The regular season is winding down which means that the MVP race is heating up.

Harden came out firing after the All Star Break, but DeRozan snuck in there two weeks ago, winning the weekly MVP power poll.

So, Harden and DeRozan are eligible to win the MVP award.

On the edge: Giannis has two last place finishes but he picked it up.

Durant is on the chopping block.  He finished in fourth place last week due to injury and he might not come back soon.

He could be gone after next week.

    MVP Power Poll Results:

    1. Harden 45.75

    2. Giannis 32.68

    3. DeRozan 24.94

    4. Durant 13.32

Harden has two wins.  So he gets an extra bonus point and he now has 7 bonus points.

DeRozan in 3rd can still move back into the top spot.  He has 1 bonus point from 2 weeks ago.

KD has 1 bonus point but time is running out.

Giannis, unless he wins 3 straight weeks, is likely competing with DeRozan for 2nd place.

I haven’t run the numbers for this week, but it looks like Harden is winning.  Then DeRozan and Giannis are fighting for 2nd this week.  By the end of next week, Harden might have the MVP award all wrapped up.

DeRozan’s best shot now is to win 3 weeks, with Harden winning the other 3 weeks then forcing a tie for the MVP award.

Harden is My MVP. But If Lebron can maintain his current pace for the final12 games. Voters ‘might be’ swayed to vote for him.

It could end in a tie, if LeBron literally averages 32, 12, and 12 the rest of the way.

We haven’t had co-MVP’s in years — this could be a good year to do it.

Then Harden and LeBron can settle this thing in the Finals!

If I were Harden, I would WANT LeBron to get the MVP award.  Otherwise, if the Cavs and Rockets meet in the Finals, LeBron is gonna be MAD.

Yes i would give to Harden. LeBron and Russ are having incredible years statistically as well and are having decent success team wise.

I look at Demar Derozen in particular and dont think he should be that high in Nov voting other than what his team has done altogether. 23 pts 5ast 4 rebs dosent scream out to me "MVP". Giannis to a extent is the same way but more So Derozen. Maybe in a year or 2 but I need to see a little more numbers statistically.

Not sure what happened to my last comment — it disappeared or something.

    ANY WHO…

    KD is basically done.

So, I will add his ASG bonus point to his results from last week:

    MVP Power Poll Results:

    1. Harden 45.75

    2. Giannis 32.68

    3. DeRozan 24.94

    4. Durant 14.32

Now, he is basically in fifth place…

outside of the money round though…

Ok, now I will go with a wild card MVP pick to replace him in my top four.

    PROBABLY LeBron.

Then I will add Harden’s bonus points to this week.

And, starting Monday I will do a mega poll from that day to the end of the year — WINNER TAKE ALL!

So, the MVP race will be a toss-up between Harden, Giannis, DeRozan, and the Wildcard pick.

I PROBABLY should have done an MVP sprint after the All Star Game — winner take all for the last couple of months or so…

If players TIE then I will give it whoever finishes highest in the poll THIS week.

ALSO: I think I am gonna do a Defensive MVP sudden death final four, too.  Capela, Draymond, and one other guy are in… then the top wild card pick from the past two weeks for a sudden death Defensive MVP finish.  Or, uh, I will take the highest remaining ranked Defensive guy: minimum of half a block and half a steal a game.  Minimum .500 for his team.  Hey, I might even make it a minimum of 1 steal and 1 block a night.

Oh, one more thing, a ROOKIE MVP.  I will take the top four guys up until now, then starting Monday do a WINNER TAKE ALL Rookie MVP award from Monday to the end of the year.  Probably Simmons, Lonzo, Mitchell, and I will see who else… I might do those 3 anyway, cuz they are my 3 favorites.  then another guy.

Never saw a number 2 in a mvp race leading the 18th team in the nba…

Quite the accomplishment to win 6 more games in the east than the young lakers in the west, only PO team with a negative differential.

Good for him  and hype you very much for the draft pick.

There is no "race." Harden has it wrapped up. It would be much more interesting if you started projecting who is 1st, 2nd and 3rd team all-NBA.

Harden all the way, though the fact that Anthony Davis’ epic March couldn’t get a mention in here is pretty depressing.

I might do the "next 10". Top 10 guys now. Then rank ’em from 6 to 15. So that would settle the 2nd and 3rd teams.

cool. It would actually decide kinda who the "MVP 6th man" is. Maybe AD…

I would have to see who the next top 10 are.

I’m not really a Lebron fan but wothout him that team is Kevin Love’s lottery T-wolve teams, with him they are an Esatern conference contender. Pure MVP.
