The toughest thing about creating a NBA top 50? Omissions. Who’s the players who missed the NBA top 50 cut? Here are my first 5 off. Let’s not look at the contracts here, let’s look for overall play. We will bring up contracts some times to bring the point at home.

    55. Corey Maggette- I know, you’re sitting here thinking: How? Well, did you know Maggette was a top 20 scorer in the NBA last season? He can play multiple position as a wing. Maggette also averages 5 rebounds and could surprise people with some double-double on some nights. Why did he miss the top 50? He’s only a pure scorer. Maggette is a guy who doesn’t believe in passing the basketball either.

    54. Robin Lopez- He’s more important then we think. When basketball analyst are not picking the Suns because they’re missing you? It’s debatable you made it. Lopez’ numbers won’t excite you ( 8 points, 4 rebounds) but in his minutes (19 minutes per game next season) could make the case. Lopez should be getting upwards of 25 mpg next season and could see a increase of 11-8 next season.

    53. Joakim Noah- 25 years old, #1 personality. Tough, relentless rebounder and defender. People forget, Chicago was seen a favorite due to Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. Next to Carlos Boozer, could his number see a slight slip in his numbers?

    52. Jeff Green- It’s tough to assess how good Green really is. As a undersized power forward, Green averaged 15 and 6 and a steal. What if he were the small forward for say New Orleans? Phoenix? I believe we would have seen Green post around 18 points, 7 rebounds and maybe 2 steals. The numbers ( plus the fact he had a terrible playoff series vs Los Angeles) put him on the outside looking in.

    51. Chris Kaman- The toughest part of keeping Kaman off the list? He’s a solid double-double guy. 18 and 10 is close on his radar. He’s in the middle when it comes to double doubles ( 33 last season) and should decrease once Blake Griffin comes back to the lineup. My issue to keep Kaman off the list? He’s not healthy. Kaman only played 70 plus games only 2 times his whole career.

Nice job writing…I like your list except I am a huge Chris Kaman fan and believe at 28 years old he’s going to be one of the top centers in the NBA for the next 3 years and therefore belongs in the top 50

Thanks, I just started writing there and wanted to show some work.

I think Kaman is solid but he doesn’t play big games and he’s not that great of a defender.
