Now that the 2015 draft is over and free agency is drawing to a close positions/types of players do you think every teams roster is lacking or missing?

Can’t keep track of all teams so I’ll just go with my Wolves—the list is plenty long

    1. Still not sold on Rubio as a long term starter for playoff team.

    2. Still need shooting which can be found either by player development from Wiggins/Lavine/Muhammad or in 2016 draft with guys like Ingram/Hield/LeVert.

    3. Have to find out if Towns is a PF or C…I originally thought he’d profile as a PF but it looks more like their plan is to have him as a 5 in which case finding a viable starting PF becomes a priority.

    4. Biggest thing is to just gain experience. Wiggins needs to take another step this year and get to the level where he can carry a team for stretches of games and help generate some wins. Towns needs to take his lumps and develop offensively along with adjusting to the pace and learning how to not foul. LaVine needs to develop consistency and make winning plays. He has plenty of sizzle, need to see the proverbial steak.

That’s a pretty good list. I agree with everything. Hopefully for my Jazz, Hayward will be that star that gets them over the hump. I don’t know though

Solid List but I disagree with Utah. They have a star player who will stake them over the hump. His name is Dante Exum and he is only going to get better every year he is in the NBA.

I really like the way my Pacers look, but I think we lack a starting caliber PF. J.Hill is more of a C and PG is an All-NBA defensive perimeter player so I don’t get the move to PF if it happens.

I like Stuckey but I don’t get the deal, that money could go towards acquiring a PF like Faried or Markieff Morris as well as a proper back-up pg.

I’d prefer a team of C. Mahinmi/Turner/Hill PF. Faried or Morris/Allen SF. George/Budinger/Solo SG. Ellis/Miles PG. Hill/Cole/Young instead of having no real back-up pg or starting quality pf. J.Hill wouldn’t have been necessary either, but I like the signing at 1yr $5mil.

Speaking of which. I read some articles about Larry Bird trying to convince Paul George to play some 4 this season. I don’t think it is a crazy idea. Maybe he would struggle against some really strong PFs, but in the eastern conference he can get away with it. Most definitely, he will still be in charge of defending Lebron, Melo, KD, etc.

Offensively he would receive a lot of touches as usual. I’m assuming Monta will be the main ball handler now. I think at least they will give it a try.

    Jazz

    Strengths – Youth, length, defense

Weaknesses – Few players have hit prime, go-to scoring option

Keys to future success: Alec Burkes return from injury, Dante Exum improvement

Team Needs – Backup centre, Backup PG if Trey Burke doesnt improve.

Actually the Jazz have a Backup C now in Tibor Pleiss, I know that only 2 5’s isn’t great, but I think that it’s not a big priority, if they resign Jack Cooley then I’d be willing to bet that he will play some 5 too.

Cooley has been playing tough and hard but Favors can serve as the 3rd or maybe even the 2nd center, ( depending on how Plies plays) so I’m not sure Cooley will stick,  I love how this young Jazz team is looking , I have high hopes for how they will play this year but I also know we need to be patient , improvement will come from these young kids improvement, how fast that will happen is the big question.  I see it happening as the year progresses, hopefully they can avoid injury and if they can I see them making the playoffs.

I get the idea of playing George at the 4 in stretches when you want to go small and pick up the pace, but George, if healthy, is maybe the 3rd best SF in the league. No worse than the 5th best and a top 15-20 player. If it aint broke, why fix it? If they are asking him to take his best attribute–defense–and use it on PFs, I don’t see the big upside in that unless they plan on using him like Draymond Green and letting him switch screens in which case he’d end up guarding a lot of PGs.

Raptors need an upgrade at PF. They have  great depth and Casey isn’t the worst coach.

Considering Paul George is coming off of a broken leg, I think playing the 4 defensively will save his legs. He probably doesn’t need to be chasing wings around through screens all game at this point. And if you look around, majority of the great power forwards are in the West. The Pacers only see them twice per year.

Offensively, he’d benefit signficantly playing the four and so would the Pacers. They’d be faster, plus there aren’t very many 4 men that can defend him. That’s a mismatch for the Pacers most nights.

I see no problem with this, plus it’s not like he’ll be playing 30-35 minutes per game at the 4.

As far as the Pacers team needs, I agree with what’s been stated above. They could use a backup point even though Rodney Stuckey basically plays point guard coming off  of the bench. I also think Joe Young can step in immediately.

Their main need is a starting caliber power forward, which hopefully they’ll be able to acquire through trade or next summer via free-agency.

I like the direction of the team and think Bird has done a great job. What I like the most is that all of the contracts are reasonable in regards to amount and length.
