait until 10 minutes left in the 2nd half to go man-to-man against a team who relies on perimeter shooting.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 1:17am #756758
McDunkinMichealVDaDon
was going off in the clubs last night after the Ducks win….Imagine this …except with a Oregon LaMicheal James jersey on
0 - Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 5:00am #756774
dmo21ParticipantThrough the ups and downs of opening day, my bracket took a couple hits. I had 5 sweet sixteen teams knocked out (Oklahoma State, Pitt, New Mexico, Bucknell, and UNLV). But the good thing is that is the deepest eliminated team I have so I still have all my elite eight teams in the tourny. The one game that is really gonna help me out is if Wichita beats Gonzaga, as I had Pitt beating Gonzaga. So if Gonzaga loses it will hurt most peoples brackets but not mine, and after how shaky the Zags looked against Southern, I could see this happening.
How’s everyone else after Day 1?
