NBA Rights Held Rankings
Valanciunas will be the best of them
Mirotic will be really nice too. He has size, shoot, IQ, experience
Vazquez could be a good back-up C to Howard next year
I've never watched Motiejunas live, so I can't say anything about him. Ante Tomic is too soft for NBA and IDK how Freeland's and Llull's game would translate to NBA. They are very good European players. Nick Calathes was drafted by Wolves and he is very good PG.
Davis Bertans plays for my team, Partizan Belgrade. He is very talented, but he has a lot of work to do before he goes to NBA
Valanciunas is clearly the best long term rights held prospect and should be in Toronto next year. Motiejunas could be brought over now Houston have moved Jordan Hill on and I would assume Chicago might have a long term plan for Mirotic.
I'll also throw Victor Claver into the mix who Portland hold the rights to.
Thanks for your imput everyone. Does anyone want to take the plunge and make a list? That is what I am looking for. Like I said I'm not an expert. If someone wants to throw a list together I'd love to see it.
If I have to rank them, I would say:
- Valanciunas
- Freeland
- Mirotic
- Llull
- Bogdanovic
- Vasquez
- De Colo
- Calathes
- Eliyahu
- Tomic
Great list but how about the Greek PG who played at Florida?!? His name escapes me right now but dude hoops for real!!! I was soooo very disappointed when the Lakers passed on him, Budinger and Patrick Mills in 2009. Damn I can not remember dudes name but he hoops and if I remember right, Minnesota drafted him. I'm not sure if they've moved him since.
The Bulls will surely look to bring Mirotic over fairly soon as he is playing well in Europe, he'd give them extra frontcourt depth and allow Boozer and Noah to watch their minutes.
Has anyone heard about any of these guys coming to the NBA next season.
I know Jonas Valanciunas adn Dontas Motiejunas willl be in the NBA in 2012.
I've heard Freeland and Vazquez are 5050.
Lull will be over in 2013-2014 most likely.
Nikola 2014-2015
Anyone have any information on this topic?
- Jonas Valanciunas - 2012/2013 season
- Nikola Mirotic - 2014/2015 season
- Sergio Llull - 2013/2014 season (If he gets PT he will be over if not he will probably never come over)
- Dontas Motiejunas - 2012/2013 season
- Fran Vazquez - NEVER (using the Magic to get a better contract)
- Joel Freeland - 2012/2013 season
- Bojan Bogdanovic - 2013/2014 season
- Erzam Lorbek - No idea (I've read he might come over but I'll belive it when I see it)
- Milan Macvan - No idea

- Ante Tomic - No idea

Draftexpress use to have an NBA Rights held rankings on their website and they discontinued it. I was wondering if some of you international experts can provide a list? I'm not claiming to be an expert by any means but I have been doing a lot of research and this is what I have put together. Just a top 5 but I am looking for a top 20.
The NBA Rights Held are players that were drafted but remain overseas. Thanks for your help!
1. Nikola Mirotic
2. Fran Vazquez
3. Jonas Valanciunas
4. Dontas Motiejunas
5. Ante Tomic/Sergio Llull/Joel Freeland
